Hey all - this is just an attempt to rid myself of this excessive boredom and to find a new way to procrastinate😆😆
Ever wondered what the names of your favourite characters mean, and how far they resemble the person they are attached to? Well, I've always found this interesting - whatever her faults, Ekta K. does have a habit of finding somewhat suitable names for her characters - names that denote their personalities from the word 'go'. So, here goes my attempt to explain the meanings of some of these names...
Now, this is going to be confusing, as there is a HUGE turnover of characters in this show…so I'm going to try and assemble the list in alphabetical order! Wherever there is an unfamiliar/long-forgotten character, I will add their surname OR relationship in parentheses, and where there is more than one character with the same name, I will also add this in parentheses.

Some interesting connections:
Gauri & Ishan = Ishan is another name for Lord Shiva, and Gauri is another name for Parvati, his wife. Thus, Ishan & Gauri become Lord Shiva & Parvati! 😳😆 (Not literally, I hasten to add!😆 What I mean is - their names suggest that they were always meant for one another!)
Maithili & Janki are both names of Goddess Sita.
Gauri & Parvati are connected through their names, as – ironically – is Rajeshwari! 😆 All three are names of the Goddess Parvati, wife of Lord Shiva.
Ashu & Ishan are connected by their names: both are names of Lord Shiva!!
And there you have it! Now you can all see the meanings of these characters' names and see which ones live up to them! A lot of them seem to be apt for when the characters were introduced – Rishika, Pranay, Deven etc – but as the show twisted and turned, the meanings were put aside…
This list is by no means extensive – these are just some names that I remembered off the top of my head. And it is quite possible that some of these names have other/more/different meanings. Feel free to add/correct me if you have better knowledge. Also, feel free to add any names I may have missed out😳
Hope you liked this topic...and now...back to the essay-writing😆
