Ugadi / Yugadi / Samvasaradi / Gudipadwa is the New Year's Day for the people of the Deccan region of India. Ugadi marks the first day of the new year. Chaitra is the first month in Panchanga which is the Indian calendar. Ugadi is celebrated in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Punjab, West Bengal and Assam with different names. On this day, people made a special dish called Ugadipachadi (Ugadi Pickle) to celebrate this day. The Ugadipachadi is made of six different tastes, each resembling the shades of life. It is prepared with different tasting ingredients like neem buds, jaggery, banana, green chilli, salt, tamarind juice, and mango.
