Lashy - This teaser scene was imminent based on the last chapter. You had given us enough fodder to know it was coming. Shehzade here on the teaser is masking his expression while having to convince this old adviser Farooq Sahib that it was only to look into the allegations that he received from Hindu Prince.

Like I mentioned on the C47 review the original crack in the AMK / Shehzade relationship where AMK felt the blow, now it's Shehzade's turn to asses the new damage. He totally values AMK's expertise & loyalty. However he is also shrewd enough to know once a small scratch is visible it has to be dealt with immediately for his own survival. AMK will need to dig deep & bring out all his survival skills to confront this. It will be a walk on very thin ice & having to shield his Sahiba along with Parnagarh only adds more difficulty. However knowing he is no longer a lone ranger but the love of his life is one hundred percent behind him is where he will draw that extra oomph he will need to contain the rift.

Of course I know he wouldn't commit treason, to protect his Begum... not against ME!' -

Though this sentence makes us wonder if we should doubt the Shehzade's intentions we are privy to the ground situation & know all that transpired between our leads. So fret we shall have to.

That little ant which was probably tracing it's way home like you mentioned met it's doom & had no warning. But our AMK will get appraised of the situation in the Capitol & Mahendar's tattle tales hopefully sooner than later. There is no doubt the upcoming update will be a thrilling tale. W&W / TWT 😃

This time it took many more lengthy sighs for the Shehzaade to come back with an answer. 'Well... the information I received, is that Akbar not only KNOWS about all of this... but that he seized every single scroll... had them burnt... imprisoned the messengers... basically' he almost seemed amused by this point 'that Akbar buried it all underground, so nothing would come out in the open...'

'WHAT?' blinked Farooq Sahib. 'No' he blinked again. 'No... no... no... this cannot be true... who brought you such bizarre information, my Huzoor?'

'A Hindu prince'

'What?' his head shook, under the shadow of his large scholarly turban 'You cannot believe the words of a Hindu prince, Huzoor! The Hindus always have ulterior motives... dividing us, by coming up with such stories!'

'Farooq Sahib... don't you think I recognise that?'

'Huzoor... 10 years we've known Akbar... all that has ever mattered to him is YOUR well-being! The loyalty that runs in his veins is deeper than the colour of blood...' he brushed an awkward finger through his long beard 'he wouldn't commit treason to protect a mere woman, would he?'

'Obviously...' scoffed the Shehzaade 'obviously he wouldn't!'
He then turned away, to break the edgy monotony by beginning to take a casual stroll across his chamber - possibly to mask his expressions from the adviser 'Of course, I know... I know that I cannot trust the words of a Hindu Kunwar over Akbar... Of course I know he wouldn't commit treason, to protect his Begum... not against ME!' His stares locked down at a spot on the floor. A tiny ant was scuttling about his spot, maybe tracing its way back home. For many moments he watched the spot, his mind journeying elsewhere...

'Huzoor... I would like to be promoted to the rank of a special-ranking Mansabdar... permanently posted at Parnagarh!'

'Huzoor... then with your word as assurance, can I take it that my family and my men will be safe... even if and when I'm not around, to protect them?'

'The Sahiba will become family Huzoor... when I make her my bride... with your blessings, of course...'

'Not a manoeuvre Huzoor... but a desperate measure... I realised I couldn't sit by and let her die... not today... not ever'

'Of course I know' Abruptly crushing the little ant into a flat carcass with the sole of his foot, the Mughal heir turned around 'I know better than to doubt my intelligence officer'
He returned to take his place opposite the old adviser, jutting his chin out. 'But I would be a fool, if I didn't look into these allegations... that too, allegations brought to my personal attention by a prince, no less... HOWEVER absurd those allegations may sound!'

'Which is why you want ME to investigate Akbar Mahmoud Khan?'
'Yes'

From work, I couldn't write any more Lashy but the parallel with the ant was more than mindblowing! This is the reason you will always remain our Jane Austen! I love such allegory in writing, which gives us layers and raises the bar high from appreciation to applaudable! 👏

Now in the last chapter, I liked Shehzade and his presence measuring Mahendra up but I knew this feeling will not last long! I deduced where and how his mind is running but at the same time I can't help but feel at awe of him. If anyone can take AMK for a ride it is Shehzade! And yet he is intriguing for the several shades he possesses, for the way his mind runs around in a maze of thoughts trying to find out the way, finding solutions to the problems, the layers he peels off one after another to get to the core of matters without leaving anything aside, calculating each and every aspect and outcome...such a cunning character can be nothing less than interesting, charismatic and puzzling!

I am amazed to see how you have made his mind work. He already was pondering about Mahendra's information about AMK and is in a quandary whether to believe him or not and doubting his own mind which is also reflected by Farooq Sahib! He is siding with his opinion whereas his mind is still meandering to the past analysing all possible angles. All this he is doing looking away from the old adviser so that even he doesn't know his thoughts about the whole issue And then suddenly his eyes fall on the ant!!

In our wildest imaginations can we ever think of AMK as an ant?? 😲 No, never and yet that is what he is to Shehzade in stature and power! Just like the ant, he pictured AMK scampering around to get back to his home, Parnagarh but the way he used Shehzade to make Parnagarh his home was what was reflected by Shehzade! He knew his arms were twisted by AMK to make him Mansabdar and then agreeing to his marrying Heera...all came back in a flash! And he was not comfortable then to give his sole blessings and that thorn in his mind suddenly tore all the curtains of trust about AMK! As I wrote many times, once seeds of mistrust are sown then it can create havoc and destructions. History and Literature are full of such anecdotes and stories where people have seen the light of doom because of doubts and mistrust from their close ones!

And to what extent is he willing to go if he found out AMK had committed treason? The fate of the ant will be the outcome of AMK if Shehzade finds out he has been betrayed by AMK! The way he stamped on the ant killing it with gusto and power and strength again says a lot! All his goodwill, trust, being a mentor or guardian to AMK will take a back seat! The moment he recapitulated the conversations I could see his doubtful mind making a decision of investigating AMK with certainty! Even a moment ago he was in a dilemma but not anymore!! With surety, he turned around killing the ant, and spoke his mind with conviction! In front of the old adviser, he will not say openly he doubts AMK but he put it diplomatically that he needs to find out if the Hindu Prince was truthful or not! And if even 1 percent of what he was told was true the fate of AMK will be the fate of the ant crushed to a carcass! 😭😔

What was fascinating was to see how Shehzade's mind worked through layers of fog, removing one layer at a time till he came to a clear standing where he could see light seeping through the thin layer finally to exposure. This was more than appealing to me! But now more than intrigue I am scared! I don't want to see AMK suffer in his hands, now AMK has to use all his Ustaad dimaag to do 'chor ke upar sina chodi'!! He has to use a dose of Shehzade's medicine on him in such a way that he can be one up on him!!

KS, be as fast as possible to reach the capital!! I have only two hopes left!! AMK being extra intelligent and smart and with his espionage information he will be able to decipher he is being investigated by Farooq Sahib or for that matter by anyone and so hopefully he will play his cards accordingly! And secondly, though Shehzade knows about the scrolls and messengers but nothing is there to be produced as proof! The scrolls are burnt and the messengers are dead! And neither will AMK's close men utter a word against him! So based on this lets hope for the best!!

If she reveal all the surprise elements before only then nothing left na...All her hard work and efforts will be fruitless na...that's why she always say wait and watch.

Lashy di assure us na there will be happy ending that's enough na but their journey before happy ending will be interesting to read...how both fight and win over all the evils .😳

Like she mentioned this during NJAPA time...

I hope to churn up - with a humble request to remember that even in fairy tales like 'Snow White' and 'Sleeping beauty' there were witches to contend with, before the prince and the princess could meet-and-kiss!
