Appreciation Post for Ruheen
"Okay, this is Act One, Scene Two where Param meets Nidhi for the first time. Everyone get into your places." Viraj, the director gave out orders whilst the cast onscreen rushed to their positions.
This was the first scene where most of the cast were appearing together. It was an outdoor shoot; the sun was blazing in the sky above, the trees fluttered its leaves as the slight breeze brushed past. Manik, now dressed in a blue blazer and orange shorts (if he was even taller, they'd have felt like hot pants), walked in the centre of the frame. In front of him was a bus, where he was told Nandini was going to get down and his part will start. Behind him was a red jeep, where Alya, Mukti, Cabir and Dhruv sat as their respective characters.
"Ready..." Viraj said as the crew got out of the frame and began operating the cameras. "Action!"
Nandini (now playing as Nidhi) got down from the bus, a jar covered in a white cloth was in her hand. She looked around and began to get off the bus, walking down the two steps.
"Manik, cue!" The cameras began to zoom into position as on the director's orders, Manik leaped in front just as Nandini pretended to trip. She gasped as she fell into Manik's arms, his arm awkwardly placed around her waist, whilst the jar was positioned between their bodies. "Okay, stop! Very good!" Viraj exclaimed.
Nandini moved away from Manik as he cleared his throat. He began to feel awkward, not sure what he should do. They were told not to move from their positions in case bloopers occurred; Viraj already had the disastrous experience of sharp eyed fangirls who plucked out each and every blooper in his previous show.
"Why do I feel so hot today?" Manik wondered to himself. "I knew I shouldn't have worn that black vest underneath this blazer!" He scratched his head and took a few deep breaths. He glanced at Nandini who was chatting to the hair stylist. The hair stylist brushed back Nandini's hair, and straightened the few loose curls. Next to them, the spot boys began plugging in the large fan and got ready for the next shot.
"Okay, get ready. Sound guys please put on some background music; Kuch Kuch Hota Hai title song. The instrumental only, okay?" The extras got out of the frame and it was just Manik and Nandini left. He had resumed placing his arms around her small waist, feeling the temperature of his body gradually increasing. "Fans on!" Viraj ordered. Instantly, Nandini's hair began to dance along to the tune of the mechanical wind just as he asked the spot boys to adjust Nandini's lal dupatta so that it would fly as the wind came on. "Action!"
Nidhi's hair flew against the wind as she leaped into Param's arms. Her lal dupatta unlocked from her neck due to the strong wind and brushed against Param's face. They could not see each other, yet there was a tingling feeling between them. Their first ever meeting and it was like it was destined from the beginning of time (include some lame ass clichd voiceover about Romeo and Juliet and fate and anything else that is obviously not clichd (!)).
"Take a few shots from different angles," Viraj asked the cameramen as Manik and Nandini stood still in position.
"This smell... It smells so good." Manik thought to himself. "I've never smelt such a smell before. It's invigorating, and sweet and god! What is this? Nandini, your hair smells good." He was in character as Param but the emotions felt so real. This was the true method acting.
"It's L'oreal."
"Wait, what?" Manik opened his eyes to see Nandini looking at him. Did she hear him? Did she read his mind? He looked around to realise that whilst he was lost in his thoughts, the director had stopped the filming, approving of the shot. "Um..." He muttered out. He didn't know what to say, honestly. "Uh, because you're worth it?" He muttered mindlessly before wanting to punch himself in the face. "Stupid me! How could I say this?!" He looked around at everywhere but Nandini's face, who, was actually looking straight at him smiling.
"She finds me funny?!" He gasped inside.
"Er---I mean..." He stuttered, wondering what to say. Even though Manik was the man of every fangirl's dream, he was also a simple, boy next door. He was the type of guy that liked sweet things... like chocolate. Sweet and nutty.
"I think we haven't really introduced ourselves before." Manik looked straight at Nandini as soon as she spoke. "I'm Nandini."
"I know. You're Nandini Moorthy." She looked at him wide eyed. "I-I mean... I er... I remember you from the casting sessions." She simply nodded, smiling that darned smile of hers again. Manik felt nervous. I mean, it wasn't like he spent at least about two hours last night googling her. Well, he did. But it was for research only! I promise you! It was pure research. "I'm Manik Malhotra."
"Hey guys!" Both of them turned around to see a woman with a camera in her hands. "Loved the filming! Can we take a little interview of you guys?"
Nandini smiled at her. "Sure!" She glanced at Manik who gave her slight nod. "What could honestly go wrong?" He thought.
"Okay, first things first. How would you describe each other?" The interviewer asked as soon as they sat inside the cool, air conditioned room.
"Well..." Nandini began. "Manik is very interesting as a person. He's a good actor and I think we perform well together. We think about how the other would react and we play off each other's strengths. Yeah, we er... we do our shots in like one take."
Manik nodded his head. "Yeah and Nandini..." He looked at her before looking away. "Yeah she's a good actress. She's definitely improved from what I've seen of her. And yeah... yeah she's very good."
"Good?" The interviewer asked.
"Good." Manik responded.
"Okay well... next question. It's a little risqu but... you are each other's love interest in the show, how about in real life? Are you guys single?"
Nandini looked nervously at Manik before answering the question. "Yeah. I'm single." She gave out a little laugh.
Manik looked at her, as if he was captivated by something and suddenly moved towards the microphone. "Unlike Param, my character in the show who is dating Alya's character. I am very much single."
"Oh wow! I guess the fans will be extremely happy with that eh?" The interviewer joked. "Okay, well that concludes our short interview but I'm sure we'll meet again soon." The interviewer left the room with Nandini following behind.
Manik wiped the lone sweat that was running from his forehead. "Phew!" Living up to his notorious nickname, Mysterious Manik was quiet with his personal life. He had never made a blunt remark about his relationship status before, but for some reason... He felt as if he had to say it. He placed his hand on his chest, feeling the thumping of his heartbeat.
"Why do I feel like this?" He asked himself. "Why?" He sat back, relaxing on the sofa; his eyes were closed and his hand still on his chest.
"Manik?" He shot right up, thinking that Nandini was there in front of him. But... It wasn't her.
"Soha?"

GASP! Will Manik get his izzat looted by Soha? Why is she so interested in him? Why is Manik feeling so hot? What could possibly go wrong? Find out in the next part!
Okay. I'm just trolling here but I honestly didn't think anyone would want to read more purely because I'm crap at writing longer fics and I think this one wasn't that funny. But thanks for the kind comments (I think? lol)
Like I said before, it's purely coincidental and these characters do not resemble real people *cough* *cough* (I need to have some medicine) *wink* *wink* *nudge* *nudge*
ha ha ha ha ... how tongue-in-cheek is this!!
i just love it ... nearly feel off my chair laughing at the connotations 😉you got it figured, bro 👏
