Vikas Sethi has lost oodles of weight and is sporting a young dapper look these days. "Yes, I have lost around 17 kilos in the last few months," he says. But why the drastic weight loss? "When you are slim you look good on screen. You are healthy when you lose the extra weight. Besides, I'm not getting any younger! Of course I do look young. Also, there are lots of young kids on TV today with good bodies. We have to compete with them."
So how did he achieve his goal? Did he go on a crash diet? "Not at all. No dietary restrictions at all. I've lost weight only by running. I ran for an hour everyday. Now that I've reached the weight I wanted to, I have to maintain it and stay fit."
On the work front, the show that got him a lot of popularity Kahiin To Hoga has wrapped up. But he continues to play the bad guy in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. Talking about playing negative roles, he says, "It's surely more challenging and people seem to love bad guys these days."
Vikas, who got into acting with the film Oops in 2001 and later moved to television, is happy with the way his career has shaped up. "TV has given me a lot. Kahiin To Hoga gave me name, fame and money. I have no complaints. As far as films are concerned, maybe I didn't try enough or probably the right offers didn't come my way. I preferred doing good work on television than doing inconsequential movies." But films surely are on his mind. "I want to do both, movies and television," he says.
