Chapter 23
Nyonika: this is not possible. It can't be. U r trying to fool me. Everyone knows Nandini lost her parents and she only has a younger brother. So where did you come from? Stop trying to play games with me. Is this the way of protecting ur beloved Nandini?
Varun is already angry listening to Nyonika and her words are not making it easy for him to stay calm.
Varun: seriously Mrs Malhorta what do u know about my family huh? Who the hell are you to me? Why would I need to prove anything to you? But since you asked I'll tell you. Nandini is my choti behan. We are three kids in total. Me, Nandu and rishu. On that day of the accident we were all going somewhere when a white light flashed in front of us and dad lost control of the car. I don't remember what happened but when I opened my eyes I was in a hospital. Then one of my dad's friend told me that my entire family died in that accident. Years later when rohit went to India he saw Nandini and told me about her. That's how I knew my lil sis is still alive. Is that enough explanation for you Mrs Malhotra. Whatever you think it doesn't matter for me. All I care about is my sister's happiness. So I'm asking you to go away from here as I can't stand your face. I can kick you out of my house right now but since you are my guest i don't want to do that.
Nyonika couldn't say anything to varun. She just stood there and she knew if she says something then something might go wrong for her. So she was about to be leave when varun stopped her.
Varun: before you go Mrs Malhorta let me remind you. This is my house and Nandini is my sister. If I find out that u or someone else does something to hurt her or anything like that then you will all regret messing with me. Understand?!
With that Nyonika just left the place followed by soha and her father. Her father now knew varun's anger and he warned soha not to do anything stupid as it might mess up their chances, so he told her to stay within her limits. But since soha is obsessed with Manik she didn't pay any attention to her dad's advice.
After that varun went to the office while Nandini asked fab5 to practise their song.
It was around night time and fab5, Nandini and Manik were present. Varun and Manik noticed Nandini who was upset. They both figured out that she's in pain after remembering about her parents death since varun mentioned it in the morning. Varun just went near her and hugged her tightly. She started to sob very badly and started to blame her self for the accident.
Nandini: if I didn't distract dad with the pen then maybe he wouldn't have lost control. It's all my fault bhai!
Varun: Nandu listen to me. It's not ur fault. Whatever happened it was an accident. Ok. U didn't do anything choti.
Nandini: but bhai I don't understand something. U told me that Mr Patel said that dad's friend told you that we all died right?
Varun: yeah he told me that you, rishu and our parents died in that car crash. He also told me that the breaks didn't work and that's why dad lost control. That's how I knew about the accident and all. But, why Nandu? Why are you asking me that?
Nandini: I'm asking you this coz hes the one who told me and rishu that u died. That's why we left for India as no one was here to look after us. That's why we went to India to live with Ams as she could look after us. And he wasn't exactly dad's friend. He was just a colleague and he was interested in dad's research. So I'm wondering why did he tell you that i died.
Varun was beyond shocked to hear that. He started to wonder that if Mr Patel knew Nandini didn't die then why did he tell him something like this. Then he remembered that Mr Patel had asked a lot of questions about the pen and whether Varun had it or not.
Varun: Nandu I remember something. That night Mr Patel was asking me a lot of questions about appa's pen. I didn't know why. But he was interested in it a lot. I didn't know why he was asking me about it at the time. I was confused to be honest.
Nandini: OMG bhai it makes sense now!
Varun: what Nandu?
Nandini: dad always told me that his pen is also a usb which contains his research. So I'm guessing that Mr Patel was after it which is why he was asking you these things. Also u just said that the brakes didn't work. Bhai what if Mr Patel planned everything so he can get the pen?!
Varun: so you are saying that our parents were murdered?
Nandini: it's a possibility coz that day only dad was gonna go out remember? But we all forced him to take us out. So it was targeted for dad but no one knew we were gonna be in the car along with dad
Varun: u r right Nandu. It's does makes sense
With that the realisation hit Nandini. She couldn't take the fact that there was a possibility that her mom and dad were murdered. She just ran from there. Varun was about to follow her but Manik signalled him that he'll handle it.
Manik went to Nandini's room and found her sitting on her bed crying. Manik went and sat next to her. She just hugged him tightly and started to break down badly. Why Manik?! Why did they have to be murdered?! Manik was trying to console her. He kissed her forehead and then he kissed her tears away.
Manik: Nandini listen to me. Whatever happened that day has happened. I'm with u na. Pls don't cry Nandini. U know I can't stand ur tears. Every single tear pierces my heart a million times. So pls don't cry baby
Nandini: Manik but my parents were good people. Why did they have to murder them?! For a stupid research they destroyed everything!
Manik just listened to her silently. Nandini was still crying and by now Manik figured out that Nandini should let everything out as she has always put everything inside her. He was stroking her hair and she was falling asleep. So Manik tucked her in her bed and was about to leave when Nandini held his hand and asked him to stay with her. So he lied in the bed next to her. Nandini snuggled close to him and they both fell asleep hugging each other.
