Hey guys, back with an update, I hope you love this chapter as much as I did, as it is crucial to this story.
*********** Chapter 4- ************
Somtimes, there are times when, you just don't know what to do. You're in this state of dilemma, where you're forced, upon your will, or your opressed against your desires. Manik Malhotra had done that to me, and I'm afraid I need to take a step back, to come back to sanity.
" Manik, do you-"
" I hope you've packed everything cause I'm dropping you off." Manik paced the room, in search of his car keys, his face composed and no hint of 'what had he just said before'. Clearly I'm not the only one who's bipolar, a person who just said he wanted to kiss me for so long, had suddenly vanished away his words? In the deep core of my heart, it ached a little, it ached for reassurance, it ached for security. This kiss meant nothing to Manik, and I had to remember that.
Manik's Porsche was nowhere in sight, instead a sheen black SUV was parked, with chauffeur greeting me in. I felt out of place in Manik's world of wealth, and this was one of the many things why we weren't the same.
" I- I wanted to tell you that-"
" What Manik? What did you want to tell me?" I demanded, handing my handbag to the chauffeur. Interrupting Manik had been the most satisfying thing, ever since he started the irritating habit with me.
" We can't meet. Oh Nandani, I can't stay away from you, thus we can't meet." Manik's face low, his tone broked midway, and his eyes never met mine.
" Okay. It's fine. Once again thank you." I lied. It was not fine. My voice was weak, I started to feel things, I had wanted to avoid, but the damage was done. Nandani Murthy, you're strong, get in the car, and go away. Manik grabbed my wrists in for his arms, and I jerked back my hands.
" Bye Manik." This guy wanted a hug, after what he just said? I stomped into the car, the last thing I had seen was Manik's hand waving goodbye, a glimpse of glum that read on his face.
Maniks POV
Last Saturday was a tribute to how f**ked up I had been. Everytime I had try to take a nap, glances of black tresses fell on her face, the joyous smile glowing, her hands around my neck, doing everything I had only dreamed of. Nandani Murthy had ruined me. She was everything, I had wanted, but I nothing to offer to her, but grief and disappointment. This change, the overwhelmingly confused feelings, had to come out, and I knew just the person to give it to.
" So you're saying you like her?" Cabir held in his breath, in the suddent revelation.
" No. Liking her, would be too mediocre. I feel something more, things I shouldn't feel, beyond lust and attraction, and I don't know what to f**king do!" I yelled over the speaker, leaving Mary ( the cook ) startled.
" Bud, she's Nandani. I've known her forever, longer then I've known you, and she's not into what you are Manik. If I see Nandani hurt, I will beat the leaving shit out of you." Cabir had remained calm while replying but I knew he was serious.
" What exactly am I into?"
" No commitment, nothing. Listen, the girls you meet and whatever, are into that, but Nandani no, she's too mature, and she needs exactly what you can't give her." And there it was! The cold hard truth. It felt as a brick was repeatedly pounding on my chest, I wanted to punch something, someone to get this unreasonable frustration out.
" Listen, Manik, just avoid her, you will move on trust me, and I'm busy man, I just met this hot dude, and he's a freakin police man! Can you believe that? Anyways bye, we'll catch up later evening." Cabir had hanged up leaving me time to go ahead on with my life.
" Manik what did you want me to pack you for lunch? Potato salad, or tuna sandwich?" Mary opened the refrigerator, displaying the two choices onto the table.
" Mary, potato salad." I answered.
" And Nandani?"
" Sorry Manik? You wanted something?" Shit. Shit. Shit. I was in deep shit, Nandani had revolved around my thoughts, provoked me to hallucinating, which I hadn't even believed to be true 2 weeks ago. I craved for Nandani's touch, the smell of cherries and apples, that always imprinted on her hair. Mary looked at me in amusement, probably reflecting upon how crazy I was. My need went wild, I wanted to meet Nandani, I wanted to kiss those supple lips, the lips that are always ready to submit to me. The thought of a petrified Nandani had scared me more, and I had decided not to, I couldn't hurt Nandani, I was way too f**ked up in the head to.
Nadanis POV
I let the freezing, running water cover me from head to toe, later converting to warm, as it leaves my body. I scrubbed my face, enough to leave it red, moving downwards to my lips. Rust tan eyes had appeared again, rubbing my lips back and forth. I shaked my head in the overbold thought. My body refused to believe these lips had once been kissed passionately by Manik.
" You're going to ace it! I'm 100% sure." Sam grabbed the blazer hanging on the closet and slowly dressed me. The beige chiffon blouse hanged right above my navel, bringing out the red hues on my cheeks. My hair was up in a bun, to meet the expectations of the airline.
" I just hope. I'm so sick in the stomach Sam." I truly was, the light makeup had done wonders for my face, as it hid the visible fear reeking from my eyes.
" What for? You're more then perfect for this criteria! You're attractive to the eyes, and your resume is enough to get you employed" Sam was now reapplying the concealer on my eyes, who wouldn't? No makeup in the world could cover the heavy bags under my eyes.
" All set. Remember confidence can overtake anything. Smile and be honest." Sam placed a light kiss on my cheek, pushing me out the door. I settled into my Honda, comprehending what Sam had said.
" What can you offer to our crew, clients, and service heads?" A man with visible grey hairs led out my resume to study, as he started interrogating.
" Upmost respect and guidance in a professional manner. I will continue to correct my flaws and keep learning whilst serving." I replied in my upmost diplomat manner. The man's badger read " Sir, Drew Hendricks, it was obvious he was head of the aircraft interview crew. The office layed gray tiles, and blue walls, which shone less light naturally.
" Excellent answer! Your resume speaks of achievements, and we can't wait to have you as our official Steeling Airways hostess!" Sir, Drew Hendricks, jumped out of his spinning chair, in to give me a hug. I squirmed, breathing in his deodorant deprived body. The muscles on my back eased in a little, taking a rest. My clammy palms was now dry with relief. I couldn't believe I was picked out of the thousands.
" Just a quick thing, we have a new regulation, where newly employed air hostess are required to check in with the CEO/ Head of Steeling Airways." Sir Drew Hendricks started dialing onto the land-phone. I was bewildered as to why such a busy person had time to check in with each individual, must be their own rule, I guessed.
" Come on up, right here into this exit, and I'll take you to the board room. The crew will be waiting for you there." Sir Drew, proceeded to show me the hallway, breaking me out of my thoughts.
" Thank you." I was now alone, in a vast room, waiting to be occupied. I examined the room, to find it adorned with various sculptures of planes. The passion for aviation was oozing in the room.
" I'm extremely sorry to be late. I'll quickly check on your brief records and continue from the-" The husky voice jumped me, to which I turned around to greet, rust tan eyes.
" Nandani?!" Manik's face was creased with lines as confusion covered his forehead. My stomach was pinching all over the top, and my body froze. The sudden smell of cologne had started to enter my noise, leaving me dizzy.
" Manik?" I questioned, barely a whisper.
" You're the new air hostess?" Manik rushed over to me , keeping a few distance away from my face.
" That's what it seems isn't it? " It was paining to see Manik's face, but it left a sense of assurance that he was alright. The mystery of his wealth had come to a stop today, leaving me with all the more questions. Manik showed no interest of aviation, anywhere.
" I'm glad. I don't have to check any records, you're emplyed for a reason." Manik grinned, waking more gradually towards me.
" I missed you. " Manik pulled my face into his chest, as I started inhaling, the musk of his cologne, the smell of 'him'. Oh Manik I've missed you too, but I couldn't tell him that. Our bodies were intertwined, as his arms locked into my waist, and his face into my neck. My body twitched at the closeness of our bodies, my chest pushed into his body, the heat slowly rising.
" No Manik, check what you have to check, I'm not your special case or whatever." I broke the embrace, avoiding to look into his eyes.
" You do realize what's happening?" I looked up finally, but only looking at his face, avoiding those rust tan eyes.
" What?"
" We're going to bump into each other more then often." My chest started pounding louder and harder.
" You're the CEO if I'm not mistaken, I will be working inside planes, how does that work?"
" My plans have changed." Manik restored back his playful smirk which hid these past minutes. I took a deep breath, to find my throat dry, in need of hydration. Why don't you understand Manik?
**************************************************
For those requesting Manik's POV, I finally added it in, however it is a rare thing as I want this story to be completely from Nandani's perspective, her views, her journey, but Manik's POV will be added when it's important, like this chapter , it was important to understand his views.
I hope you don't mind the short update, nonetheless like and comment your views
Love you guys, xx
