It was 9 am in the morning.. The whole world was hustling and bustling with activity.. the hospital was abuzz with activity with doctors and nurses and patients all running here and there.. but there was one guy for whom the world had stopped.. yes the unstoppable manik malhotra, his world had stopped since the day nandini was in hospital... manik had experienced death up, close and personal... her scars, her pain they all haunt him.. the moment he close his eyes the frightful sight of her wriggling in pain comes to his mind.. his ears echo just one sentence "i love you manik but i don't trust..".. a strange guilt engulfed him and threatened to swallow him... but then he looked at her.. the one girl who has now become his existence..his identity..his soul..his heart and his life..his nandini..

manik walked slowly towards nandini who was still sleeping.. he pulled a chair and sat next to her..he too her hand in his.."I am sorry nandini.. i promise i will get you back what i took from you...your trust..i will.." he caressed her cheeks, her hair as if he is trying to soak her in him and take away all her pain... her pain was just not her's anymore it was his.. manik bent down closing his eyes and placed his warm lips over her cold ones.. though nandini was in deep slumber under the influence of drugs she still trembled with his touch.. her lips tried to move a bit and shivered a bit as kept dropping kisses ... with every kiss he vowed to love her, protect and and make her his only his.. every evil that now even thinks of coming her way will have to cross manik first..

Just then chachi walked in.. she put her hands on his shoulder and said "manik..go home and freshen up.." manik looked at chachi and tried to say something but chachi silenced him saying "to fight this you need energy and it will only come if you rest and eat...now go.." chachi said all this with so much love that manik couldn't say no to her.. he got up and went back home before pausing at the door.. he turned back he winked, smiled and blew a kiss to her and said 'get ready nandini.."

as soon as he reached home and went straight to his room, manik took the jar of water and poured it on himself keeping the tradition alive and soon the servants followed it up with the green tea and smiley sandwich which DJ made for manik... Manik slumped on his couch sipping the tea and rying to breath in nandini with every sip.. his eyes were closed when he felt two tender hands caressing his forehead.. "DJ" manik said as he smiled faintly and kept his head on her lap.. both of them were silent and not speaking a word as sometimes silences speak louder than the words..

Manik was trying to sleep cause even though his heart was not tired but his body was giving up...two night of no sleep was taking its toll on him but he couldn't sleep.. for the first time in his life manik couldn't find peace in his DJ's lap also the only place where he could forget all his worries till now.. suddenly manik woke and said "i know what i need to do.." he took his keys and ran with out giving DJ a chance to speak or ask him anything..

Soon manik found himself outside nandini's house.. it was locked as chacha was in office and chachi and rishabh in hospital.. but manik remembered that nandini told him once that there was a spare key under a flower pot... he took the keys opened the house and went straight to nandini's room... he looked around the room and found a beautiful picture of nandini holding a jar of fireflies and smiling from behind it.. manik caressed the picture and said "do you any idea how beautiful look when you smile like that.." manik kissed her pic and look all around her cupboard and finally found what he was looking for..

He took the item and smelled it and smiled and walked into the wash room.. soon manik walked out of the wash room wearing a pink and black mickey mouse top which was about to burst from all corners and was not all fitting him as it covered only half body exposing his chiselled abs.. Manik went in front the mirror and looked himself and smiled "nandini.." and he hopped on to the bed clutched all her pillows and blanket and in an instant drift into sleep...

It was 7 pm in the evening when chachi walked in and she came into nandini's room to get few essentials for her.. as soon as he switched on the lights a huge scream came out and manik woke up in a jerk.. "manik yeh..tum yahan aur yeh kya oehna hai?" and she burst out laughing "woh chachi.." manik looked here and there and blushed.. "aww toh nandu ke dracula ko sharmana bhi aata hai?" she smiled and pulled his cheeks.. Suddenly manik jumped from bed "who is with nandini?" chachi smiled and said "relax romeo abhi and cabir are there.." manik heaved a sigh of relief.. chachi asked him to come down for tea.. manik finished a weird tasting tea and walked out with a huge bag.. "yeh kya hai?" chachi asked.. "nandini's smile.." he smiled and walked out..

Manik walked in nandini's room with a huge bouquet of roses as nandini love roses.. "are waah romeo aa gaya.." abhi and cabir chuckled together.. manik gave them 'whatever.." look and got to work.. "manik what are you doing?" cabir asked but manik ignored him and soon they found the grumpy hospital room being transformed into a serene paradise .. Manik decorated the room with wind chimes.. earthen lamps and incense sticks just the way nandini keeps her room.. he kissed her forehead and woke her up and said "good evening princess.." nandini slowly opened her eyes and looked around and was surprised..
