Rajiv is not leaving😛. Its some technical staff which is leaving. I guess 3 of them. I think it's very normal. Generally d directors and technical staff work in team so when old director left, I was expecting few more people to leave.

2days fact aside, even lots of other seeds can also germinate in simply water placed at room temperature.

Only that, immersing them in a fishbowl of water is not needed, little water is enough.
