The scene starts w/ Brij taking up the stage and singing. Jyoti & Sudha look @ him and each other, unsure of what to do next, while on the stage, Brij, while singing, smirks @ Jyoti, knowing that her hands are tied, and she can't do squat. 🤢🤢🤢 While watching him and listening to him sing, Jyoti gets flashbacks of Brij beating up Sushma in public, and how that image contrasted w/ the facade he was putting on here. Brij kept smirking @ her while singing, while Jyoti got other flashbacks, like when he tried to hit on her and she slapped him. Finally, listening to his lyrics, where he almost taunts the subject that she'd be thinking of him and living in his shadows (sorry I couldn't translate the full song, if someone does it that would be good, since one could then contrast Brij's lyrics w/ his past), Jyoti is unable to contain her disgust and walks out, and Sudha follows her to comfort her. Jyoti resents how helpless she is that the person who ruined Sushma's life is right in front of her, and she can't do anything about him. Sudha tries to reassure her that Brij's evil deeds would one day catch up w/ him, but now was not the time to do any of that, since they were somebody's guests. Jyoti conceded that that's why she was silent, but she couldn't stay in that room a minute, since it seemed to her that that demon was mocking her helplessness.
In KK's house, Deepu enters Sushma's dark room, where she is standing alone, and turns on the light, and asks her why she is standing alone in the dark. Sushma asks what else could she do? In the dark, she doesn't have to see her sinful self. Deepu tries to assure her that she hasn't committed any sin. Sushma however is disconsolate that she can do nothing about the fact that she's carrying Brij's offspring.
Back @ the party, Sudha is trying to comfort Jyoti, when CM arrives there. She asks them that if they were just going to stand in a corner and chat amongst themselves, why did they accompany her to the party - they may as well have stayed home (yeah, right, Jyoti & Sudha were the ones who wanted to come to the party, it wasn't Bhairavi who wanted to take them out to humiliate Sudha) She hopes that the 2 sisters are not plotting against her. (if only they were) Sudha tries to clarify things, but CM tells her that Jyoti has an answer to everything, and wonders whether Sudha too has learnt it from her? CM decides that it's worthless talking to them, and any discussion would have to be w/ Pankaj & Uday. Jyoti tells her that they came there b'cos she has a headache, and CM remarks that that was inevitable, given that they've never been among such glitterati, and that they should be grateful that being Vashists, they are being brought to such glamorous events (in which case, what are MN&G, Pankaj, Uday, Pratik & Minal doing home?) otherwise people like them wouldn't even be allowed near the gates. Finally, she asks them to tidy up and come w/ her, to meet some important people.
They meet the finace & fiancee, who greet CM, and Jyoti & Sudha greet their parents. (Here, CM introduces both of them, including Sudha, as her bahu, which at home she doesn't acknowledge. What an actress!!!) CM tells her hostess that they are 2 sisters, and have almost identical qualities. The hostess remarks that they are lucky to have found such a home, and that the Vashsists didn't have to inquire about another family after they had found the first. (If only she knew how hellbent CM was in preventing #2 from joining the family) If they have a third sister, then she suggested hitching her to Pratik, and Jyoti looks at her disapprovingly. She asks them whether they have a 3rd sister, and CM intervenes, saying Thank God there ain't a 3rd sister (Jyoti & Sudha look at her, hurt). The hostess looks at her perplexed, and CM quickly clarifies that all the mystique and interest is lost if everything happens only w/ one family. In the meantime, Jyoti & Sudha are quite stunned @ being caught in a situation where they can't tell the truth, at least not at this time. (Obviously, Jyoti's cover-ups are catching up w/ her) CM continues that even if there were a 3rd sister, she'd have protected Pratik (why bother, when last time one looked, he was an item w/ Sajni, and does CM think she has anywhere near the same clout w/ him that she had w/ Pankaj & Uday?) Jyoti and Sudha look @ her again, hurt. CM continues that they aren't going to go there again for a bride.
Now, this conversation was overheard by Brij, who is puzzled by CM's remark that there isn't a 3rd sister. He figures that the Vashists know nothing about Sushma, in which case, they know nothing about him, in which case, they know nothing about his past relationship w/ Jyoti. He figures that this is a new twist to the tale, and that he'd have to plan something for Jyoti.
Back at the Vashist mansion, Jyoti is in bed w/ Pankaj, unable to sleep due to the day's events. She recalls the crappy advice she got from Kalpana 😡😡😡 to not tell Pankaj about Brij, and how she protested that if she didn't tell him, that would be deceptive on her part, and she would be the one responsible. She recalls Kalpana's argument that if he knew it, he'd think that he was her 2nd choice, and that it was better that he never got to know about it. While recalling Kalpana's advice, Jyoti now regrets having followed it. Had she been honest w/ Pankaj, she wouldn't have had to fake her relationships, and hide the fact that Sushma was her sister, and that it was very difficult to live w/ this burden.
She got up and went to the balcony. Sudha joined her there, and asked her why she was still awake. Jyoti told her that w/ the burden she was carrying, it was impossible to sleep. She didn't feel good, and had she discussed all this w/ Pankaj b4 marriage, then she wouldn't be guilty of betraying him. She notes that she's not only guilty b4 Pankaj, but b4 Sushma as well. Sudha disagrees, and points out that at that time, the situation was very different, and that she had come together w/ Pankaj after breaking all her relationships w/ her family. She asked Jyoti that even if she had confessed, what would she have told him, and about whom? Jyoti remarks that she can still tell him now, cant she? Today, she had to let Brij go just b'cos of this inconvenience, and has become selfish. Sudha disagrees that her didi can never be selfish, given everything she had done for her sisters & brother. If Jyoti wanted, she could tell everyone everything, but right now, the situation was very delicate. If she did tell everyone about Brij, who knows what they would conclude and how they would react. Jyoti agrees w/ her that she'd have to wait for the right opportunity, and once that comes, she'd tell everyone everything, and make sure Brij is brought to justice.
Elsewhere, in a liquor room (I wouldn't call it a bar), Brij is having drinks as usual w/ his friend who got him this gig. Brij complains about the amount he's being served, and told that that's due to the concessional rate he received, which was also why he got the opportunity to be in that room. Brij remarks that he knows how to snatch his opportunities. Now the time has come to change his times, and w/ the right move, he could be a millionaire. His friend thinks he's drunk, but Brij knows that he has the right opportunity. With a little more info, he'd have all he needs, and those who troubled him for money would have their debts paid in full. Brij tells his friend that it's his last drink w/ him, and that he's returning to his Udaipur. He tells Jyoti Vashisth to prepare to welcome him. 'Her' Brij is coming.
At the Vashisth mansion, CM is as usual bitching to Minal about how she had taken these 2 to the party, but how they were instead chatting amongst themselves in a corner. She is pretty resentful about how Jyoti now has that sister w/ her, and how these 2 are so loving of each other that one gets hurt at the other's pain. She doesn't know what they will do as long as they are together. Minal suggests a way to separate the sisters.
BS mode for CM. The Vashists are having breakfast, and CM is describing to them how everybody was all in praise of Sudha. She said that Mrs Malik, who rarely praises easily, said that she had rarely seen such a combination of beauty and high upbringing: Sudha blushes to hear this, Uday and Jyoti smile @ her. Uday is happy to hear this, and CM remarks that for the first time, she realized that money & a high society isn't everything (yeah, right!!!) Pankaj smiles @ hearing this. CM continues that a beautiful and cultured bahu also enhances the family prestige. Uday blushes, and Sudha smiles (on one hand, I am happy for them, but on the other, I can't believe they are gulping all this BS) CM apologizes (I would have put this in bold size 7 font had I thought this was genuine) if anything she said hurt her (actually, this is not an apology: an apology is an unqualified 'I am sorry', not a qualified 'I am sorry IF...') Jyoti lights up and smiles on hearing this, while Uday & Sudha both were shocked and seemed puzzled to hear this. CM continues that she's been late to realize it, but her son has the blood of a business family. So he did not make any wrong moves by marrying Sudha - Jyoti laughed to hear this, and Sudha too smiled, thinking this was genuine. Uday thanked her for accepting Sudha as her bahu. Gayatri told Bhairavi that she was very happy that CM's changed her opinion of Sudha. CM responds that how long can the glittering of diamonds be hidden (Dishu, you need to pay me for watching and transcribing such bullshit - it's worse than watching Jyoti being tortured by CM, or Sushma being tortured by Brij 🤢😆) She then tells Sudha, who along w/ Jyoti, has been standing so long, to not be shy, and simply take the seat next to her. They'd give Jyoti, Longshree & others company later. (Nice work, bunching Jyoti w/ Longshree 👎🏼). Sudha goes and sits next to CM. CM tells her to always be glamorously decked, since she's newly married and has to be always beautiful. She doesn't need to do all the work in the kitchen, since Jyoti is there, and all the servants are there in the house as well. Sudha is now embarrassed to hear this. CM asks her to simply supervise everything. Minal looks up, somewhat triumphantly, since a setup was contrived where Jyoti would be belittled in front of Sudha, and hopefully would be resentful of Sudha. But Jyoti is smiling @ Sudha all the time, while Sudha is the one who is embarrassed. CM continues that she should spend the bulk of her time w/ Uday (on this one, she happens to be right) and enjoy her new marriage. (That scene ends on this 'happy' note, if one can digest it. Only good thing is that if Sudha believes it, she wont go into Devika mode so much)
Elsewhere, in the street, Brij is moving veiled in his old mohulla. He inquires about Sushma, but is told that his house has been repossessed. He then goes to a payphone and calls Sushma's cellphone. Sushma answers it, but Brij just listens to her voice, and doesn't say anything. He remarks to himself that she's alive, and seems fine, but where is she? He now needs her to teach her sister a lesson.
A very far reaching episode, given that today, Brij discovers that Jyoti's in-laws know nothing about him or Sushma. CM's behavior @ the party was disgusting, particularly while referencing Jyoti/Sudha's 3rd sister, and how she'd shield Pratik. It was nice to see Jyoti reflect on her past decisions, but it was sad to see Sudha rationalize Jyoti's decisions, although in her defense, she didn't advocate Jyoti lying, but rather, just looking for the right opportunity. The other problem w/ this is that Sudhi too is now becoming guilty of hiding this from Uday. Assuming that they buy CM's BS @ the breakfast table, that opportunity seems to be NOW.
Also, Part 3 can be looked @ as 'sweet' if the apparent acceptance of Sudha by CM was anything to go by, but sorry, that segment was BS and too much to take. Jyoti did not get humiliated, but rather, Sudha was embarrassed at taking a role that rightfully belonged to her didi. Only silver lining is that having apologized in front of everyone to Sudha, it's now next to impossible for CM to misbehave w/ Sudha on past pretexts: any pretext that she misbehaves on would have to be new. One thing she might do - send Suday away on a honeymoon, and then turn her guns on Jyoti. And if she connect w/ Brij, heaven help Jyoti.
Oh, and this time, I think Sushma will be of no help to Brij, even if he threatens her w/ Thakkar - since she's confided in Jyoti, she'd feel confident enough to tell him to do his worst.
