He Looked On...

He looked on as she draped the tricolour flag over her shoulders, caressing its smooth texture with her hands.

He looked on as she ran with the flag flying behind her and posed for the numerous cameras.

He looked on as her teary eyes collided with his hard ones. He refused to blink, taking in all the scenes passing in front of him. As if blinking would cause the beautiful dream to end.

It was a dream. Wasn't it? That she would be standing on the Olympic podium getting her medal while he would be clapping without tire.

But when the time came, his hands refused to move, his eyes refused to shed tears of happiness. Instead he opted to watch her, watch her celebrate her win and keep the happenings of the moment etched in his memory forever.

The award ceremony was over soon.

He looked on as she stood there on the podium kissing the metallic medal. With her head held high tonight, eyes covered in a thin sheen of tears, a big smile adorning her pink lips, she looked every inch the fighter that she was.

He looked on at the soaring tricolour. Saffron, white and green. Soaring up to claim the third position beside the other two.

He looked on as his girl, as he used to call her, look at him before letting the drop flow from her eyes.

His Jodha was the winner.

She had not just won a Olympic bronze in women's floor exercises.

She had defeated those men from her village who had humiliated her for wearing short clothes, who had once made her a social outcast.

She looked at her knight in shining armour, showing him that his faith in her had not been wrong.

She felt the tears escape her eyes.

Atlast, Jalal's Jodha won.

This is completely a random idea that came as I watched Sakshi Malik claim her first Olympic bronze in women's wrestling.😃

Thought how it would look with our JaJo.😉
