Thanks da... 🤗
Though, at most, all I've done is add a bindi to the already exquisite unparalleled beauty that is the poem itself!

Btw Harshu... just meant to ask... did you read the chapter? 😳

Kotwal is a policeman cum judge (in India we call Panchayat) this was the system followed around this (15th - 17th c) time.. because every city every problem could not be taken to the capital... (transportation/time constraints) so the Kotwal is the authority of the city... most possibly, he wouldn't need anyone's permission to go into a house... and at this time (unlike today), houses/rooms had no doors either... only a main door, which was only closed at night...

Plus, Akbar was not even there at home when this happened... he was on his way out of town and returned to find the Kotwal and all his men there...

Also, this is not like the fancy metropolitan cities of today where everyone minds their own business... in smaller towns and villages, one house's problem becomes entire neighbourhood's problem. I don't know how it is in Russia, zhanna... but even today in India, people will barge in uninvited... to give their opinions, raise their voices and add to the confusion too, if they sense a problem in a neighbour's house! 😆

Don't get me wrong... many times, such people help too... 😊

Thank you for the clarification! I was always very interesting to try to understand the habits and customs of the "inside". Stories of travelers - it's still the opinions of people with a different mentality. We have such a relationship can only be in small villages. But to break into a house other people will not..

Even the policemen? 🤔 Cannot enter?

It's because in Russia taken hold in the villages of guard dogs. (In city too).😛 Usually this mongrel dogs, but now a lot such as ...

The Caucasian Shepherd Dog

Such a majestic creature.. like a wolf, nearly! 😉

or

Central Asian Shepherd Dog (alabuy)

These dogs can be equated to the possession of weapons. 😃

And with such guards the house no one will want to intrude.

of course... though there were Akbar's managers/stable boys already there... so Kotwal had only responded to the alarm raised

You are very right, that this unceremoniousness has a positive side, if you require immediate assistance.

You know you'd said Gauri was prejudiced against Akbar because he was a Mughal...it's not true... she was prejudiced against him because he is the man who's able to get her Lady Harka out of depression... she fears for Harka's future...

Actually, the boy (Gafhoor's brother) Gauri was protecting, was a Muslim boy too... here the prejudice was because of the 'Man' Khan Sahib is (someone whom Heera is growing fascinated by)... and not because of his religion... because she knows such a union is not favourable!😳 So, she has an inherent dislike for him..

I agree. A biased opinion is not Gauri, rather, Bindy and others from the group of Heera.
I admire Gauri. When I wrote that I didn't trust the boy, it because I had read about the identity of Akbar in the previous chapters. Smile For Gauri he is a stranger and her kindness and fortitude worthy of high praise.

Thank you dear.. 🤗 I keep meaning to ask... how is your knee, now?

The Story so far...

The tension in the Moghul Court and the anger of the Prince
The minister searching for proof but failing to convince
The sezadhe wanting it by hook or crook
For which the steps his sidekick took
And the young seventeen year old
Trying to protect the lands with difficulties untold
Tell the importance of Parngarh, and its fields of iron ore,
Her formidable courage and the heights to which she soared!

She was a beauty and also had a tact
She showed by her purchase of the Arab horse for her price to be exact
But alas! All her effort failed while protecting the farman
From the clutches of the Prince's evil man
She fought with indomitable courage, alone with all her might
Poor lass! She lost her dignity and her life that night
Having in her mind the only solace
That the farman was kept in a secret undisclosed place..

Her sixteen year old sibling who was to protect the legacy
Travelled in disguise in the dense forest with her disability
With a dozen aides and a few maids
For protection in case of any raids
Destiny made her meet on her way a stranger
Who happened to save her from any danger
Little did she think she would meet him again
For events that later happened were nobody's design

Destiny again made her stay a few nights
In his haveli, to be under his sight
Which gave her a chance to meet him twice or thrice
That gave her a strange sensation to her surprise
He made a mark in her heart so deep
That inside his heart she wanted to peep
He must have had a past in his life she did presume
But was hesitant to probe it and exhume..

Petty events took place for them to come closer
But he didn't reveal his mind but remained a poser
What will happen between them is anybody's guess
But it may be anything with a man who is under stress
For the author has shown a twist in the tale
By revealing a 'not so important man' an evil male
Will the forthcoming events justify,
The talent of the author to testify?

Karkuzhali.

Incredible...
