as u hv said she was the proper princess , belonged to safavid dynasty of iran . she is described as beautiful, vivacious, charming, and fair coloured . she was a proud and self-willed woman and her husband stood in some awe of her . She was reputed to have been irascible, and was, says Aurangzeb, a woman of "extreme imperiousness, but to the end of her life I continued to love her and never once did I wound her feelings."

Dilras' arrogant nature did not create problems in her marriage, as Aurangzeb always acted humbly with his haughty and imperious wife and had great respect and admiration for her. From all accounts it appears that Dilras was not dissimilar in character to her husband either. Both of them were strong-willed, pious and comparatively indifferent to the normal scheme of material values.

Aurangzeb was every inch a fanatical Sunni, Dilras Begum was out and out a satirical Shia. Aurangzeb despised Shias and yet, he allowed Dilras to raise their eldest son, Azam Shah, in this faith.

coming to udaipuri mahal , i think it was her loyalty & service which softened aurangzeb . thus in his later years , she got some attention & influence of emperor .

@ Manu😳 - yes mausoleums were built for Empresses - but Aurangazeb didn't believe in flaunting wealth/love... he made an exception for his first wife... other two wives were also princesses, but they got nothing... I did read about Roshnara slapping one of his other two wives and dragging her out, when she tried to intercede for her son (is that the one you're referring to?)

Actually, I was fascinated with this love story for a brief while - till Selvi corrected me about him having three wives not one...

So, I went back read up about his wives... and why I've always seen only his first wife mentioned... and found his story with his first wive even more fascinating! 🤔

But the underlined is true - he is so complex... and hence (I've tried) to portray the Shehzaade in the story as one very difficult to predict/understand too...
