Yug arrived at Manjhi Maa and Kali's apartment, pulling the spare key out from underneath the carpet. Now or never, now or never.
He entered. Even though he had intimated Manjhi Maa of his plan and she had assured him it was okay, isn't this still just a little creepy? he asked himself. Sneaking into their house?
He stopped.
No, it isn't. It's not creepy at all, not when you're doing something like this for her. He thought back to himself, before continuing on his journey - to Kali's kitchen.
He cooked up her favourite food, the way he knew she liked them. Once he finished, he plated the food for two people, and covered it with tin foil. Smiling proudly at his work, he sat on the couch, awaiting her arrival.
She should be here any second now.
He could hardly contain his excitement.
But as time passed, his excitement deflated and she wasn't there yet. Checking his watch, he frowned.
Somehow, he'd ended up lying down on the couch, drifting off.
Kali thought it was a little weird her door was unlocked, because she was pretty sure she locked it when she left for groceries. She was just going to check in, pick up what she needed and head off to Yug's apartment.
She was quite a bit later than she had planned, but he didn't need to know that.
Then she saw him sleeping on the couch, and she shook him awake, unsure of what else she could do.
As soon as Yug awoke, he instinctively pulled out the ring, remembering what he originally came here to do.
To his surprise, she pulled out a ring, too.
"Yes." She said, an ear-splitting grin plastered on her face.
He smiled back at her, before saying in response, "Yes."
