But first - can I say I just loved the way Rai Sir (that's his name, right?) completely disregarded Fab5 and gave Harshad all the credit of bringing international popularity to S.P.A.C.E? It kind of suited Fab5 right. They always go prancing around acting like they are above everyone else while all they've done is win some contest of being the best band. Now they act like they are some sort of rulers and everyone is to fall on their feet and kiss the very ground they walk on. While I giggled at Cabir's open challenge to their professor, the professor is right. If they don't get their act together, sooner or later they will be the ones facing criminal charges, not some fancy spotlight.
I'll take that as foreshadowing and moving on.
Navya is lattoo on Harshad and that suits her character. Nandini is eternally grateful to him which is good because I didn't want her to have any romantic feelings for him. Gratitude is fine because he has always helped her. But Manik is not the one to leave her so soon.
( Can I just say I love the way Manik always leans down to face her? 😆)
Khair, the contract is signed by Nandini so her answer to his demands was always to be affirmative. Though some would say she would've fought back, I think she did the logical thing seeing the circumstances. Manik, not once but twice, painted the picture of her family's financial status so clearly in front of her. She is not the kind who wants to burden her family and puts them first. Example - she joining S.P.A.C.E, a place she loathed at first sight, only for the sake of her brother's treatment going smoothly without financial roadblocks. She really didn't have any choice.
While Manik's 3 Big Rules seem suffocating, I can already see many loopholes which can allow Nandini to make her stance of hating him be known while abiding to his rules. I just hope she has enough head on her shoulders to think about them and not blindly follow him. But then again, she is in the contract to blindly follow him in the first place so I won't hope much on that. Though seriously, one scene of Manik being in some trouble and calling "Nandini!" for help and Nandini standing there without doing anything because hey, she is only supposed to answer to "Spot" and nothing else 😉
Now, the troubling canteen part.
Fab5 sans Dhruv want revenge. Manik, being the leader, promises it. It all started with Cabir, Mukti and Alya seriously questioning Manik's state of mind. Which kind of makes me think if Manik does all he does to please his friends more than actually showing his power. It's like all his bullying is to assure his friends that yes, he has it in his position that he can do all he wants instead of doing it to please some sadistic side of him. I'm sure if left to his own devices, he'd be only jamming in the practice room while keeping this cold aura around him that he doesn't want anyone's proximity, thank you very much.
I'll say why I don't mind the shoe cleaning part - cuz of Dhruv. While the Fab5 were hooting and cheering with joy at seeing Nandini's silent submission to their power, did you notice the look on Dhruv's face? At first he was fidgeting with his cap like he doesn't want to be there. Nandini saw that and realized that he wouldn't say anything. And when she got to the shoe cleaning, Dhruv steadily looked at her with such disappointment. And rage. Like he couldn't believe she was doing it. He thought her to be so much more than that, so much stronger than to silently bend to Manik's wishes but here she was, acting like his slave and positioning herself at his feet level, ready to be walked over on.
Dhruv was letdown by Nandini. And he didn't have to say anything. I just love it how one single camera pan on his face told us all about his stance about the issue. He didn't have to say much, just give one look and I could see what he was feeling. And that's commendable! CVs! Do this more often! Dhruv doesn't even need lines! Few seconds on his face can convey about his character much more substantially than long scenes can do about others.
Harshad becomes the knight and is shot down by the damsel. Yeah dude, keep your hands off sometimes. Navya doesn't like that. And I don't like her character. Much. She seems so shallow. Despite knowing how horrible Fab5 can be, her world still revolves around them. The way she suggested that Nandini was doing all that for Fab5's friendship had me wincing. Seriously? And you call Nandini your best friend? She is always so one-sided in her thought process and doesn't stop to think about what the other person's feelings are on the subject. If I were to meet someone line Navya, I would immediately blacklist her from my life. She can be funny at times but mostly she comes off as some self-centered, insensitive prick.
Spot has become Shadow and she seems resigned to that. Manik is leaving no stone unturned to make her life hell and I wait for the day she pays it back to him with interest. Precap was hell interesting. I'd like to believe Dhruv's rage episode was triggered by Nandini's silent submission. The guy is a mystery and Nandini is stirring something in him. If only we got this subject more explored -_-
And one thing which no one is bringing up - the star connection. I am hell intrigued about this star which connects Dhruv-Manik with Nandini-Rishabh. The meteors which took away Nandini's parents caused Rishabh to feel suffocated and took his voice, gave Dhruv rage episodes and bestowed Manik with his best friend. Fate is at play here and I would like to see her cars please.
