has lost _HER_ child.
The first setting is Josh's hotel room. KS is waiting for Josh in the reception
area when AK (ie, Angad Khanna) speaks to her. She is quite livid and waiting
to stalk out. But AK asks her to give him a hearing and she finally relents.
They talk like adversaries, with their backs to each other. He says that he'd
been wanting to talk to her since the day they lost their child. She explodes
at that point, saying that it was her child and her child alone that she lost. He
is hurt and lets that go. He says that there have been people building walls
between them, and that everything's been a misunderstanding, but would
she please give him a chance to explain. She cuts him off, saying that all that
she's ever done was listen and that would no longer be the case. Effectively
she says that she has no longer any feelings, no beliefs in love, commitments,
marriage, happiness; nothing other than to make sure that he is destroyed.
When she talks of having lost her faith in love, AK is crushed. At that point,
he shuts down and gives up. He understands when she says that she's a
machine targetted at destroying him that she means every syllable.
Josh comes back and finds AK with a bowed head, and hears him say that
he knows and accepts that KS is filled only with hatred, and that he, AK
will make sure that he gives her all his help to achieve her target. Josh looks
like he wants to do something else, when in walks Mishti. Josh and his lady
excuse themselves. Mishti then asks AK why she is always in a situation where
she is asking him for explanations. She asks why he engineered such a huge
financial loss on her company by screwing up the concert. He pre-empts her
and says that he knows that such a loss was large, but that he has had his
accountant draw up a cheque to her mother covering all the losses. Mishti
is aghast -- that is a huge amount, probably taking all the savings that AK
has ever put together in his entire life of work. But AK is immovable.
(A note at this point: this serial has always been and is still all about AK. When
he's cheeky and perky, the serial's perky. When he's arrogant and charged,
the serial's charged. Right now, he is completely down in the dumps and the
mood of the serial is exactly that. There's not a smile that MIKhan lets out
at anypoint, and there's not a whisper of joy in one's heart while watching
the serial. At one point, I was cringing in my chair when AK was practically
begging KS to listen to him -- a guy who had been such a star should not
have to do such things, you feel, no matter what he has done. :-( )
Mishti walks in the rain to her car, regretting that she has ended up making
her beloved AK so miserable and so bereft. She sits in the car, crying and
cursing KS for having destroyed her happiness. Mishti swears that she will
get back at KS somehow. Then suddenly, there's a tap at her window -- it's
Josh, offering her a handkerchief to wipe her tears and a chance to be
comforted. She refuses and dismisses him, telling him to go away. Hmm,
the winds appear to be in the favour of getting Mishti and Josh together...
At the Bose home, the cheque has landed up in Mrs. Bose's hands, and she
is very disturbed. Mishti runs in to find her mom being troubled at AK having
handed over his life's savings to cover her losses. Both she and Mishti talk and
the mother counsels that Mishti ought to be a friend to AK rather than try to
hound him to love her. Mishti agrees to her mother that this might be the
better way to proceed rather than what she'd tried earlier.
(Note at this point: if the writers/producers/director even dream of not having
AK and KS come together to be snugglebunnies forever, I will do something
terribly drastic like start a protest march/hunger strike outside Balaji Studios!!)
Meanwhile, there's the return of the evil Khanna family members -- Naina
and Karthik!! He is livid because AK has transferred all his (AK's own) money
to Mrs. Bose. Naina joins him in wringing her hands over her fast approaching
poverty-stricken situation. Karthik yells at her about the stupidity of having
allowed AK to keep and having the authority over his own account.
Our hero walks in at this point (BTW, folks, don't you think AK ambles like
a little bear??!) and the whole focus of their anger shifts to his little head.
Karthik -- very, very foolishly -- loudly demands by what right AK took the
decision into his own hands of what to do with _their_ money. For the first
time in a long time, our boy's face and voice hardens when he said that he
had the right of the money having been earned by his hard work and
enterprise. Karthik sneers and asks what AK thought they (Naina and he)
were doing while AK was going all the work -- weren't they working as well?
What right did AK have to destroy their lives? AK shoots back that they
should've thought about that while they were busy destroying his life and his
happiness.
It would've come to a really nasty set of blows, if Mishti had not walked in with
a business proposal. There's a perfume company looking for a person to model
their product, and she thinks AK is perfect for it. AK says no outright. But she
persuades him to at least talk to the company.
At the company, the MD/HR guy drools all over AK saying that he is perfect,
and that all they need is a girl to match the female side of the product. They've
identified a new person who would match AK quite wonderfully. No prizes in
guessing that they've identified KS. AK freezes. He says that KS will say no
once she discovers that the male end is being done by AK. The MD has to
leave to take a call, leaving Mishti and AK alone to talk. Mishti offers to talk to
KS to take the assignment. AK looks stunned. Mishti explains that it could be
an opportunity for her, Mishti, to start repairing the relationship between
Prithvi and herself, and that she would do it immediately, if AK does not have
a problem with the situation.
The next thing we know, KS opens the door of her apartment and finds
Mishti standing at the other end, glowering at her.
End of episode.
Sigh. I don't know what to make of it all. It's become a roller-coaster ride with
a large number of new possibilities. All I know is that AK was crushed by KS'
response in the first part and I don't feel much like caring about anything else.
Sigh, sigh, double sigh. Life without a happy, charged, focussed on good things
AK, snuggling up with KS, is not worth looking forward to.. Sigh.
