Jyoti is doing a puja w/ Dadi, getting the usual flashbacks, but now of Kabir. Dadi asks her what she's thinking, and she apologizes and gets to the puja. However, she's still distracted, and Dadi asks her what's wrong - since Sushi's wedding, she seems to have been totally lost. Jyoti tries to make up an excuse of Kabir leaving w/o notice, but Dadi doesn't buy it. Jyoti remarks that it's very easy to take decisions in life, but it isn't necessary that every decision is binding on HIM. She wonders that if that's the case, why does every corner seem to have a fork in the road? Dadi explains to her that while it's up to individuals to do their duties, the results of those ain't in anyone's control. She also thinks that she and Kabir must have had some pretty serious conversation for her to be in this state.
Jyoti's phone rings & it's Sushi - this time, in a sari (if she's wearing one now, why didn't she wear it all these months that she was married?) Sushma tells her that this morning, Brij prepared her tea, and he's taking his meds, and also left for work. Jyoti asks what work, and she tells her that Kabir gave him a job @ his office, where his physical exertion would be less. Sushma tells Jyoti that they owe this new life of theirs to Jyoti & Kabir. She tells Jyoti that she prays that Jyoti too gets a new beginning. Jyoti gets the flashback of Kabir proposing, and Sushma, hearing the pause, asks her whether she's thought of anything in this area? Jyoti tells her that she's in the middle of a puja, and asks if she can call later? Sushma tells her that she knows Jyoti doesn't wish to discuss this, but asks her to consider it.
Dadi then continues her prayer, and tells the goddess that this prayer is for Kabir, and asks her to fulfill all his desires. Jyoti looks stunned @ this request (given that she now knows what Kabir wants) Dadi asks for Kabir to be protected, wherever he goes or is. However, as she says this, the diya went off😲, and both Dadi & Jyoti looked worried.
At home, Kabir is having one of his usual conversations w/ Krishna-ji, and telling him that he's prepared to take any path, and doesn't fear any decision. He too starts getting flashbacks of Jyoti. He also remembers what Amit told him about the baby - that it will remind him of Pankaj.
Next morning, Deepu is reading the papers, and noting an uptake in crime in Udaipur. He wonders what's going on, since Udaipur is a very safe city. Dadi asks him to take some prasad, and Deepu tells her that she'll tell him that whatever happens is the will of the almighty. Dadi agrees, and tells him that only HE knows what's going on. Dadi is about to give the prasad to Deepu, but his paper hits the thali, knocking it over. Dadi is upset @ such an apshakun. Deepu gathers & retrieves it, and Jyoti's phone rings from Kabir, and due to this incident, she too is slightly panicky.
Kabir tells her that they need to talk. Jyoti asks about what, and Kabir tells her that she knows, and that their previous conversation was incomplete. He asks her to be ready, and he'll pick her up in half an hour.
Jyoti is ready to leave the house and Dadi asks him why, when the doc advised rest? If she needed to talk to Kabir, she could have called him home. Jyoti tells her that she has other work as well, which is why it's neccesary to go. Dadi is worried @ all the ill omens, but Jyoti reassures her, and leaves.
In Pankaj's home, Neelam is in his room, worried. Pankaj comes and sits next to her, and tells her that he understands that they have their differences, but they do live together. Therefore, it's his duty to take care of her. He invites her to share her problems w/ him. He might have a solution. Neelam tearfully tells him that for the last few days, her father has been suffering a lot of business losses, and that her mom told her that he needs Rs 10 lakhs ASAP. Pankaj tells her that a marriage is there for spouses to support each other in good times & bad (sorta like how you supported Jyoti when she needed you the most, when she told you about Brij & Sushma?) and that he'd go and get the money. Neelam declines, telling him that if her mom knew that it came from her sasural, she'd never take it. Pankaj tells her not to tell them, and Neelam instantly agrees that it's a great idea 😆😆 She asks him when this can be done, and Pankaj tells her that he's headed for the bank, and this will happen today itself. He leaves, and Neelam calls her mom and tells her that Pankaj has gone to get the money for their purpose.
Kabir arrives w/ Jyoti @ the temple where they had spent that night after their group had been to the movies. She asks him why he brought her here, and he tells her that since this was where their friendship started, it's where a new turn in their life will start as well. They enter the temple, and Jyoti worships the linga. Kabir then tells her that the other day, he had told her everything on his mind, and that today, it's her turn. Jyoti sighs and tells him that she thought that he already knew, but tells him that she's not alone - a part of somebody else is w/ her as well. She can't even think of another relationship. (That's why you should have had that abortion)
Kabir opens his bag, takes out a wrapped gift and gives it to her. Jyoti takes it & opens it - it's a picture of Yashoda & baby Krishna. He tells her that this is usually the consequence of love - she's about to become a mom, and he asks her whether she thinks he'll love her any less? He tells her that when ones mind is set on one, one tends to accept every change that that person undergoes, whether it's a reigning Krishna, or a poison drinking Shankar. He tells her that he wants to accept her along w/ her baby. He tells her that who she loved or wanted in the past doesn't make a difference to him - he wants her from today onwards.
Jyoti refuses. She tells him that she came there as his friend, but that even if she were to fall in love w/ him, then still she couldn't agree to such a relationship. She asks him not to waste time waiting for her decision. She tells him that love is something that changes w/ time, and that a decision he takes when he's in love is one he would go on to regret when he no longer is in love. She says that somebody once loved her a lot, but the situation totally wiped out that perception of love. She tells him that since he's in love, there are a lot of things he cannot see. She tells him that it's very difficult for a person to accept the fact that he's the 2nd choice for any woman (actually no, most men are not like your loser ex-hubby Pankaj - they accept women w/ a past, though not necessarily women who are already mothers, but they do expect that the women have only one loyalty - them) She tells him that when her kid is grown and comes b/w them, he'll think that her past is simply following her. She tells Kabir not to misunderstand her, but this is not something she's read, but something she's lived.
Kabir tells her that it's not necessary that every person has the same expectations of love. He asks her whether her mind tells her that he is not genuine? Or whether he'll break any commitments to her? Jyoti tells him that she no longer wants to be a friend, and that it would be better if they stayed within these limits. Or else, she'll have to change her chosen path, and they'd have to separate.
Kabir smiles, and tells her that he has already moved ahead, and that he's heard that when love progresses, it becomes a storm that's very difficult to reverse. And he's already moved ahead, and it's very difficult to return. He tells her that he wants her, and is committing to spending his life w/ her. He'll want her w/ his last breath (a somewhat ominous remark, given what's to happen later) Nobody can change his desires, not even Jyoti 😉😆 Jyoti tells him that he does have to return, and tells him that they need to return home.
Pankaj comes out of the bank, w/ a suitcase filled presumably w/ that cash. He then calls for the car. Some assailants are in contact w/ each other, and one tries to grab his suitcase, and others surround him and a struggle breaks out. Pankaj knocks over one of the assailants, who then retreats, pulls out a gun and positions himself to aim @ Pankaj when the others have left him clear. At that point, Jyoti & Kabir arrive on the scene, and Jyoti notes that it's Pankaj. Both of them rush to his rescue, and Kabir stands in front of him as the armed assailant shoots him. Kabir takes a bullet and falls, and Pankaj is wondering what's on. Just then, Jyoti arrives at the spot and sees Kabir, and screams 'Kabir-ji', and the episode ends w/ a shocked look on her face.
No precaps.
Sushma's transformation seemed somewhat contrived today. It's not like she went from unmarried to married - she went from married to married, and suddenly, a wholesale change to sari, etc? Also, she gets married and magically Brij gets a decent job, even if courtesy Kabir? I just don't get the CVs - a couple months back, they were touting her back to school program and the Jyoti foundation for women to resume their education, and all of a sudden, she's married, and her exams are forgotten? Just makes no sense - this is almost as bad as the first time she eloped w/ Brij.
Even though I root for Jyoti to end up w/ Kabir, I sorta agreed w/ her in her arguments that her child would come in the way of them staying committed to each other. It's not a sound argument - countless people have put that aside when deciding to go ahead in a relationship, plus this need not be the only baby Jyoti ever has - she can have, say, 2 more kids from Kabir if they marry. But since Jyoti insists on keeping this kid, it's just as well that she warn Kabir of the pitfalls, much like Amit did.
I've been enjoying Neelam's treatment of Pankaj so far, but I wasn't too thrilled today about her asking Pankaj for money for her dad's business. This is where she gets to hurt the entire family, not just Pankaj. Somehow, this time, too me, it seemed to go too far. I have no problems w/ Pankaj and Bhairavi getting hurt, but somehow, I'm still sympathetic to MN&G, as well as Suday. Also, strange thing - when her parents were trying to buy Jyoti's divorce, they offered her a crore, but now, just for 10 lakhs, they have to ask her for Pankaj's handout? I know fortunes change, but this?
This time, Pankaj isn't injured, but any bets on whether CM will read Neelam the riot act for getting Pankaj to withdraw money for her maayka? You can bet that had it been Jyoti, she'd have been all over him, like she was on the Sushma incident.
Given the conversation that happened @ the temple, where Jyoti was prepared to end their relationship, it's tough to think of a different scenario than the above one where Kabir gets shot that might force Jyoti to think again. At any rate, I think that after seeing Kabir near death, Jyoti is going to do a whole lot of soul searching - even if Pankaj wonders who it is, I doubt Jyoti can give him time of day while getting Kabir to the ER. If Jyoti tends to Kabir & helps him recover, it will be harder for her to refuse him going forward.
Episode rating: 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Pluses: Kabir being shot potentially setting the stage for Jyoti to have to tend to him and help him recover, and in the process, realize how much she loves him
Minuses: Jyoti turning down Kabir's request, and trying to roll back their relationship, Sushma's new unreal situation
