Happy Independence Day for India today!
It has been a while ... hope everyone is doing well.
I wanted to share a new fusion song I have been working on. It's dedicated to the Desh.

Desh means Country/ Motherland in Hindi; it also is a Raag that is often used in songs that express love for the Motherland. This song is a tribute to both.
I have combined two songs in Raag Desh.
You may remember from my Raagamalika thread- Raag Desh is one of my favorite raagas.

For this song, I start with Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay's poem, "Vande Mataram." The poem is a salute to the Motherland - a tribute to Her blessings to all of us from her streams to her gentle breezes.
Later, I add in parts of a Thillana in Raag Desh. A Thillana is a type of Carnatic/ South Indian composition that is usually the concluding piece, particulary in Dance recitals. This particular Thillana is composed by the renowned Lalgudi Jayaraman.
To me, the Thillana represents a crescendo - - of notes and pace. In this song, it reflects how we all have a role to play so our Motherland reaches Her full potential- through a crescendo of ideas, talent, and innovations.
I hope you enjoy it and look forward to your thoughts.
