There's a reason for that. I am a slave of good music. The soft music, specially of the violin and piano. Give me music which speaks not a word or sentence, but an entire tale, and I'll surrender myself to it. The music which makes my heart flutter, and leap, and fly. That's the kind of music that was played today. Literally. Why does the show even bother using Bollywood songs to express moments which can be called 'romantic'? Why not stick to the show's own music, the show's own instrumental soundtrack? It's far, far, far more beautiful and expressive than most of the songs they use.
That's my personal reason, the biased reason. Now to the finer details of the episode.
I love Fab5. I love what they represent. Not the 'using might to establish superiority' side to them, but the lighter side to them. Their bond. Their trust. Their friendship. Their, as Mukti and Cabir sang, "hum, hum, hum." factor. Their "us. us. us. together." That's what I love about them. Mukti's blind faith that Dhruv will come there without being specifically called. Cabir's staunch belief that when it comes to music, no one can beat them. Dhruv's unwavering resolve that they didn't lose today, they just had a minor setback, nothing they can't overcome. Alya's pure bliss when she stated that at the end of the day, they're together and that's what matters. And Manik? Despite all his distractions, despite his initial annoyance, at the end of it all..he was smiling with pride and joy seeing his friends, no...his family there with him.
It was so interesting to see Harshad's bit. I have a nagging feeling that CVs are pushing him more towards the black pit than letting him remain in the grey area. But I didn't hate/dislike him today, I don't think it's that bad enough for me. His agenda is still the same, break Fab5. In his head, he is close to victory. He has made plans and is starting to lay traps. I was amazed to see his resolve, his ultimate goal. Break the Fab5 so much that they can't even think about music. Music is something that keeps them all together, it's a big factor. Harshad is targeting that. My observation about him still stands right, he is the sharpest player of the game. But even the best fall sometimes. There he was thinking that Fab5 are on the verge of breaking, and here the Fab5 were partying like they didn't lose anything today. In one sense, they didn't. Fab5 are each others' prizes. They are each others' victory. They still have that intact.
Progress, thy name is MaNan.
Just seeing the way Nandini was so freely rummaging through Manik's wardrobe, it made me go all 'awww'. And hey, hey, hey! Manik didn't scold her for it. At least not horribly. I keep using the word 'love' for my feelings when it comes to them but aaah! I can't help it. I just love the way they do the little things they do. More than their physical intimacy, it's the mental comfort level they share which gives me the major wali #feels. Manik is sensible. He didn't waste time arguing and just handed her his trousers.
Pehle jacket, then shirt, and now trousers. Does he even realize that he's started to give her everything? Not just the materialistic things, he's started to give her his attention, his concern, his time. She's occupying everything and he's letting her. Does he even realize it?
I love the actors whose give&take game is strong. Parth and Niti have that. Before them, Kunal and Palak had that (my OTP, RaHi! <3). When I say give&take, I mean how they don't miss one beat. Manik was wrapping the scarf around her face and her eyes were following his hands. She didn't stand still and participated in the scene. I loved that bit. She was frowning, she was displeased, she was letting him do what he was doing. He was ordering, he was impatient, he was in charge. How evident were their places there?
And I specially love the way she was his first thought when silence fell. I loved how he started by checking his phone, in case she had left him any message. And she had. He may call her dumb and loser and idiot but he doesn't take her too lightly. He just rushed up there and searched for her. Good use of technology, he even called her. And when he heard the buzzing of the phone from under the bed, he was confused. But when he saw her, the confusion was replaced by surprise then relief and then a bit of "Uff..iss ladki ka main kya karoon?"
Oh lord, I loved the music that played there. When he took the blanket and wrapped it around her, trying his best not to disturb her much. I loved how he didn't pull her out or wake her up or anything, he just let her be. He acknowledged her exhaustion after the long day and let her have her moment of peace. And when he made sure that she was secured, he fell on the bed, his own exhaustion taking control.
Her, under the bed. Him, over it. Them, together but not still.
And then she woke up. The music that played there, when she got out and saw him sprawled all over the bed. Aaahhh! I can never be over it. So, so, so beautiful <3 She was shocked or surprised or scared ke arey, I slept in the same room as a guy! What she felt was...security. Contentment. Everything comfortable. Allah! How do they do it? How do they not owe each other anything? How do they so easily and quickly repay 'favors'? How can they share such a relationship without being seemingly friendly? If this isn't 'written in the stars' then I don't know what is? She took the blanket which he had used to secure her, and used it to secure him. See, they even share the same source of security.
The way she said, the way she acknowledged that he isn't that bad of a guy as he makes himself to be. That there's good hidden in him. That he is capable of caring. That if he showed it more, he wouldn't be so lonely and misunderstood. I specially love how her acknowledging such things doesn't mean she's attracted to him or she's feeling 'kuch kuch'. It's just natural gratitude she feels. She is seeing the good he has done for her, alongside with the bad, and weighing them. She is not judging him for what he used to be, but her judgement evolves as they get closer and closer. As events and incidents happen, her approach towards him changes. From fear to courage to fearlessness to gratitude...it's not love or friendship. It's the step that two people take when they are on the way to reach that friendship and love. It's not a big leap she has taken, from hate to love. She is taking steps, one at a time. She's moving steadily, she is tasting every emotion that comes in between, she's savoring them, she's letting them change her judgement and affect her. She's being real. When she got out of the house and the driver told her that he has been ordered, so long ago to escort her safely back home, it wasn't surprise she felt. It was an addition to her realization, 'see. you're not a bad guy after all.'
When Manik woke up and that music played, for a moment I thought they were playing "Falling Slowly". I was so shocked! That's my favorite song and the music resembled its starting notes so much but thankfully, it wasn't đ Nonetheless, a beautiful piece.
The first thing that he thought of once he was awake was her. He just checked under the bed for her. He wasn't fully awake, he was in the process of it but she was still ruling her mind. His reaction seeing her note made me chuckle. Same ol' Grumpy Manik đ Nandini's endearing cuteness was evident even in her note. Trust Manik to question her sense and throw the note away, only to get up and pick it up again.
YES, YES, YES! He remembers! He remembers his proximity to her. He remembers all the things he wanted to do to her last night. And he is questioning them. He is sensing that he's losing it and he's taking the obvious route, following the one suggestion which he gave her, 'Run. Run and don't stop.' But we all know that doesn't work. Feelings catch up to you when you least expect them to. Be warned Manik.
Why do people write notes? Well, nothing provides future conflicts than notes being carelessly abandoned.
Aaahh! How the tables have turned! Nandini stopping Manik, Manik ignoring Nandini, Nandini jabbering away, Nandini following Manik, Nandini being all complaining and demanding, Manik being all 'please leave me alone'. I LOVE THE LITTLE THINGS THEY DO!! I love the way she was being in charge, I love the way she didn't let go of her attempts to make him realize the good in him while still calling him Monster Mani. I love the way his threats to her have been become so soft. The blows don't even land anymore. And I effin' love how she doesn't forget anything. He always complained about her lack of smiles and now she paid it back to him. I was saying the same thing a few days ago, Manik tou never smiles in front of Nandini so why does he demand her smile? I love it how she hasn't forgotten all the Fab5 have made her go through, how she has embraced the strength she got when they pushed her to the lowest of the points. I love it how she throws it right in his face.
I bloody loved the way she bit his finger!
Can you see it?! Can you see their progress?! Can you see the way they have reached such a point in their relationship where they are so free to be all expressive regarding their current feelings? Not the deep hidden feelings but the spontaneous ones. Her irritation and his annoyance and his pain and her concern. They never hid any of that and now tou it's coming more in the open.
Awww! He asked about Rishabh's health and talked to him about it. The only two people in the world who go through the same pain of seeing their most beloved battling with unexplained symptoms. I loved the way she brought up their long ago wali conversation, that they can work together for the sake of Dhruv and Rishabh. I loved it how she is confident enough in her new found strength and his newly discovered kindness to ask the 'Monster Manik' about help. She knows that in this matter, he can't be cruel to her. He just can't. What he answers is left to see but good lord, just look at the way they've come so far.
(my longest topic yet. hopefully it'll make up for my absence tomorrow.)
