The woods are lovely, dark and deep, But I have promises to keep!!...Robert Frost!!
So many of them, promises, all around. The air they breathed, the stars above in the sky that twinkled in joy just looking at these two, the fireflies that glowed, the wind that blowed...promises, just a few fulfilled and so many more to go!! Some old promises renewed and many more taking shape!! The promises...not only the ones that the words make, but more importantly the ones that are unspoken, unsaid!! The promises that the hands touch, the vows that the entwined fingers take, the oaths that the tangled breaths make!! The agreements, heart beats confirm with every bated breath!! The contracts of a life time signed on in moments..sigh!! Such beautiful, life defining promises that bind the soul!!
He was late...and how he hated himself for that!! Ten minutes, more like ten eons..for him and for her!! For him, cause he feels every moment without her and for her, lost in her pain, she needed him...desperately..gasping for air!! And the promise of his first touch of the night...the feathery light feel of his fingers on her arms...making a vow, I will be there to comfort when you are in pain. I will be there, to assure and reassure when you need me, even if the silence of your words is deafening!! He regretted the wait, the wrong start cause he wanted everything to be a perfect!! For her...anything!! And the tears where punishment enough, they always are!! Her tears make him so restless, so making him feel like a thousand needles pined his being!! Trying to wiggle out of it, the monster!!đ Its just ten minutes...ten minutes when time stood still...??!!
And then he wants to take her away, with him, no questions asked, no hesitations, no doubts...he is so happy when she simply walks with him. I promise to walk by you, through life and eternity, without a word, lead me on and I will follow you blindly, to the ends of the earth and time!!
Nature too has its promises to keep. When it sees true love, the joy is reflected!! The fireflies rejoice, in this unique celebration of innocent love..shining brighter than ever!! Filling the air with the shine of pure love, surrounding them in a cocoon of pure bliss, a shield of light that no darkness can ever penetrate, filling their hearts and minds with the sunshine of a midnight moon!! They say the whole world loves lovers, so do the elements!!
Her eyes...the way she simply looks at him, drinking him in!! Soaking every precious drop of her Manik, trying to remember ever feature of his beloved face, his excitement, his smile, his love...recording for life. She just can't take her eyes off him, lest he disappears like a dream!! Her every wish, his command!! He keeps his promise...made the very fist time they met...when he saved her fireflies...I will cherish your dreams, I will protect your belief in true love, I will hold your faith in the palm of my hand, never letting go!! Today too he saves her crashing hopes...holding onto them tight!! Go on..dream...I will not let them shatter!! And today she knows he was the one!!
He gifts her a new set of hopes, for the ones she has lost!! Finally the pain is erased, the void filled. Yes, it was hard work Manik, but you finally gave her a new lease on life!!
Her tears, when love overflows, they find a way!! There are moments in our lives, the rarest , when we feel sheer bliss and purest sorrow at the same time!! She feels the pain, she feels the joy...suspended helplessly in a vacuum!! A feeling she can never understand, forget share!! An emotion which can never be defined, forget express!! Wringing, flung, shredded in a twister, while her anchor in the storm, is right in front of her!!
He asks her about the fireflies, and for the life of her, she cannot share it with him, not yet!! And that was wise Nandini!! There is a time for everything and may be this was not the perfect moment for him! He walks in ignorance of what you know!! But he still understands ..instinctively!! Yes, Manik...parents do shape our lives...yours broke the mold, hers bathed her in gold!!
She wants to get close to him, so close that she loses herself. She wants to be one, feel one with him, her body speaking, her whole being telling a story of its own, the secret that her lips refuse to divulge, when words simply fail her. How do I make this man understand, how much I love him?? How do I ever tell him that he is all I have ever craved, or I will ever want and can never have?? How do I hold him tight, so tight that no one and nothing can take him away...I don't want to die!!
He gazes at the stars and she snuggles up to him, she doesn't want to waste time in words now!! And he takes her in. A perfect fit !! They belong, the pieces of God's puzzle finally coming together to form a picture perfect destiny!!
He feels it, the turmoil in her, the chaos erupting within her, the change, the shift..her desperate need...he feels it all. He senses a storm, while he tries to keep his sanity!! He can hear her silence, he can read her lonely touches, he can taste her hunger!! He instinctively knows...and Nandini try as you might, he will know. Your monster will always sense when things are wrong and he will set them right for you. As she tries to soak him in her soul!! She just can't get close enough...And he holding on tight with both his hands, reminding himself at every caress, at every touch...he promised!! His promise to keep her dignity intact. His promise to deliver her safe and sound from his raging passions. He promised to protect her from himself!! She needed him, cause he was the only one that stood between, the only one that could stop!! Manik did it cause he wanted her to know ..you mean more. You, my darling star, mean much more than a kiss or a feel or a night filled with passion and satiation. You are more than a body's need, you are more than a physical desire...And Nandini, unknowlingly you might tempt him, offer him everything you have, you might be his for the taking and he might have the power to do anything and everything he wants with you, but this man will not budge. He knows how to keep his promises!! However difficult, however hard, he still keeps them!!
But there will be nights when no promises will hold him back..and yes you (and of course usđ) can wait for such nights. As he said many more to come...a lifetime of nights where the promises made will be very different!! He promises you nights that will never end, nights when nothing will hold him back, nights when he will finally show you how much he loves you, nights when he will not let you go...never!! Some more delicious, forbidden promises from the man, and you know, at the cost of your sanity, that he keeps them.
Yes, close your eyes, don't think...just feel!! Feel the trust that now flows in your veins for this man!! Feel the faith that he inspires in your every breath now!! Feel the blind love that dictates that you let go of everything...all fears, doubts, hesitations, inhibitions...and fall!! Fall cause he will be there to hold you, in his arms. He will always be there to catch you. He will forever hold you tight, safe and secure in his warmth. Nothing can harm you, touch you, he won't let that happen. The world will never intrude in your world, not when you are encircled, precious and safe in those lovely hands.Trust...isn't that how you defined love and unknown to you, that's how he understands love too!! Oh man...how blindly she makes a promise there and how confidently he keeps it!!
A whisper of a night, wispy, feathery and light, yet so heavy with unspoken words, so laden with unshed tears. So filled with love, adoration, warmth, confidence, faith, fears, trust and sorrow!! So laced with goodbyes and new beginnings, so entwined with hopes and hopelessness. How wonderfully woven with love, binding two souls forever!! Magical and melancholy!! So intricately embroidered with promises!!
P.S...sorry I know itss tooo looonnggg...but it was so gorgeous...I couldn't do justice!!
