This is for my Chatri:
A slender figure stared down at the weeds growing in the river flowing by. She is clad in a light blue sari. The wind is blowing her pallu away into darkness. Her hair blows to a side, exposing the long silver earrings she is wearing. She looks like a star in the dark night as she stands there, by the river bank and moves a strand of hair behind her ear which the wind has blown onto her face. Her bangles clink together and join with the wind to make a beautiful sound in the noiseless night. A young man is walking towards her. He wears pink shirt and faded blur jeans. His features make him look handsome and give him a slick look. His long strides show off his tall height. As he nears the pretty girl beside the river, he slows down. His footsteps don't even make a sound anymore. He goes behind the girl and wraps his arm around her waist. The girl shivers at his touch. She recognizes it and closes her eyes against the unruly wind which now seems determined to blow them both away. The young man hangs his head and let his lips linger on her delicate shoulder. She frees herself from his grip and feels the place where his lips had been moments ago burn. Yet, he manages to grab her hand. His hand clasps around tighter around her bangles and she fears they might break from his strong grip. She looks up at him and see's him staring at her, his eyes full of warmness. The warmness wraps itself around her and hugs her soul. He brings her closer to him. A few of her bangles break, falling on the rock they are standing on, making tinkling noises. But, sigh, what happens next isn't what the young girl or the young man had expected. The young man's feet slips off of the rock they are standing on and he lands straight into the ditch beside them. The young girl stand there, shocked. A few moments later he appears; his face splattered and blotched with mud. The young girl looks at him and shakes with uncontrollable laughter.
"Swaaaaaaaati!" he yells at her in a playful voice. He jumps out of the mud, running behind the pretty girl. He chases her as she tries to run from his reach. He gets a mischievous look in those warm brown eyes and dodges her into the same ditch just fell in. The girl runs, runs into the ditch and before she knows it, she is lying on her back in the muddy ditch. The young man jumps on her and she finds herself lying under his muscular and beautifully shaped body. She laughs, finding it funny, despite the situation. He looks down at her and smiles, seeing her so happy, so alive. She glows like no other to him. Suddenly it starts to rain. In a matter of moments they're both soaked, lying on each other, their eyes locked in an intense stare. The air is still windy, but they both remain still even though they are being drenched. Some of her hair clings onto his neck he doesn't bother moving it, instead he touches her cheek and a look of love overcomes the girl.
"I love you, Swati", he whispers softly.
"I love you too, Abhi", she says it back to him.
They both walk away holding hand in hand into the dark rainy night, leaving behind the ditch, forever holding the memories of the two lovers which once fell it in.
