Hi!
I am totally with the creatives in this matter, addressing this subject on mainstream TV is a difficult thing to do and they deserve applause for attempting it. I had also read that old article about Ayaz probably playing a gay professor, so had kinda expected something along the lines all along. It is heartening to see Indian TV pushing the boundaries, it is not something that happens often and I am glad MTV is taking this step.

The student-teacher situation is a little awkward for me, but that is more a personal thing and has got to do more with the fact that I come from a family full of teachers. I am however willing to keep an open mind about this and see what the CVs have in store for us. It is a delicate subject, so hope the CVs treat it right.

I guess some of Ayaz's fans are a bit disappointed, but if you look at it, being gay adds more layers to Cabir as a character. Ayaz is a fine actor and he will do justice to the role surely. As a performer, this is Ayaz's chance to do something unique and unseen on Indian TV.

I think u right that the idea of Cabir being gay is new coz initially i do believe that cavya were destined to happen there r many indications of it in the initial episodes...i will b honest and will admit that i was a strong shipper of cavya...and before reading ur post i was impressed by the fact that a sensitive topic such as homosexuality was being addressed in an indian show but deep inside me the cavya shipper was thinking...Y CABIR????....y not someone else...i got my answer now...its really weird but in india the portrayal of gay characters in done in a really cliched manner ...where they r shown to b obsessed with the color pink or shown to b talking or moving around in a peculiar manner...such portrayals r false and mocking in a way...so having a cool, popular guy like cabir...who is good looking and very macho in his outlook will definitely help to break that mold...i just hope they handle this topic with care.

I am happy that Mtv is using this platform to spread awareness about Homosexuality . Loads of stereotyping, misconceptions and hesitation can be removed through it.
But considering the demographic it should be handled with care, they need to maintain sensitivity and don't give a candy floss treatment. This should give strength to youngsters who find it difficult to express their sexuality.

But my problem is the student-teacher thing, because that is power based equation. Where if we go by logic there would be a substantial age difference between Raghav and Cabir. The former might be sure of his sexuality but Cabir is a confused soul. Also since they showed the mentor kinda role of Raghav , I just don't feel comfortable with his relationship with a student who is part of his classroom. The sentiments would have been same if it was a so-called straight relationship.

My hope with cvs is that ,they don't mess up with the track because with this teacher-student angle they have entered a little bit of grey area .

I am really relieved that someone showed this issue. It was initially shown once in Webbed I suppose.

It is an issue which needs to be raised and talked about. You can't deny that gays/lesbians exist and they are also humans.

Best part is that Kabir is shown like any of us...because he is any of us. Not a specific way of walking and talking...Ayaz is bringing life to the character.

I personally haven't met any homosexual person in my life and I don;t know how my reaction would be THEN but I just hope that KYY helps in making me stick to my words---They are US only.😎
