Having been caught with her hand in the cookie jar, so to speak, Heera was forced to come clean about her actions following the stare-rathon ( out come the goosebumps ). It was a confession that paid off because it brought the pleasant truth to the surface and left her feeling more than a little sheepish.

His name coming out of the blue was a wonderful twist and what ensued was a charming scene that was so delightful to read. For a CIO to cater to his Begum's request at the drop of a hat just goes to show what a sweetheart he is (and don't we know that).
Yes... he was in no hurry right then... besides, their interactions have been rare... and those interactions being cordial, even rarer... he didn't want to lose the opportunity!

A fun and delectable interlude -as in April showers bring May flowers - that we enjoyed wholeheartedly before the reality check compelled us to return to the matter of her required presence in his room.

My prediction on how they would go on their short trip : our Begum Sahiba on Bahadur, her Khan Sahib, reins in hand, walking beside them ,leading the way. This would ensure the safety of the Sahiba -should she be taken ill all of a sudden and begin to slide off the horse, AMK would be there to break her fall. After all. she only has him beside her now!

Her heart leapt, forcing a pause 'The Sahiba of Parnagarh, of course has been brought under control, without much effort. You need not worry!'
The next moment, her heart leapt, even faster -
Amidst the constant high-strung drone of voices in the corridors, she'd suddenly recognised a steady baritone that sounded unnervingly familiar!
'Begum Sah...'
'Khan Sahib...' she played it very cool.

'I trust this letter finds you in good health, Huzoor. With the Grace of Allah, the days have mostly been smooth here. My men and I have settled down into our roles well. The miners paid me a visit a last week. Site inspection has been completed, the documents have been signed off and digging work is scheduled to start soon.
The initial resistance from the local community - WITH DUE ASSISTANCE FROM THE SAHIBA OF PARNAGARH, OF COURSE HAS BEEN BROUGHT UNDER CONTROL, WITHOUT MUCH EFFORT.'
Having stressed on the complete sentence that she had most probably read in bits, he narrated the rest of it too - both, the straightforward and the not-so-straightforward parts - for the benefit of his sceptical young Begum Sahiba.
