Chapter - 2
Anubhav was rooted to his spot seeing Gungun lying in the pool of blood! So it was Gungun who was hit by the bike. Everything felt blank around him. His worst fear came true! Meanwhile Yug informed evryone about Gungun's accident and all came running towards the road. "Gungun beta aakhein kholo apni. Utho beta. Dekho tumhre papa ek doctor hai. Woh apni beti ko kuch nahi hone dega", cried Dr. Riddhesh. "Humein ise turant hospital le jana parega, bohot blood loss ho chuki hai iski" he said further. Dr. Riddhesh carried his daughter and laid her in the passenger seat of their car. Today he himself drove to Saraswati Nivaas so his driver wasn't present too. Although he felt already broken today, Gungun's accident further came as a blow to him. But now Gungun was more important to him than anything else, more than his own sorrow! He was going to sit in the driver's seat that he heard Anubhav voice asking him, "Sir mujhe bhi chalna hai aapke saath hospital, please." He saw Anubhav with folded hands and tears in his eyes. His voice sounded so broken. Dr. Riddhesh too didn't want to waste any time arguing so he simply nodded his head in a "Yes." Anubhav immediately opened the door of the passenger seat and sat inside the car. He lifted an unconcious Gungun's head and gently put it on his lap. Dr. Riddhesh started his car and drove towards the nearest hospital. Here outside Saraswati Nivaas the rest of the Kulshreshthas and Garima Bua decided to reach the hospital as soon as possible.
During the whole journey Anubhav kept saying "Tumhe kuch nahi hoga Gungun. Tum toh strong girl ho na. Tumhe kuch nahi ho sakta. Mai tumhe kuch hone hi nahi dunga." "Abhi tak toh mujhe tumse maafi maangne ka bhi mauka nahi mila. Kya tum apne Chant Chashmish ko maafi maangne ka ek mauka bhi nahi dogi? Accha mere liye naa sahi lekin apne Papa aur Bua k liye toh aakhein kholo, Gungun!" cried Anubhav. In between, they reached the Lucknow City Hospital within 25 minutes. Dr. Riddhesh stepped out of the car and said "Anubhav beta tum yehi Gungun k paas ruko mai stretcher arrange karta hu." Anubhav nodded his head in reply. Dr. Riddhesh soon came back with a stretcher and two ward boys to carry Gungun inside the hospital. Gungun was immediately taken inside the hospital with Anubhav and Dr. Riddhesh beside her.
"Doctor please check my daughter. Uski accident ho gayi hai aur bohot blood loss hui hai. Please arrange an OT please", broke down Dr. Riddhesh. Anubhav held Dr. Riddhesh from behind. He himself wasn't in a very good state of mind. He felt guilty. He held himself responsible for Gungun's condition. Dr. Singh, the senior surgeon of the hospital said "Dr. Riddhesh aap humara jana pehchana hai upar se aap khud ek doctor hai toh mai aapko jhoota dilasa nahi dunga, seeing the amount of blood lost, abhi kuch kehna bohot mushkil hai. Now kindly excuse me taki mai OT ready kar saku." And Gungun was immediately taken inside the OT and and her surgery commenced. In between the Kulshreshthas and Garima Bua had reached the hospital too. Garima Bua immediately asked "Bhaiya meri Gungun kaha hai? Use kuch hua toh nahi na? Woh thik toh hai na?" "Haa doctor sahab kuch toh batayie kaha hai Gungun?" asked Chandru. "Use abhi OT mein le gaya hai. Uski surgery chal rahi hai. Aur Dr. Singh ka kehna hai ki abhi kuch nahi kaha ja sakta. Mujhe ek call karna hai please excuse me." said a tired Dr. Riddhesh and went outside to make a phone call.
Golu Chachu and gang came and sat beside Anubhav. Anubhav couldn't hold longer. He hugged his Golu Chachu and broke down. "Sab meri galti hai Chachu, sab meri galti. Kaash mai bhi aapke jaise Gungun pe bharosa kar liya hota uss din, toh naa aaj yeh din dekhne ki naubat aati aur naa Gungun ki accident hoti. Sab kuch mere wajah se hua hai. Agar aaj Gungun ko kuch ho gaya toh mai khud ko kabhi bhi maaf nahi kar paunga Chachu", wept Anubhav. "Haa chachu hum log bhi kabhi khud ko maaf nahi kar payenge. Galti sirf Anu ki nahi hum sab ki hai" said Neeti and everyone seconded her. Meanwhile Garima Bua and the senior Kulshreshthas were sitting tensed in the hospital bench when Dr. Riddhesh came back said, "Jo kuch bhi hua usmein Aakriti k saath saath Maya ki bhi utni hi haath thi jiske liye mai use kabhi maaf nahi kar paunga aur aaj bhi sharminda hu. Aur woh humare saath reh bhi nahi thi. Gungun ne usko party wale raat hi ghar se nikaal di thi. Lekin woh jaise bhi ho hai toh uski Maa hi na. Toh mujhe naa chahte hue bhi use Gungun ki accident ki khabar dena para. Ab woh aayegi ya nahi aayegi woh uski marzi. Mujhe pata hai ki aap logo k liye uss aurat ko dobara face karna bohot muskil hoga. Mai khud bhi use face karna nahi chahata hu lekin mai situation k haathon majboor hu. I hope ki aap log mere bhavnao ko samjhenge." "Doctor Sahab hum aapki bhavnao ko samajh sakte hai." said Divya. "Humein koi problem nahi hai doctor sahab. Problem toh unko humse thi, humesha se. Hum asha karte hai ki woh aaj aur koi tamasha nahi karegi." said Golu. Hearing this Dr. Riddhesh said, "Mai aap sab se waada karta hu ki uss aurat ko aaj mai koi tamasha karne nahi dunga aur naa hi aap logo ki beizzati, I promise." Hearing this the Kulshreshthas sighed in relief. They could no longer bear another humiliation by that lady! A nurse came out of the OT and came towards Dr. Riddhesh and said "Patient ki heavy blood loss hui hai sir aur humein OB negative blood chahiye jo abhi k liye humare blood bank mein available nahi hai. Please jald se jald blood ka arrange kijiye warna patient ki bachne ki chance kam ho jayegi." Saying this she was going inside the OT when Anubhav said, "Mai dunga Gungun ko khoon. Nurse mera blood group bhi OB negative hai. Aap please mujhse khoon le lijiye lekin Gungun ko bacha lijiye, please." pleaded Anubhav. This is the least he could do for Gungun after what he did with her before. He felt God has given him a path to repent his deeds and he tanked him for this. "Thik hai lekin usse pehle aapka kuch test karna parega toh aap mere saath chaliye." saying this the nurse along with Anubhav went to the other side for testing.
Sunanda, Sargam, Divya, Goli, Neeti, Khushi, Chavi and Garima went towards the hospital temple and started praying for Gungun's successful surgery. The others were sitting tensed and praying for her. Dr. Riddhesh had lines of anxiety clearly etched on his face when he heard, "Riddhesh! Kaha hai meri Gungun? Aur yeh accident kaise hua?" came Dr. Maya's voice. "Maya woh Gungun...." Dr. Riddhesh had just started to speak when he was interrupted by Maya, "Aur yeh middle class family yaha kya kar raha hai? Don't tell me yeh accident inn logo ki wajah se hua!" spatted Maya. The Kulshreshthas already felt guilty after knowing the truth and Maya's word worked as a salt in their wound. They knew that today somewhere she was right. If not directly but indirectly they were the reason Gungun was hanging between life and death inside. "Maya enough! Not a single word now! Uss din tumne mujhe mauka nahi diya tha kuch bhi bolne ka lekin aaj nahi. Tum yehi chup ho jao toh tumhare liye behtar hai." said a furious Riddhesh. "But Riddhesh mai toh bas....", Maya tried to say something but she was cut off by Dr. Riddhesh, "Tumhara aur Aakriti ka sach sabke saamne aa chuka hai Maya. Sab ko pata chal gaya kaise tum aur Aakriti ne milkar plan banaye the Gungun aur Anubhav ki shaadi todne ki. Kaise Aakriti ne Anubhav ko chalaki se drink pila di pani ki jagah. Tum dono ki aapas mein baatein. Sab kuch record hua hai humare ghar k CCTV mein." Hearing Riddhesh Maya's face changed its color. She knew their game was over now. No one could save them now. "Toh isiliye chupchap Gungun se milna aur jaha se aayi ho wahi wapas laut jana! Waise toh mere haath mein hota toh jo dhoka tumne uss bechari bacchi ko diya hai uske baad mai kabhi bhi tumhe Gungun se milne nahi deta. Lekin kya karu? Badkisamti se tum uski sagi Maa ho isliye mujhe majbooran tumhe yaha bulana para." said Dr. Riddhesh. Hearing him Maya became quiet. Meanwhile Anubhav too returned after donating his blood. While returning he heard whatever Dr. Riddhesh said to Maya and he was thankful for it. They all waited for Gungun's surgery to successfully get over.
After 2 hours Dr. Singh finally came out of the OT. Gungun was shifted to a Deluxe Cabin. "Kya hua Doctor Sahab? Gungun ab kaisi hai? Woh khatre se bahar toh hai na?", asked Goli. "Dekhiye jab tak use hosh nahi aati hai kuch kehna mushkil hoga. Aur agle 24 hours uske liye bohot critical hai toh humein use observation mein rakhna parega. Aur Dr. Riddhesh mujhe aapse kuch important baat karna hai toh aap please mere cabin mein aa jayiye." said Dr. Singh. "Doctor kya hum Gungun se mil sakte hai?" asked Garima. "Ji thodi der baad mil sakte hai lekin 3 logo se zyada nahi. Aur haa use koi stress mat dijiyega abhi." saying this he went towards his cabin along with Dr. Riddhesh.
So it was decided that Garima and Maya would go inside to meet Gungun. And the third person to join them both was Anubhav. They went inside Gungun's cabin. "Gungun beta", cooed Garima Bua. Gungun could feel someone calling her name but couldn't decipher who it was. Very slowly she opened her eyes. As soon as she did, she was greeted with the bright lights of her cabin which somehow pricked her eyes. It was difficult for her eyes to get adjusted to the bright lights. Suddenly she could feel heavy pain on her head. She couldn't understand why it pained. She looked around and was trying to understand where she was when she heard "Gungun beta ab tujhe kaisa lag raha hai? Koi pareshaani toh nahi ho rahi hai na?". Her "Boo" aka her Bua. The voice was of her Bua. "Boo yeh mai kaha hu aur meri itni headache kyu ho rahi hai?" asked Gungun. "Beta teri accident ho gayi thi. Tujhe ek bike ne dhakka mara aur teri sar pe gehri chot aayi thi. Bhaiya tujhe hospital lekar aaya tha. Teri surgery hui hai but don't worry tu ab bilkul thik hai." said Garima. Gungun still didn't notice Maya or Anubhav. "Boo aap papa ko bula do na mujhe unse milna hai, please." requested Gungun.
"Dr. Singh kya hua? Gungun thik toh hai na? Aapne aise mujhe yaha kyu bulaya hai?" asked a worried Dr.Riddhesh as he entered Dr. Singh's cabin. "Dekiye mai aapko darraane k liye nahi keh raha hu lekin mai bas yeh keh raha hu ki aap bhi khud ek doctor hai aur aap jante hai ki aisa case kitna critical hota hai. Toh ho sakta hai ki......" As soon as Dr. Singh completed his sentence Dr. Riddhesh was aghast! No! This can't happen! He thought.
"Thik hai beta mai Bhaiya ko bulati hu lekin usse pehle dekh toh sahi kon aaya hai tujhse milne." said Garima. "Gungun beta ab kaisa feel ho raha hai?" Hearing Dr. Maya's voice Gungun was surprised. "Dr. Maya! Aap kab aayi? Aur itne dino k baad aapko achanak se meri yaad kaise aa gayi?", asked Gungun in a deadpan voice. Hearing her Maya was surprised. She said, "Yeh tum kya bol rahi ho beta? Mai toh yaha kab se hu." "Kab se hai aap yaha?" asked a startled Gungun. Anubhav was still unnoticed by Gungun so he came forward and said, "Itna stress mat lo Gungun doctor ne mana kiya hai." Gungun was surprised to hear Anubhav's voice. So she kept staring at his face in confusion. Seeing her staring at him Anubhav raised his eyebrows and asked, "Aise kya ghoor rahi ho mujhe?" when she answered, "Kon hai aap?" Anubhav froze in his spot. He knew Gungun was angry with him, and why not? After what he did with her angry was such a small term but Gungun addressing him as "aap" instead of "tum" and her not recognizing him was too much to take for him. Dr. Singh and Dr. Riddhesh too had joined them by this time inside Gungun's cabin. Dr. Singh was carefully observing Gungun's behaviour. "Gungun mujhe pata hai tum mujhse naraaz ho aur tumhari narazgi jayaz bhi hai lekin please aise mazak mat karo mere saath please", Anubhav said in a quvering voice hoping for a positive response but Gungun's next reply shattered his hope. "Maine kaha na mai nahi janti aapko, kon hai aap aur aapko mera naam kaise pata?" Monitoring Gungun's reaction Dr. Singh stated, "Jiska humein darr tha wohi hua Dr. Riddhesh." Hearing him Maya asked in an alarming voice, "Doctor kya hua meri beti ko? Woh aise kyu behave kar rahi hai?" What Dr. Singh revealed blew everyone's mind! "Gungun is suffering from Partial Amnesia. Aur isiliye woh apni life ki kuch section bhool chuki hai!", he said. This information completely jolted Garima, Maya and Anubhav!
