What was I thinking?

Presenting TV actors at their honest best. They talk about the one show that they really regretted doing
Back to Section Stories Posted On Saturday, November 17, 2007

Ranjib Mazumder / Kavita Shyam

Manish Goyal
Show: Hip Hip Hurray

It was supposed to be my full-fledged small screen debut after a blink-and-miss role in a show called Yeh Hai Raaz. My character Manjeet was into drugs because he had problems with his parents. On the fifth day of the show, I was informed that I was going to die in the seventh episode. I was shocked as I was not informed beforehand. As I was a struggler, I accepted whatever insignificant role I was given. I still haven't gotten over it.

Renuka Shahane
Show: Mrs Madhuri Dixit

The show failed miserably and I didn't enjoy doing it. The process didn't excite me. I was known as a serious actress and I thought it would be different to do a comedy. I was upset as I couldn't leave as I had committed myself to the show. But once the show went off-air, I was so happy that I celebrated.

Chetan Hansraj
Show: Kaajjal Sabbki Aankhon Mein Basi

Working on Kaajjal was not a good experience at all. My character Dhruv was the best friend of Dev Pratap Singh (Apoorva Agnihotri), who later became enemies due to Kaajjal (Surveen Chawla). The way the role turned out eventually was completely different from what I was told when I joined the show. My character was also quite unconvincing and immature. That's why I decided to quit the show.

Jaya Bhattacharya
Show: Kasamh Se

I regret doing Kasamh Se because it was a sudden decision I had to take. I was informed just one day prior to shooting for the show that I had to play Jigyasa, which was earlier played by Ashwini Kalsekar. I had never watched the show, so I did not have any clue about the character. Later, when Balaji Telefilms patched up with Ashwini they asked me to quit the show as suddenly as I had joined it. And they did not even inform me about my exit!

Nikhil Arya
Show: Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi

My character did not go the way it was initially planned. I was playing Asim Gupta, Gauri Pradhan's husband in the show. My role was completely different from what was narrated to me. If I knew what the story was, I would not have done the show at all.

Mouli Ganguly
Show: Resham Dankh

Iregret doing the show because it was a disaster. The story had a novelty factor, but it got lost in no time. After a certain point, I did not know what I was doing. There was no planning and the storyline was a complete mess. Vamps were suddenly turning positive. It turned out to be worse than a Bhojpuri movie. That's when I decided to take a break from small screen. I am still recovering from the shock.

Amar Upadhyay
Show: Suhana Safar

I played a young musician who wanted to form his own rock group. The show was not that popular and it didn't last long as it was not executed well. The show wasn't revolving around me as there were several parallel tracks.

Tanaaz Lal
Show: Fame Gurukul

It was a very badly conducted show and it went off-air much before it was supposed to. The production house had not taken the right people. The participants did not know what they were doing. The only good thing was that I met my husband Bakhtiyar on the sets of this show and made some good friends.

The Character of Dhruv, like the rest of the characters, was very improperly sketched...there was no backbone to the character. I don't blame him for kicking himself for this one...the show was beautiful...and then, somewhere, somehow, the story, the backbone was lost and turned weak...even Rati ji was wasted....and in the end, we all wanted Apu/Sur to opt out the show as well - for their own good. I hope the entire cast and crew of the old Kaajjal are now off to bigger and better...and I hope the current cast and crew are supported firmly by a good story with a strong backbone.

Dhruv's character was shown to b confusing and dumb right from the beginning ..He was introduced as a Business Tycoon but later all he did was running behind his friend Dev to learn some techniques of how to woo or pataofy a girl ..He never even had ther guts to propose to a girl he loved and he claimed that Dev is his best friend but he never ever tried to find out about her hospitalwali and give him some much needed happiness in life ..Instead he was more interested in his own love life 😡 and was a shown as a selfish guy asking Dev for help at the drop of a hat 😡

Dhryv was a nonsensical character.Btw I don agree with chetan Dhruv became bad because of kaajjal....When he came to know the truth shouldnt he have turned nice for his friend dev who did sooo much!! 😳

Anyways That's the makers fault...making dhruv very dumb!! 😆
