Chapter 4 Solving the mystery.

It was morning. The Sun was shining brightly. Nandini couldn't sleep the whole night. Would he remember what happened at night? Only this one thought was running all over his mind. Scenes from her past were haunting her since midnight. She just needed a break. Break from these endless and baseless fights. She saw the most beautiful sight in front of her, Manik sleeping cuddling her close to himself.

She started getting off the bed when Manik pulled her beside him and she landed on his chest.

"I need a break from these fights." Manik spoke sleepily while looking into Nandini's eyes.

"Uhh... Maa... ni..." Nandini was trying to speak but words couldn't get out of her mind. How does this guy always tends to understand what she wants? Even after what she has done to him?

"Shut up and don't go. It's only 6:30. We still have 2 hours left. Come and sleep." Manik said in the huskiest tone and made her lie next to him and nuzzled himself in her hair getting into deep sleep.

Nandini slept smiling. She wasn't really ready for the talk and she needed to make out words but how? Like how did he understand her so well? How she wish she shouldn't have broken Fab-5. It was all her fault. She was at fault and still Manik didn't do any harm to her... Even after what she did.

Manik woke up at 9 witnessing his baby doll sleeping in his arms. He felt so happy for the first time. He knew that she was hiding something from all of them. What would have happened? Why did she do all that? Why did she break us...? All these thoughts were confusing him and he subconsciously kissed her cheek making her blush in her sleep as well. Now I am sure that she did that all for a very solid reason. He smiled and got up from the bed.

He walked into the washroom and stayed in the shower for a quiet a long while and started thinking something.

Nandini stepped in, didn't knowing about his presence, and suddenly haulted.

"Sorry sorry sorry sorryyy!" She shouted and turned her face. Manik's face lit up with a huge smile. His shy Nandini was getting back!

"Kya hua Nandu? My wife can see me like this whenever she wants. You are my wife right?" Manik said and smirked from inside the shower.

"Haan na!" Nandini replied.

"You wanted to take a shower na! It'd take me too long, you can join me." Manik said and bit his lips to control his laughter.

"Wo... wo... wo actuu...ally... okay bye!" She stammered and ran out of the washroom leaving a laughing Manik behind.

She is so innocent.

"Nandini I was thinking that we should give a break to these fights." Manik said while pulling the ice cube out of his tea. xD

"And why is that so? Are you out of your evil ideas Mr. Malhotra?" Nandini replied arranging the bed an eyeing the ice cube in Manik's hand.

"No actually it's okay your wish." Manik said with a sigh and put the ice cube in Nandini's tea. He knew he couldn't win when it comes to Nandini.

"Are no no we can give them a break if you want? But a short one okay?" Nandini said and pulled out the ice cube from her cup smilingly.

"Thanks. Bye" Manik too smiled and went to his office.

He was looking so stress-free for the first time after almost 2 weeks of his marriage. Everyone in the office was dumbstruck seeing their boss smile genuinely. Because when he did, it was a sarcastic one.

He was humming songs on the way to his cabin. "What happened to him? He looks so happy." Naina, Manik's PA asked one of his colleagues, Aisha.

"I don't know. Did he kill his wife?" Aisha replied and they both left out a loud laughter.

On the other side, in the mansion, Nandini was dancing with joy and helping out the servants happily. Alya seeing the happy side of her best friend after ages thought of teasing her.

"Oho Nandu! Why are you blushing so much han?" Alya asked brushing her shoulder with hers.

"Arre nai aisa kch nai hai. It's just that I am happy today." Nandini said smilingly.

"Aisa kya hua raat ko?" Alya again teased her.

"Uh! Leave all that Alya. Can I ask you something?" Nandini asked her sheepishly.

"You are my best friend. You can ask me anything, idiot!" Alya exclaimed.

"Uh... Aren't you... I mean... Aren't you... wo..." Nandini was gathering courage plus words to speak but couldn't.

"What? Say na!" Alya was getting curious.

"I mean aren't you angry with me? And if no then why?" Nandini asked her in one breathe.

"What? Why would I be angry with you? What have you done?" Alya asked narrowing her eyes.

"Alya don't act okay? We have to talk about it someday or the other then why not today? Why did you all break up because of me? I.. I... am... I am responsible for all this and even then you are behaving so, so casually..." Nandini lacked words. She couldn't complete her sentence and started choking.

"Nandini! It was the past. You have realized your mistakes, right? You both have apologized in front of all of us na? Can't you just forget it all?" Alya said the last line irritatedly.

"But Alya what can I do? You all have drifted apart because of me. I... I am the reason for splitting of the Fab-5. I can't forgive myself ever..." Nandini said and broke into tears which were threatening to come out from the last 5 minutes.

"Nandini you want us to be back again right?" Alya asked and she nodded.

"Then tell us the reason behind all that. We'll back forever." Alya put her hand on Nandu's shoulder and gave her a smile and went away without waiting for her reply. She knew that Nandini was not prepared for this and she needed time to analyze everything and at last say sorry to them.

Alya knew that she was responsible for Fab-5's breaking. She even apologized to everyone and they all cleared out everything except the reason for this. Nandini refused to tell the reason even when Manik make her swore on Fab-5. No! I can't. This was her reply which let everyone fuming and they broke apart as per the agreement. Mukti and Alya stayed in touch with her whereas Manik found himself going to her house every now and then stating the same reason every time. And that was about Alya.

She remembered when she last time saw Cabir and that was almost 4 years back. They never contacted promising that he'd return only if Nandini speaks the truth.
And then she suddenly remembered Dhruv and cried. Nandini heard her sobs and felt guiltier than ever.

That day, two best friends were crying for the same reason but couldn't face each other.

Manik returned in the night and saw that the house had an awkward silence filled inside it. He called out for Alya but no reply. Then, he called for Nandini but still no reply. His parents were out of town leaing the kids alone. Alya and Nandini both were his responsibility.

Where are they both? He panicked and ran towards Alya's room and found a note by at the entrance.

Bhai don't panic. I am going out for some work. No! I promise you I am not meeting him, I don't even know where he is, I'm just going to Dehradun to relish the last memories. Please spare me last time. Love you. Bye.

He felt a little sad as he knew that Alya was missing Dhruv that too badly. He sensed that maybe they both have talked about this issue when he was out. He then came into his room and found Nandini sitting beside the window and the wall. Pale, swollen eyes, lost, these words could perfectly describe her condition.

Now, he was sure that they have really talked about it! He came towards Nandini and sat beside her. Nandini automatically put her head on his shoulder and he ran his fingers on her hair.
"Why don't you tell everything then?" Manik asked.
" I... can't..." She managed to speak after 15 long minutes.

"Then don't cry." Manik replied coldly and left her alone and went outside.

She was in dilemma. She couldn't break her promise to Dhruv of not telling anything to Fab-5. She just couldn't but she has to. She has to clear everything as what Dhruv wanted and she couldn't without telling everything.

"Sorry Dhruv I have to break my promise. I am sorry." She said and wiped her tears and held her phone to message on the Whatsapp group of Fab-5 and Navni which was inactive since the past 5 years.

Nandini - I am ready. Let's meet somewhere ASAP.

An instant reply came by Cabir as if he was waiting for the past 5 years just for her message.

Cabir - Tomorrow morning, same place, same time, where we all met the last time! I'll bring Navya with me.
Alya - I'll be there with Mukti.
Manik - I'll bring Nandini if she wishes to come with me.
Nandini - Where are you btw?
Manik - Bringing dinner. Give me 10.
Cabir - Woah! You both are together? Oh my God! That's some news.
Manik - A lot has changed past the 5 years. A LOT!
Navya - We can see that.
Mukti - I'll come but Nandini ask your brother to behave.
Manik - Mukti leave it na. Dono bhai behen ek jaise hain. Dominating.
Nandini - Oh hello! Dominating kisko kaha?
Manik: Tumhe.
Cabir - Bas karo guys! What about Dhruv? Is he going to come now or no?
Nandini - I'll manage about him. You all come okay?
Navya - Done hai.

Nandini felt so happy after seeing the same lightening at their group after years. She was talking to Navya and Cabir after 5 years.

Manik came back and they both had their dinner silently and slept. Nandini was scared. She didn't know what she would say, how she would start and everything! Manik was curious to know the reason. Too curious, that he didn't even sleep for a single moment.

The sun shone brightly in the sky. The morning came for which they all were waiting since the past 5 years. They knew that Nandini would definitely speak up one day. And this was the one day.

Everyone started getting ready and left for the place to find some answers.

The place where they all gathered after Dhruv's sudden disappearance, the place where Fab-5 broke, the place where Nandini refused to speak the truth for the first time, and the place was the caf in which Nandini worked when she was suspended from the college without any reason. The caf where Dhruv to came to meet Nandini and where she handled his attacks, the caf where she saw Dhruv for the last time, the place where Manik broke up with her forever, the place where Fab-5 met for the last time.

And now, after 5 long years, they all were meeting again, meeting again to set the past scores with Nandini.

I will tell you about their past in the next chapter for sure. It'd be the flashback chapter, hehe.
