I don't think that's ever been mentioned.

One more question - we know that Pankaj's mom is Gayatri and Uday's is Bhairavi. Also, Uday's late father's name is Kailash. Anyone know the name of Pankaj's dad? [Update: Mahendranath]

One more thing - in a past thread about Samir Sharma, the full form of Brij was put down as Brijesh. Yet, in the August 28 episode, when he's forging that medical report to substitute his own name over that of the actual patient who just died, he types it as Mr Brijmohan. No surname.

Another question about Brij - doesn't he have a family too? When Padma was bitching about the contrast b/w Jyoti's and Sushma's pujas, one thing she brought out was that Jyoti had many people to attend that, whereas Sushma had nobody. But both of them are from the same family, and the difference here is not b/w Jyoti & Sushma, but b/w Pankaj & Brij. Reason for that disparity is that not only does Pankaj live in a joint family, but that his father has so many associates, whereas Brij seems to have no ties w/ his family, assuming even that he has one, and all he has are those worthless friends of his, like the fake doc. Isn't that aspect of his life of the remotest interest to Padma, Sushma et al?

Does anybody know who drives Jyoti's scooter these days? She never took it to the Vashisth mansion, and it was once shown on the porch of their house. We know that Sudha can't drive, so is Deepu the de facto owner of this? Or has it just been lying there unused?

High time somebody does a complete servicing on the bike (maybe borrowing cash from Jyoti) and then start using it. Maybe Sudha should learn riding (like she's been w/ Uday) and then get a license and start riding it. Except that she too won't take it to the Vashisth mansion when she marries.

i had left the show when sushma had gone back to brij..can ne1 b kind enugh to tell me what has happened since then in short?its not ther in the synopsis and reading the updates will take a lot of time..i know its a lot to ask so thanx a lot in advance..

Oh, in the time since then, a lot of things happened.

Sushma: Once she came back, she quit her job w/ Thakkar, and Brij abused her for that, and accused her of sleeping w/ him, which she confessed to doing to get him cured. Brij then started using that as a pretext to blackmail her. However, soon, Sushma got pregnant, and Brij threatened to throw her out unless she had (another) abortion. The doctors advised her against it, so she begged Brij to allow it to live in return for her working as well. Brij saw that he could make her a money machine again, so he agreed. Sushma tried to get hired at several places, but people either found her work inadequate, or tried to leech on her. Finally, she found work @ Jyoti's place, and was offered a job by CM, but Jyoti had Longshree fire her after just the Diwali night, when she cooked the pakoras & snacks. In fact, Sushma herself walked out, since she didn't want to be seen by her family as working for Jyoti.

Two days later, on bhai-duj, when Sandeep visited her, he saw Brij abusing her and since he couldn't get her off himself, went to Jyoti. By then, Sushma too started revolting against Brij due to his slandering the parentage of her fetus. Jyoti caught him beating her on the streets in front of everybody, and slapped him. They all chased him to the roof of a construction site, where Sushma was thrown down the stairs by a fleeing Brij and admitted to hospital. Somehow, both she & her fetus survived, and she reconciled w/ Jyoti & the rest of the family and is now back home. Here too, she pretends to be the servant whenever anyone from the Vashisth family is there, since they don't know about Sushma.

Suday: Sudha passed her BA exams, and was celebrating. CM was demanding that Jyoti stop taking wages from Sishumangal, since it was reflecting badly on the family reputation (something Pankaj reversed and CM went into self exile to Mumbai). Jyoti had gone home to the family worried, and Sudha and Deepu figured that it was related to the money she was spilling in. So they decided that Sudha should look for a job. She went for an interview to a travel related agency, and like the previous time she did an interview, she got really tensed during the interview, but this time unlike the last, she became Devika. Needless to say, Devika aced the interview and since it had come in Sudha Sharma's name, she got the job and informed everyone, including Jyoti, and Uday overheard and congratulated her.

Since Uday was having misgivings about Devika due to her aloof nature, and Sudha's rapidfire successes - first her exams and now her job - excited him, he decided to break up w/ Devika and start dating Sudha. Devika, in a celebratory mood after she had aced that interview, went to the club on the night of Sudha's interview success. Uday insisted that he take her straight home, since they had to talk. In the car, Uday gently breaks up w/ her, pissing her off. Devika, after being dropped @ the hostel, returns to the night club to pick up a new guy, but there, some drunks try to get her to dance w/ them. She pushes one of them away, his head hits the table and he's in a coma.

The next day, cops appear @ the Sharmas and arrest Sudha for Devika's act the night before. Jyoti and Uday try to track Devika, but are unable to, and a search of the Sharma household reveals Devika's stuff, including the bracelet that Uday gave her. Everybody including Uday disown Sudha and she's hauled back to jail. Kalpana, who watches Sudha's arrest on the news, tells the Vashisths that Sudha is suffering from Dissociative Identity Disorder, and they all get Sudha examined. During the examination, Sudha's entire past comes out, including the ways Dadi ill treated her, her strip search in her school. She's certified as suffering from DID and released from jail on the grounds that Sudha had no idea of what Devika was doing. The Sharmas all apologize to her and so does Uday. He and Sudha resume dating.

Fast forward to the current track, and Uday proposes marriage to Sudha. However, CM wants Uday to marry a girl from Kota selected by Minal's FIL, and opposes Uday's marriage to Sudha, abusing her heavily in the process. The Sharmas too balk @ Uday's request, since they don't want Sudha to be in the same abusive situation as Jyoti. Uday agrees to marry the Kota girl, since he sees that this is a deadlock w/ even Sudha refusing to elope w/ him. However, CM decides to rub it in by breaking the news to Sudha personally, and a distraught Sudha becomes Devika again and visits Uday the night before he's to be engaged, but he's returns home too late & too drunk. Devika is drugged by Sushma who visits w/ her medicine, and at night, she wakes up as Sudha again and meets a drunk Uday. The next day, Sushma calls Uday and tells him what he's done to Sudha. At his place, the engagement party is on, and the bride's party want to see him and he's nowhere around, and everyone in the family is looking for him, but he's disconnecting everyone's call.

Uday calls Sudha on Sushma's phone & tells her to come to the temple. On Sushma's encouragement, Sudha goes, and Uday asks her to marry him. She refuses, but he wears down her arguments and gets her to the temple itself. She still refuses to marry him w/o the permission of elders, and just then, Jyoti's call comes and Uday tells her to be there quickly. The priest tells them that the auspicious moments would pass and they'd have to wait for 2 weeks, so Sudha reluctantly starts the process of garlanding. Jyoti experiences a lot of delays on the way, and by the time she's there, the wedding is complete, and Uday is applying sindur on Sudha.

They return home, the Kota people storm out in fury, the Sharmas leave in disgust, and everybody in the family is pissed not only @ Uday, but @ Jyoti as well. The next day, CM asks Sudha the price for leaving Uday, and a furious Uday takes Sudha and walks out of the house and goes to the Sharmas, where they are welcomed. That's where the story currently is.

Some other events: a robbery in the Vashisth household involving Longshree's adapted son, and CM returning after the break and even more furious @ Jyoti. Also, Sudha is stalked by the guy who Devika injured accidentally, but he's ultimately arrested.
