AnuGun Drabble- Reality Check
“Chashmish, help me with this na.” Gungun said as she tried her best to remove the uncountable hairpins on her head
Anubhav got up from the bed awkwardly. He had never had a girlfriend in his life and now he had a wife. This was too much for him and Gungun seemed extremely comfortable in his room.
When he entered the room, she was coming out of the washroom complaining about the right to pee for brides. He wondered if this was all new only for him.
They had grown comfortable in last few weeks with each other. Anubhav somewhere had started feeling for Gungun as well. He was scared of his feelings. He hadn’t planned this.
“Kitne ghante lagane wale ho? Sar dukh rha hai.” She whined
“Oh sorry”
Anubhav focused on the hairpins and removed them one by one. As he plucked the last pin out, her hair slipped down and he didn’t realise he held his breath seeing the beauty in front of him.
“Chashmish? Aur koi pin hai?”
“Kya?… Nai… Nai hai”
“Kya hua hai tumhe? Tum theek toh ho?” She turned around and put her palm on his head checking him
“All good.” He ran away to the washroom
Gungun sat there confused wondering what was wrong with Anubhav. She reached her mangalsutra and decided to keep it there. She stared at it unable to digest they actually got married.
She heard the door open and stared at her husband.
“I can’t believe this. We got married” she held her mangalsutra.
“Happy realisation. Congratulations.”
“Congratulations to you too.” She smiled and sat in front of him on the bed
“Kitna ajeeb hai ye sab”
“Sirf ek saal. Uske baad kar lena jise tumhe karni ho shadi.” She spoke hinting about Akriti
“Tum toh aise baat kar rai ho jaise mere liye puri zindagi kawari rehne wali ho.”
“Tumhare liye nai par haa. Humare divorce ke baad mai dusri shadi nai karungi. Mere liye ye kaafi hai.” She spoke casually as she reached the dressing table removing her ornaments
“Kyu?”
“I don’t believe in the institution of marriage. Meri family mein ek bhi shadi nai chali.”
“Matlab ye ek saal ki deal?”
“Of course I’ll keep it. I will free you don’t worry.”
“Hmm.”
“Tumhari kabhi koi girlfriend nai rahi na?”
“Nahi.”
“I’m sorry tumhari zingdagi mein aake ye ek saal hijack karne ke liye.”
“Kya ho gaya hai tumhe.” He walked to the dressing table
“You’re inexperienced. I feel bad.”
“You’re experienced?”
“Of course mere boyfriends rahe hai”
“Aur kya hota hai in relationships mein? Just general knowledge ke liye puch rha hoon.”
“We go on dates, hang out, see movies, go shopping and party that’s it.”
“Aur?”
“Aur kya?”
“I mean you know I’m inexperienced. How was your first kiss?” He dared to ask finally
“I have never had one. I was never that comfortable with any of my boyfriends.”
Anubhav mentally danced. She was actually naive and he managed to understand her boyfriend theory.
“Mai tumhari first girlfriend hoon na?”
“Kya?” He came out of his thoughts
“Mai tumhari first girlfriend hoon na?”
“Tum meri wife ho.”
“Nai par like this is a romantic relationship na? I mean hamare beech aisa kuch nai hai par sabke hisaab se. So I’m your first partner, girlfriend and wife. Nai?”
“But why would you want to be my girlfriend when you’re already my wife?”
“Mai.. mai nai chahti tum muje bhool jao.”
“Aisa tumhe kyu lagta hai?”
“Ek saal baad koi muje as your wife replace kar dega. Par mai hamesha tumhari first girlfriend rahungi. Irreplaceable.” She smiled finally feeling light with all the ornaments off.
“Tum muje nai bhool jaogi?”
“Tum mere pehle aur akhri pati ho. Tumhe aur iss shadi ko kaise bhula de sakti hoon. Finally ek ladki hoon. Feelings hai meri.” She looked at him with strange emotions
She was unsure why she wanted Anubhav to always remember her but him forgetting her gave her immense pain.
He realised she had abandonment issues. He wondered if she somewhere felt the same way as she did. He wanted to give them a chance. Maybe they would work out but he was unsure how to convey the same to her.
“Can you go in the washroom. I can’t change this heavy lengha in the washroom”
“I understand”
Anubhav walked inside the washroom confused. He had never thought few weeks with Gungun would make him so different as a person.
Gungun folded her wedding attire remembering the wedding. She smiled remembering how happy everyone was. She could never imagine them being sad. She wondered if the deal with Anubhav was actually a bad decision.
“Aa jao.”
Anubhav walked in and they stared at each other. They made their way to the bed and slept on their sides without much discussion. Both had finally had a realisation that they actually got married and the deal did sound a bit childish.
