Love is that emotion, which lays you out bare into the world, your wounds exposed, the rawness of it that you can still feel as the blood pools in your mouth.
"It isn't love, if it does not hurt"-Nandini
She knows this very well, she understands that to experience true love, you will have to experience moments of pain, because with love , you leave yourself vulnerable to the other person. People who love you, hurt you not because they want to but because they are human beings. Human beings make mistakes, mistakes that hurt especially if a loved person does it, because you give them the power to do so. But that is love, because you surrender yourself in love and you hope that by surrendering the happiness you experience is more than the pain you have to bear.
Fear, the fear of being hurt, the fear that the pain is almost too much to bear, the fear that no matter how much happiness you get, that the moments of pain overwhelm the happiness.
We do not want to get hurt, so we shield ourselves from it, we put up walls as a defense mechanism, Some people come into your lives and are able to take down those walls, but sometimes in life, your life is spent and no one has come to help take down those walls you have put up.
Courage, the very word's roots are from the French word "coeur" meaning heart, love and courage are inter-connected. Without the courage to take that " leap of faith", to "free-fall", we might never experience love.
And copy/pasting what I wrote in the AT.
I see it all stemming from the premise that Manik is afraid of the emotion called "love"' because love not only brings happiness, it also brings pain and if you look back to his childhood, Manik's love for Noyonika has only brought him pain. Hence the reluctance to accept his emotion, reluctance to accept love. And when he finally finds the courage to word and embrace "love". he gets pain. Hence why he asks for absolute trust, in doing so, he is trying to negate that he will ever experience pain because of love. But Manik's journey will be to understand that love brings happiness as well as pain, if he truly wants to enjoy the happiness of love, he must experience the moments of pain too. Also kind of explains why he and Alya stuck it together for so long, she never questioned status quo, the control he wanted over his emotions, she allowed him that, with Nandini, the control isnt there, because he loves her, and with love comes pain.
