@Twinkle, lovely to see you happy and expressing that through your vocabulary.

I didn't like yesterday's episode at first because of the scenes were mostly in the dark and I couldn't see properly. The dialogues were also not very distinct. On a rewatch of the episode on the net, I could decipher the scenes and I quite liked it.

I thought there were a few symbolic things being explored through the scenes. I thought daaru in banana leaf was symbolic of the north-south antecedents of Manan - Manik a full blooded Punju and Nandu, a Tamil Brahmin. We know that a majority of the Punjus are fond of their drinks. We also know that South Indians generally use banana leaf to serve food, particularly in weddings and other feasts. Nandu asking Manik to steal drinks which she later liberally drinks shows her embracing his culture and him innovatively making banana leaf glasses to serve the drinks shows his embracing her culture.

The 400 square feet and 4000 square feet reference to the house they want to have in the moon is symbolic of the economic disparity between them, her being the middle class girl whose thoughts are not very big to start with but who is willing to expand her thoughts to accommodate not only her rich lover's conveniences but also their family and friends. the fact that she thought as far ahead as Abeer's girlfriend shows the confidence she has in their hameshas. Surprisingly she didn't mention Rishab. CVs have forgotten him or what? Manik too did not mention his dad. Wonder what his equation with him is. Hope they bring him at some point before the show ends.

The choice of the moon for making their home also indicates how she does not trust this earth to keep them safe. It can also be seen as Nandu asking for the 'moon' and Manik ready to even steal it for her.

So far we have seen Manik lying his head on Nandu's lap. For the first time Nandu lays her head in his lap as if to say that she is tired of being the strong one and now needs her rest in the lap of the man she trusts the most.

As you pointed out, she seemed to be quite spontaneous when she reached out to him in the morning. Despite her dizzy state she remembers enough of the night enough to know they had slept with each other. Her apprehension at not finding him was real and when he returned with their tea, she hugged him tight, not wanting to let go of him, lest he doesn't return.

P.S. I personally thought that Pani could have done better although they weren't bad. Niti was practically shrieking in several places and Parth's expressions were off in a couple of places.

Twinkleee!!!!!!
Welcome back..I am glad there is someone who shares the same view as me with regards to this whole MaNan drama.

I cannot but say that your post resonates such logic that people have to read and understand that this whole storyline is the most practical thing I have seen. It is the most normal thing to run away from your fear, not because they are cowards but because they want to experience their smiles (which was obviously lost) first.

Thanks for coming back and making a post that makes sense in a long time.

Cheers :)

You write so well!
Really, really well!

Judging by the some of the comments I read, you seem to be some sort of veteran here on IF whose words are something people look forward to, and I must say you deserve every bit of it. I'm not even watching S2 (just have a vague idea of what's happening) and you make me feel like watching it! And of course, I can't comment on the episode as I haven't watched it, but this:
It's about how she whispers lines like "jaldi aana" because she is fearful of staying alone now.
and this:
She straight away reaches out for him even with closed eyes because she needs his touch to know he's there and always will be there. But he's not. And she panics. No. It can't happen again. You see why she wanted to become the reason he smiles. You see why she wanted to make him laugh. You see why she wanted to gift him back the twinkle in his eyes again. Because she's scared of life now. She's scared she'll wake up one morning and find him snatched away again. She's scared they'll lose their touch again. The eyes tear up. Her stuttering cries to him. Her restless eyes. Quivering lips. But one sight of him, and she clings onto him for her dear life. She can't let him go ever. And he isn't allowed to leave her ever. But. The fear lives on.

She hadn't forgotten anything. She wasn't being ignorant. She had just numbed it. Because they are kids and sometime running away from our fears makes it easier to deal with the pain. Because it's like what if she wakes up one morning and he's not there or she's not with him. But she always knew she could never run away from it. From her fears. And now that it's haunting her again, she will face it. Break. Shatter. And he will pick her up to heal her again.
sounds perfect. Like I said, I'm vaguely aware of what's happening in KYY, and I wasn't all too satisfied with how they treated the MaNan reunion (although I can't really judge, I only saw the promo), but this last paragraph more than justifies it. Because Nandini does numb her pain. This wouldn't be the first time. And Manik will heal her. They will heal each other. And they will make us fall in love with stars and fireflies and soulmates and fairy tales all over again.

(Yeah, I'll try to watch S2 now.)

(Also, you've got another person to fangirl over your words.)

To all you wonderful people... a big big thankyou for so much warmth. It's good to hear from you all and keep the hoping spirit up. 😳 I can't promise as of yet if I will be write as frequently but I will try to drop in here and there.

@Opti- your piece was rather phenomenal. I loved your symbolism connect. A must read to all who visit the thread because it provides an interesting insight into their current story. Adds a new dimension too. Just adding, she had mentioned Rishabh's wife right after Abheer's girlfriend.

My take on why Manik's dad wasn't mentioned was because she hasn't been exposed to talks of his dad too frequently. My understanding is that the scene was handed to nandini because it was her attempt to seek out a world for just them two, where she would be assured he is safe and she won't lose him. So she chooses the moon, like you said - somewhere far from the earthly evils. Keeping in mind that she was tipsy but her direct conscience was aware of who are the people she can trust and who aren't. She's never talked about his dad. It would've been a misfit in the conversation to include him there. But she knows Nyonika is one person she needs to keep away and so her name was never muttered. She named those who Manik claims as his family - his fab 5. Manik has never named his father as family. Yes he is a positive character, but he is a reason also why manik's childhood was chucked away in darkness.
