Jyoti says that before they go ahead w/ this case, she wants to talk to Pankaj. The lawyer says that it's a bad idea, and could weaken the case. He tells her that there is no need to grovel before Pankaj - he'll make Pankaj grovel before her. He also suggests that they send a notice w/ whatever she wants to tell him. She tells him that there are some things that cannot be said on paper. The lawyer warns her that this could have serious consequences, and Jyoti tells him that he's putting undue pressure on her. The lawyer tells her to do what she feels right.
Padma asks her why Jyoti called the lawyer if she didn't want to pursue this case. Jyoti says that she didn't call him, and KK alone claims responsibility for this. He pays advocate Mishra the fees, and tells him that he'll notify him if further help is needed. The lawyer thanks him and leaves.
At the Vashisth house, CM returns, and Minal comes to greet her. CM is non-responsive, and Minal asks her what's the deal. CM tells her that she still has to stay there a few more days, and Minal is upset, claiming that her future is now tied to Jyoti accepting a loot.
In his room, Pankaj is fidgeting, impatient that there's no response so far, neither from Jyoti nor the attorney. So he calls his attorney and asks him whether he had handed over the papers, and Mr Verma tells him that he had sent it the previous evening. Pankaj asks him whether he didn't hand deliver it, and is told that it was hand delivered by his assistant. Pankaj asks him the precise time. Mr Verma tells him that it was around this time. Pankaj says that he hasn't gotten a response so far. Pankaj asks him that in his experience, how long do such cases take? He is told it could take a while, and they had given her the notice yesterday along with a deadline, and before that deadline, they can't even ask her any questions.
Pankaj cuts the line, but then calls him again and asks who the papers were delivered to? The lawyer says Mrs Sharma, and Pankaj is shocked - they were to be delivered to Jyoti personally. The lawyer says it was given to Mrs Jyoti Sharma, and Pankaj is angry, telling him that she's still Mrs Vashisth for the time being. The lawyer is about to put down the phone, but Pankaj yells that he's not done, and asks why's he in such a hurry to let go? Mr Verma obliges, and Pankaj asks him how long such cases take? Mr Verma tells him 7 years at the maximum, and Pankaj is shocked. Mr Verma tells him that that's only the max, but if Jyoti were to return him the signed papers tomorrow, it would take no time. If she challenged it in court, it could take time, and the truth was that other than Mrs Jyoti, nobody could answer this question of his. Pankaj disconnects the phone, and Mr Verma is stunned. Pankaj wonders - after all this is done, what is Jyoti still waiting for?
At the Sharmas, Padma asks KK, who's working on his typewriter, what is he still waiting for? If she has to go and meet Pankaj, let her go and get insulted again. She points out that he was unwilling to talk even to them, so why would he talk to Jyoti? She wonders what exactly goes on in Jyoti's mind? She asks KK if Jyoti told him anything, and he denies it. She asks him to ask Jyoti what she plans to discuss w/ Pankaj, and KK tells her that this is a spousal matter, so how can he butt in? Padma sarcastically asks - Pati-patni, and KK explodes. He tells her that they are not yet divorced, so they are still husband and wife. He asks Padma why she is so tense? Give them whatever time they need, and also, this is just Jyoti's decision - KK or Padma are not to object. He has full confidence in whatever decision she takes.
Padma says that she's worried that Jyoti would say something to Pankaj that will spur him to reject offering even the alimony. KK says that he now knows what's burning her. He tells her that she's less bothered about Jyoti, and more bothered about the loot from her divorce. He was a fool for not recognizing her, and she one for not recognizing her kids. Padma remarks that it's useless to talk to him, and goes away from there.
Jyoti is in her room, going through the divorce paper. Finally, Jyoti sits down, and is about to sign on the divorce. (Strange thing - the divorce notice was in Hindi, but Pankaj's signature was in English) She stops herself, as she perhaps realizes the enormity of what she's doing. Just then the phone rings, and Jyoti, after wondering for a few seconds whether to take the call or not, picks it up. It's Pankaj.
Pankaj asks her why she takes so long to answer the phone? After a bit of livelock, she asks him how he is? He says he's fine, but he didn't call to exchange pleasantries. Pankaj asks her whether she received what he sent her through his lawyer? She confirms it, and he asks her to sign them and send them back. She is silent, and Pankaj repeats his order - sign and return them. He tells her that if she's too busy, he'll send his lawyer to collect it - in fact, he wants it back quickly. Jyoti says that she may need more time, but Pankaj interrupts her and tells her that he does not have time. After hesitating a bit, he tells her that he's getting engaged, and Jyoti is shocked, and sinks into her chair. Pankaj calls out, just to make sure she hasn't disconnected, and asks her whether she's okay, and she asks why bother? He tells her that they have to move forward, and she congratulates him, and tells him that she's happy for him. Pankaj thanks her.
He asks her when she's going to sign? She tells him that she wants to tell him something, and he tells her that there is no point in talking any more - he's already moved on. Jyoti assures him that he misunderstands, and that she isn't going to go back and grovel. He asks her what she wants, and she says that there is a condition.
Jyoti continues that if Pankaj agrees to her condition, only then will she sign the divorce papers, but not otherwise. Pankaj taunts her that he knew she'd do something like that, and asks her how much more alimony she wants? She asks him why he's asking a question to which he knows the answer? Pankaj asks her what she wants? She tells him that she wants to meet him in person. Pankaj agrees, and tells her she can meet him at his place anytime. The conversation ends, after some hesitation at both ends.
Next day, @ the Vashisth home, 6 of them - MN&G, CM&Minal, Uday & Sudha, are sitting in the living room. Gayatri tells Bhairavi that there was a call from Neelam's father, and they wanted to talk to her. Bhairavi agrees to talk, and Neelam asks about what? She doesn't think Jyoti will let go of Pankaj so easily. CM says that she's all prepared for that.
The bell rings, and CM asks Mishra to see who it is. He opens the door and is shocked. It is Jyoti. She looks at them somewhat angrily, and the rest are shocked to see her. The episode ends.
KK could have saved himself the trouble had he consulted Jyoti before calling in a lawyer - he had to pay fees for just that meeting. Totally worthless, if Jyoti is planning to sign it.
I liked Pankaj's display of petulance, first against Mr Verma, and then against Jyoti. In Jyoti's case, it was irritating to see her hesitate on every step, be it taking the call itself, to her answering the questions. Yeah, the acting was good, but I thought it was somewhat overdone.
Any guesses to what Jyoti wants to tell Pankaj in person what she couldn't over the phone? And what's she going to do to clear her name, so that it doesn't dog her and her family?
