Rati wants to 'Jhalak' again
Rati on 'Kajjal', healing with Reiki and staying positive
'Kajjal'
"My experience of working in 'Kajjal' (Sony) as Apoorva Agnihotri's mother has been a good one. TV is different from films and no comparisons can be made between the two," says Rati. She adds, "It's a comfortable setting. The team has helped me with the nuances of acting on television. But yes, they do give me a little extra respect considering that I am senior to them."
'Jhalak Dikhla Jaa'
Rati recalls the fun she had doing the dance talent show saying, "I had a blast during 'Jhalak…'. We contestants spent a lot of time together. We would eat together at the cafeteria. The rehearsals made me feel like a student."
She continues, "Some of us do meet up. But everybody is busy with their work. However, we keep in touch through SMS." Rati adds with a smile, "If offered, I am ready to do another 'Jhalak'."
Dream roles
"I would love to play roles like those in 'Mother India', 'Pyaasa', and 'Guide'. I idolise Waheeda Rehman," says the actor. Rati rues the fact that the actors her age are only offered mother's roles. "Abroad, actors get to play lead roles till the age of 65. I think it will take India a few more years to get there," she asserts.
Films
Rati's current film projects include Chandrakant Singh's 'Kuch Love Kuch Drama', a story revolving around three couples. "Anupam Kher and I play the third older couple. The two younger couples approach us for advice," reveals Rati.
Also in the pipeline is Percept Picture Company's 'Rubaru', Manish Goel's 'Hum Phir Mile Ya Na Mile' and the English film 'Karma Confessions and Holi'. Here Rati plays Sushmita Sen's older sister.
Reiki
Interestingly, Rati is a Reiki Master and practises it for an hour everyday. She says, "I can heal most people when they approach me. But sometimes the situation may be grave. But, I can pick up 'sick' areas in a person, whether it's the back, stomach or just stress." When an ambulance passes by, Rati tries healing through a distance.
Family
Rati is great at multi-tasking. "I have a lot of responsibilities —- home, dogs, business, social life and my stores in Pune. Also, my son is apperaing for his board exams this year," says the actor. When complimented on her glowing skin, she claims, "It depends on positive thinking and a clean simple lifestyle."
