| | | | WOMAN ON TOP: Gurpreet Kaur, aka Kanishka, and Gurpreet Singh | After four months of speculation, gossip and denials, Gurpreet Singh (who acts as Sujal Grewal in Kahiin Toh Hoga) married Gurpreet Kaur (screen name, Kanishka), in a hush-hush civil ceremony on August 25, at the Marriage Registration office in the MHADA building, Bandra (East).
The marriage was attended by close friends of Gurpreet, Kanishka's younger sister, Riddhima and brother Sunny, his best friend, and other family friends, including TV producer Harvinder Malik.
The producer, who is a friend of the bride, confirms the news. "It's true that they got married around noon yesterday. Her family was present — from Gurpreet's side, a couple of his close friends were there as witnesses.
Gurpreet and Kanishka had planned a big social wedding in Chandigarh on August 6.

"I have not got married," says Kanishka. "Why do you want to write about our marriage and spoil our careers?" she questions. "It's difficult for an actress to be married and have a career. Please don't stop us from earning my living. I have completed the shooting of all films, so there isn't any problem."
Has she ever thought about a career on TV — a lot of TV actresses are married. "Though initially I wasn't keen on doing TV, today I am open to serials if there are good offers and the money is good. I would love to play Aamna's role as Kashish in Kahiin Toh Hoga."
"Please don't write about the marriage," pleads Gurpreet when contacted, but quickly adds, "You can write about our engagement. Why do you want to ruin our careers? Abhi shaadi nahin ki," he mumbles. The engagement
The marriage follows the engagement, which took place on July 6. Says Kanishka, "Both our families (besides his parents, Gurpreet has an older and a younger brother; all of them live in Chandigarh) and some close family friends were present at the engagement ceremony, which took place for about two hours in a gurudwara in Chandigarh." Gurpreet and Kanishka met for the first time last May, during the shooting of Madhubala, directed by Shivram Yadav; it is slated for release in August or September. Adds the film's producer, Rajoo Kariya, "Gurpreet and Kanishka have been living together in Versova for the last few months. Though they met during the making of the film, they fell in love only during the end.
