manik was driving .he was looking at nandini through the side mirror she was upset he knew from her expression
manik : nandu
she loved the way he say her name
nandini: yeah
manik : r u ok ? u look nervous
nandini: well u know me and new people a bad combination .
manik : u don't have to do this. If u don't want to it's ok . I'll find another way to get rid of soha
nandini: oh that ? she said with a nervous laugh .umm it's ok m not worried about that seriously its just the fear of new place and people.
manik : if u r sure . but just remember I really appreciate this.
finally they reached the collage entrance they spotted a thin tan figure in white shorts and a fitted red tee leaning against the big college sign
manik : uh.ohh
nandini felt an anvil of cold dread settle into her body .she spent so much time thinking about how will it be to be manik's girlfriend .
manik : just ignore her (giggling)
nandini: very funny(hitting him on the shoulder)
they got off the bike manik parked the bike.
soha: hi manik ( her voice was sultry . nandini always thought soha was too skinny to have a voice so low , but it made her sound like an old movie star ) she came and tried to touch manik
manik : hey soha ( how did he sounds so casual ?) this is my girl friend , nandini
nandini's hands were shaking . nandini stared at her . soha had brown curled hairs hung down on each side of her face . she kept pushing it back with one long,tan,manicured hand.
soha loved wearing red .
soha: nandini murthy. I have seen u before. she narrowed her eyes even more. I thought u moved away in taylor's college.
manik : guess not (nandini didn't respond ) lucky for me.
suddenly 4m behind them a car pulled up
navya: howdy doo! Soha a voice called it was navya.
(navya would be a perfect friend but navya was much cool to hang out with nandini. Soha had latched on to her from day one,so now navya was one of the most popular girls in school .
navya had perfect long black straight hairs, she was wearing bight red shirt and black shorts.)
navya: hey soha.
soha: navya babez u r wearing red .
navya: yeah I just bought it yesterday
soha:that's the idea red is my colour .
navya: don't worry ur highness u look more hotter than me.
soha: ( sniffed) navya, u remember manik ( she said meaningfully) this is his girl friend.
navya squinted at nandini
navyas: no way I didn't know that u guy's were dating .
nandini then had a horrible realization that if navya knows her mom will also know who is nandini's chachi's friend .but it was too late to do anything about that now .
nandini : um yeah ! its new
soha: really (rolling her eyes) when did u guys get together.
manic: ( 2 month before) nandini: ( last month ) they both said together .
soha eyebrows shot up
manik : I asked her 2 month before but she said yes last month
soha: ohhh how cute ( in killing tone )
navya: how did u asked her ( she sounded more interested than soha) was it romantic or wired)
manik :you know ( he said sensing nandini's panic.) I asked her. No big deal. We should go in shouldn't we?
soha stopped him with one hand on his chest looking straight at nandini.
soha: oh boy! Aren't we all friends . boy's never care about the details . to get the real story, you have to ask the girl. Right nandini? So tell us the details. I want to hear every single thing.
manik : it's totally boring and we'r going to be late .
soha: we still have few minutes unless there is some reason u don't want to tell this story manik
manik and nandini exchanged glances. Hers said, (she totally knows we'r lying ). his said ,( help what to do? )
nandini: (took a deep breath). Well ( she had imagined manik asking her out thousand times. So she could describe the perfect scene pretty easily)
nandini: it was Wednesday night I decided to walk spy my dog to the park on the corner . when I came out of the door manik was sitting on the door steps . he looked like he'd been waiting for a while ,he asked if he could come to the park along with me and I said sure and gave him spy's leash
soha : ur dog's name is spy?
nandini: ya me and my brother loved it and it's cool
soha: go on, so u and manik walked to the park
nandini: yeah and we let spy off the leash in the fenced area, and then we sat on the bench by the fountain.
navya: I know that fountain , wow that's romantic.
soha : navya plzzz stop interrupting.
nandini: and then he put something in my hand,(she imagined it so many times. It was real in her head.)
nandini: I looked down and it was this little oragami whale .on one side it said
nandini... And when I truned it over the other side said,"...
will u be my girl friend ?"" navya: OMG... that's the cutest thing I've ever heard.
soha: how could u read it in moonlight ?
nandini: oohhh come on there r lights in the park ( she looked nervously at manik 's , but she couldn't figure out the look on his face. Was he freaked out? Did he think it was wired that she had come up with a whole story so fast)
soha: ohhh well that's sweet. I don't know why u didn't wanted to tell us the story manik
soha: but nandini babezz u waited for one month.
nandini : I guess I was nervous ... I mean manik 's my 1st ...she flattered. She couldn't do it . she couldn't say ,manik 's my boyfriend.
Manik : the important thing is she did say yes.(he put his arm around nandini's waist and pulled her near to him)
manik:. Now that u have all the detail's u need for in-depth encyclopaedia on the subject , may we plzz get to the class miss soha.
soha: (lifted her chin so her wings of hair swung back from her face). Of course she linked her arms through navya's and headed towards the class.
soha and navya walked away .nandini's heart was racing manik 's whole side was pressed against hers, and his bare arms were resting on her waist. She could feel the strength of his muscles and she seems to be confused and scared and amazed at the same time.
manik : w8 ...( he looked around soha and navya were gone). Nandini that was amazing.
nandini: ohhh ( she turned pink ) . it was nothing special.
manik : seriously?. I couldn't believe it. I wish I was that cool.if you would have been a guy. you'd knock the socks off any girl with a move like that.
nandini: (giggling) hey " knock the socks off ?" how old are u , fifty ?
manik : nice . I give u compliment, and u make fun of me.
nandini: sorry , I forgot for a moment that's really what a girl wants to hear, that she'd be a great boy if she get a chance.( sarcastically )
manik : hey i meant that u r very much smarter than any boy I have heard of.
nandini: Im a girl ok and really happy with that.
manik : u r my cutie pie
nandini: loser
manik : my Einstein
nandini: stop behaving like a jerk manik .
manik pressed one hand to his forehead . Alas! How my girl friend abuse me .
both started laughing ...
they walked to the check-in counter , moved his arm from around her waist and leaned over to sign-in
nandini glanced around and stopped laughing . soha was standing halfway down the hallway. nandini understood this isn't over yet . soha wanted manik and she thought nandini is the one standing in her way.
but the question is what soha is going to do about it?
manik : nandini m done let's go
nandini: hmmm
they both turned and cabir came in
cabir: hey love birds u match maker is here hehehehhehehehe
