Chapter 7
And she closed her eyes.
Unfortunately, Jalal didn't hear her (plot twist guys ). He only heard the name Jodha. Thus, he misunderstood.
Jalal's anger knew no bound, he only understood that only one person was responsible for Heer's condition.
Jodha Singh Rajput, he said with disgust. I knew that Jodha is a witch. She's a cheater no doubt. Why did she need to hurt Heer. Heer probably refused to work for her. He was in his thoughts when the bloody body was going on the stretcher. He quickly reached her delicate hand and lightly squeezed it as they entered the fancy ambulance.
Something that the male lead did not understand was that life plays a lot. It also changes a lot. We can't assume things that we are not sure of. We can't be overconfident. In fact, everything in moderation, was a saying he always had problems with. Did he ever see Jodha, Did Heer ever say that Jodha hurt her. See, all this prejudice because she won an award. His ego was hurt. And he hates the person who caused it. Intentionally or unintentionally, he's not the type of person to think too deep about it.
He was continuously staring the pale unconscious body. She looked very weak yet she still looked more beautiful than most women in the world. He was once again lost in the world of thoughts. What would have happened if he did not arrive at time? What would have happened if those dorks just completely killed her? He sent a silent prayer to Allah for sending him there. Suddenly, the startled nurse rapidly adjusted some equipment attached to the patient.
She's losing too much blood! , she scream.
Her sudden scream brought Jalal back to reality and let's say that the sight in front of him did not make the matter better. Heer was struggling to breathe as her chest was vigourously moving up and down. He tightened his grip around her hand, to assure himself.
Nothimg will happen to you, you get it, he scram strictly with an obvious painful expression.
That's when blood started oozing out of her mouth and the whole crew worriedly started doing anything that would slow down her deteriorating health.
She's going to die, he whispered with his eyes wide open.
Flashback 18 years back.
His dad died a day ago on the spot. The accident was a huge one. It was a severe car crash and the ones who found the couple rushed them back home. As the young man was pulling the victim's body, he froze. He put him back, leaned on him and tried identifying one sign of life. He stood there petrified and painfully met his wife's doe shaped eyes.
He's no more, my friend is no more, he said choking on his words.
Hamida was brought home even though she was in critical condition. The saviour couple tried their best to contact a physician but the Mughal Ancestral home was too far from modern civilisation. When he did contact a doctor though, it was too late. Just three more hours till the doctor's arrival. Hamida was on bed, surrounded by a couple with their 4 years old child and another poor little soul. She was gasping for air while her eyes were searching for her son.
Ja...la..l, she whispered.
In a matter of a second a young boy wrapped his arms around his mother, crying bitterly.
Ammi, ammi don't go, he cried.
Still struggling to breathe, she managed to caress her son's back. She switched her view to the teary couple and smiled seeing the little girl.
While continuously staring the baby, she uttered some words, as if she was talking to the child and not the parents.
Ta..ke ca..r..re of Jal..la
That's when a considerable amount of blood escaped her mouth.
She's going to die, the man whispered.
Even a monotone whisper was enough for the whole world to hear that moment.
That is how an 8 years old child, witnessed his beloved mother's death.
Flashback ends
DRIVE FASTER, SHE'S DYING. SHE'S NOT GONNA MAKE IT, WHERE'S THE HOSPITAL DAMN IT!
It's the 2nd time life is playing such a game in the lad's life. A painful past was repeating itself as if once was not enough. There he was, once again helplessly staring someone who somehow occupied a greater place in his life. Constantly, his mother's pain was flashing in front of his hazel eyes. He tightened his grip around Jodha's hand and the devastated man closed his eyes to fight his tears. He couldn't do anything before, but he has to do it now. His mother died in a similar manner, but he can't let another death take place.
They finally reached the hospital and the stretcher moved quickly to the gate. Jalal just obediently followed the emergency crew until he realized that he was stopped by someone.
Sorry Sir, you aren't allowed to enter the Operation Theater, said a nurse looking at the lost man.
He sat on the seats resting on the sides of the walls. Thinking about the situation he is in.
Why am I so worried about her? Why does she mean something to me? Ughh, he roughly placed his fingers on his temples, massaging vigorously. As he slowly closed his eyes, a faint memory started to develop, bringing a faint smile on his face.
Flashback:
Jalal and Abdul were not only friends, they were clearly almost like brothers. Since the boy met Jodha, his mind diverted into business in a whole new level. Jodha's tips and tricks were working like magic on his business stocks and he was getting temporarily dependant on them. To divert his mind, Abdul decided to bring him camping for 2 nights. He of course refused, but when Abdul mentioned that Heer was coming also, he could not deny (guys, he feels an attraction towards her, he does not know but Abdul knew before he quit). In fact, Abdul had to convince Heer first because he had a feeling that this lady will definitely win his friend's heart (but you know what happened after.) While the trio were going on a small hike, a type of rattlesnake bit Jalal on the nape of his neck. He realized that it might have crawled when they were resting in the forest. He hissed in pain and caught everyone's attention.
Oh my God Akbar (he told him to call him Akbar), you got bitten by a snake, uttered a panicked Abdul.
It's okay dude, it's not a dangerous one. I'm not dumb, we took our science classes together before, remember? He laughed out to lighten the atmosphere and to hide the disturbing pain.
Suddenly he felt wetness on his injury. It was a soft, even and tempered suction. He felt relaxed and relieved from the pain. But what made it, was the source. He shockingly saw Heer sucking the venom out of him. The softness of her lips, the wet nature of saliva, the proximity of a feminine body, he was in heaven. As her lips separated from his flesh, she spat on the ground.
Are you okay Akbar? She asked timidly.
Why? Why did you risk your health for me? What would have happened if you ingested the venom by accident? Do you know the repercussions ...
Woah there! She cut. I don't want anyone to have a painful trip and as a certified CPR and emergency specialist I think it was my job. Both were looking at her with questioning eyes.
Okay, okay, jokes apart, I seriously have a lot of knowledge. Look on the bright side, I am not dead yet and neither you Akbar. Let's not ruin the trip.
So you saved my life, what do you want in exchange? Asked Jalal.
Life, she immediately answered. She realized she has gone too far. I mean, if I ever need life, you'll have to help me attain it.
You mean life as in not dying? Then it's a deal, if you get hurt, I'll bring you to the hospital in order to save your life, he mockingly said and sarcastically smirked.
They continued their walk to the deep forest while Jodha was lost in her thoughts.
I want the opposite to happen, you won't understand she whispered and immediately caught up with the group.
Flashback End
No. No, no, no, this is just a mere duty. She saved my life once, I had to save her now. He was convincing himself that no matter what he doubts, he will stick to his original self. A few hours since she was last admitted, yet still no news.
In the meanwhile, he wondered what can Jodha Singh Rajput and Heer's relation be? Can she turn out to be her employee? No, she said that she is not a businesswoman. Can they be friends? Then why would she do this? His thoughts weren't making any sense, so he came to the conclusion that he misunderstood. Heer probably mentioned something else. However, this Jodha Singh Rajput, he still hates her and only he knows the reason behind his passionate hatred towards this relatively innocent girl. His mind claims that it is the fact that he lost in front of her. Though his heart has a total different story.
He was startled when the huge doors opened, the surgeons rushed towards the claimed guardian of the patient.
Mr., she has severe wounds on her skull and major blood loss. Even after this long operation, we aren't sure of her health. It seems very critical. According to the senior surgeons, she can either fall into a coma, loose memory, or most probably die, said the doctor helplessly.
All of the actors in this situation were now helpless. The doctors, Jalal, Jodha, everyone.
I just know that you are a team of doctor who needs to save a life at ANY COST! He screamed in the end pulling the guy's collar.
I'm sorry sir, it's all up to God.
He left his collar immediately and said politely with a shaky voice to save her, yet the man replied with the same dialogue and went back into the OT.
In the meanwhile, Jodha was lying on the hospital bed, all geared up with an oxygen mask, needles, heart monitor, and what not. That was what reality could see. However, she was there, in the vast darkness.
Where am I? She whispered.
And that's when a light ray suddenly reflected on her face. She immediately had the reflex by placing her hand above her forehead to decrease the intensity of the light. Slowly, three glowing figures were approaching the girl. A lone tear escaped the corner of her eye.
Ma, Papa? She innocently asked, happiness clearly present on her face.
Hmm, Jodha, we were waiting though you came quite early, said the smiling father.
Indeed, I guess you missed us a lot, said the giggling mother.
Jodha, are you sure you want to come with us, are you ready to leave everything, did you live life to the fullest?
Life is and was meaningless without you guys, a fool would want to go back.
The couple chuckled and that's when she realized there was a third person. She was glowing, her glow was brighter than anyone's future. Her angelic smile was enough to hypnotize, yet she had teary eyes.
Do I know you, Jodha politely asked.
Don't leave him, was the reply.
He needed you, needs you, and will always need you she said with a broken voice.
Jodha was trying to understand what the lady said but as she was thinking her mother cut her.
It's not time to come here Jodha, I promise we will meet again in this same place, but you will miss life then.
Never, please no, she started crying.
Trust the Almighty, go back, you will come back sooner than you think.
No, no, no.
She opened her eyes. Sweating profoundly under all the sheets covering her. Where am I?
😊
