I hope I can clear your confusion.The jailer reduced Angad's sentence to one year on the grounds of good behavior. This point was highlighted to show how Shabbir helped Angad thats all.
Angad, inspite of a reduced sentence manages to escape much before the completion of his sentence. He bribes the jailer to make believe(to the other officials in jail) that Angad Khanna died in the accident.
He also bribes the jailer to tell Prithvi that that he died 3 days before. That means, No matter when Prithvi would have called him, his official death would have been 3 days before.So that every possibility of Angad haunting Kripa in Dubai is ruled out and it is confirmed that Kripa is actually hallucinating.
Do you remember the assistant actually asked the jailer why he lied to Naina Khanna?
Some flashback here- Naina is told that Angad died of some illness while she was away in Dubai, the same version that was told to Prithvi.
While the other policemen actually think that Angad died months back in that accident.In effect- Angad is officially dead.
