Vini,
This thought was in my mind also, but then the question is - What was Jodha doing in the War Khema ? It looked as if Jalal is in some tent.!</font>

Abhay in the promo jalal is in war khema but jodha is shown in her room at the palace itself. So mayb someone will give jalal wrong info...

The last 2 episode have been so power packed, the CV's have finally got a gist of what the audience wants to see and have shown us 2 episodes that have been laced with the right amount of emotions.

Jalal and Jodha:

The amount of maturity in this relationship, and trust for one another is so beautiful to see. In this whole track instead of just showing JJ as worried parents, we have got a JJ who are putting themselves first. I loved the conversion scene, where Jodha realizes that Jalal has been edging her all this while not to change her religion, and she is doing the exact opposite.

In this track we have gotten to see a Jalal who has not been stating the obvious to Jodha, but instead giving her gist's of the matter, and making her figure it out herself. He has been giving her the freedom to make her choices after stating the facts. When Jodha comes back after denying the conversion, she said however much this conversion would have helped, I would have betrayed Shehenshah, and that's not something I can do. This relationship has come to such a beautiful stage.

What could have been one of the most gigantic MU's, was instead a scene that was a reassurance of Jodha's stance. There was no lies, nothing hidden, she said all that happened to his face, and then told him her decision of handling it herself, and he was all for it.

Jala and Jodha have come such a long way, there is no more the need to keep things away from one another, because they know the other one is always going to be there to support the other irrespective of situations. They have come to believe one another completely, knowing that the other is never going to do something with bad intent. They say a true realtinship is only possible, when there are no lies, so JJ have definitely hit the true love mark. :)

Salim and Jodha:

However much you drug the person, and put the nastiest of thoughts in his head, you can never take away the love for his mother. Yesterday's scene was so natural and beautiful.

Sometime children can say the nastiest of things without meaning it, and later make up to the parents. If Salim never came back to Jodha after saying those unimaginable things to apoligise, I would have said that the relationship is dead. But he did, war and separation from his parents at a young age had not made him emotionless but had just made him reserved.

How could he ever trust them, what if they sent him away again? With thoughts like that running around in one's mind, it takes a lot of courage to finally open up and say what one really wishes to. No child would ever want to be the reason for his parent's pain, and the amount of pain that Jodha would go through if she had to leave her Kanha and take up a religion to which she could never give all her heart would be immeasurable. Maybe the fact that Jodha almost did take up Islam, triggered Salim's mental state at some level, making him realize that his mother loves him so very immensely. Maybe he realized that he had misunderstood his mother's emotions for him all along.

I hope this relationship stays intact. Whatever Ruakiiya does I hope Salim does not fall for it, because that would make his character like a pendulum, and makes half the things he says meaningless.

Ammijaan??

I am still very irked by Hamida Bano. This sudden change of mind regarding Jodha taking up Islam seems so baseless. After being so tolerant, why does she still fail to understand this is not just about Jodha keeping her religion, it's religious freedom in the whole of Hindustan being questioned here, that too by a force 1000's of miles away.

And as a mother, who has always considered Jodha as a daughter, doesn't she know how painful this will be for Jodha to give up all the beliefs she has grown up with, all the beliefs that she has weaved her character around. By forcing Jodha to convert, is she not propagating the idea that only Muslims can rule, where is all that equality now?

A wife who is grateful to the Shah for giving her husband shelter has clouded her decision both as Mariyam Makani and as a Mother, who chooses to live in the past rather than realize the repercussions that her own empire will have to face, if they give into an external force.

Promo:

I will personally go and kill the CV's if they are going to make a pointless MU now, after establishing the JJ relationship as a strong one where there is no place for lies.

I am guessing this just might be Tedha Jalal who is trying to solve the rift between Ammijaan and Jodha, He knows if HB finds out that he is leaving Jodha because she almost converted, however dissed off she is with Jodha she will not want her to leave for sure. So then she might speak to Jalal and the rift between Jodha and her will end. This is just a guess. It could be a dream, but whose? A Rukaiiya who wishes for this to happen?

Waiting for today's episode. I am glad that JA is finally seeing some great improvement, I hope they don't spoil all this now by getting in the VK or whatever supernatural character. 😆

PS: Today is Earth day, please do your bit switch of all unnecessary fans and lights, not only today, but everyday. :p

Awesome writeup dear Aadhya.😊 Missed reading your views since a few days. Glad to have you back in action.

In your entire write-up I loved the part when you have said that 'No child would ever want to be the reason for his parents' pain'. Very very profound thoughts.

Salim always reacts impetuously, in the heat of the moment. Deep inside, he has truly loved his parents. The Creatives are attempting damage control by showing us the caring side of Salim after haven done irreparable damage to his reel life personality in the first place. As long he does not let his 'ammijaan' influence him, nothing else matters.

I echo your thoughts on the promo. I too feel that this whole 'talaq' issue is part of Jalal's game plan to either mislead the Shah of Iran or to mend fences between his mother and Jodha.

However the latest print media release about a 'Vish kanya' all set to make an appearance in the mahal with the intention of harming Jalal, is really annoying. Even though I do not foresee a repetition of the Benazir track, I am wondering if the Vish Kanya is an accomplice of the Shah of Iran, (whose aim might be to get rid of Jalal for not giving into his demands) or is set up by someone from within the Mahal, or has been sent by a new enemy of Jalal who is going to be introduced soon.

As long as the basic identities of the principal characters is not lost, I can still tolerate any usual filmy NR. However, after showcasing Jalal and Jodha's love and understanding develop and mature over their years of togetherness, after portraying them as soul-mates, I will sincerely hope that the Creatives do not take a U-turn and go back to their daily soap theory of showing Jalal falling for the charms of another woman .

Ruks cannot be given that title.. she does not have the depth of character to understand what is being a "mother".She is just a selfish woman.. whose only motive in life seems to be making Jodha unhappy...

Jalal had said this to Maham.. now aptly suits Ruks also.. you call yourself a mother but you have never imbibed the qualities of a mother .. ..( Maa ke soch se marhum rahi aap) a mother is not selfish... here she is just using Salim to meet her ends.. I dont understand how Salim does not understand this? Would a mother ever feed Afeem to her son? She is nowhere near Jo ,Hamida and Salima... .. She only loves herself .. and no one else.. To get someones unconditional love.. you have to love someone unconditionally.. that she cannot.. OMG I am just venting out .. I cant tolerate her character ..

Hamidas fears are that if Jalal goes against Shah-Iran. all Islamic nations would turn against Jalal .. She fears the repercussions but I feel her fears will be put to rest with time.I hope she trusts her son more...

Jo-Salim bonding was a treat to watch though I wanted him to call Jo Masaa or Ammijaan tleast yesterday..But atleast he showed that he loves her and respects her values.

Thank you @neesha19.😊

I echo your views on Rukaiyya. Whether we like her or not, unfortunately the Creatives do and have deemed her worthy of being addressed as 'ammijaan'. The very purpose of addressing her as mother number three is to highlight the flaws of a queen who sadly proves that she is a mother in name only. As hard as she may try, she can never never match the superlative qualities of Salim's biological mother.

Abhay Radhika Charu Andy and all very interesting discussions HB is visiting her second childhood behaving in an adamant and childish fashion and only looking at short term and immediate benefits . She forgot she is the bujurg of the family and giving wrong advice. Just like it happens in real life sometimes.

How I hope the promo triple T of SH is for Ruq Begum but then no such luck for us. It is a disjointed promo from different places lets W&W😉

Thanks a tonne Charu, means a lot coming from you. :)

This is definitely damage control from the CV's side, they know they cant undo the leap, so their fixing Salim's character. Exactly, Rukaiyya is definitely up to something, and if Salim falls for it again, none of this compassion will matter.

I echo your thoughts on the promo. I too feel that this whole 'talaq' issue is part of Jalal's game plan to either mislead the Shah of Iran or to mend fences between his mother and Jodha.

But Jalal is in his khema, and Jodha in the palace, that makes the HB theory seem quite improbable. Or have they joint to unrelated scenes just to create this confusion in the audiences mind?

However the latest print media release about a 'Vish kanya' all set to make an appearance in the mahal with the intention of harming Jalal, is really annoying. Even though I do not foresee a repetition of the Benazir track, I am wondering if the Vish Kanya is an accomplice of the Shah of Iran, (whose aim might be to get rid of Jalal for not giving into his demands) or is set up by someone from within the Mahal, or has been sent by a new enemy of Jalal who is going to be introduced soon.

If he's going for war now, it might not be the Shah, the CV's will always have some negative characters in their kitty. But the whole point that are openly repeating this Vishkanya angle, is what makes me think. There have been serials who are doing well on TRP's after they introduced a certain supernatural-superhuman element. But how they willw ork around this track, god knows.

As long as the basic identities of the principal characters is not lost, I can still tolerate any usual filmy NR. Yes, so true. 👏👏👏

All the older NR's kept the characters consistent, now if they do something similar to spoiling of HB's character, just to add this so called 'masala' to the track, people who have started watching it again will leave. After establishing that Jalal loves Jodha so much, if they make Jalal like this VK, it will be the last straw.

And there's no demand in the story to make Jodha jealous or anything like that either, because even Jodha is pretty sure that Jalal likes her best. So this jealousy angle too will be overplayed. Maybe they show Jalal not interested in the VK, but the VK interested in him, and Ruks doing something to get the 2 closer.

Charu. 🤗

Glad to be back too after a mini break. Missed out some great discussions on the previous threads though. :)

Radhika, for two days in a row, I am happy after watching JA. Yesterday because Jodha did not let Jalal down and proved that she is his 'ardhangini' in the truest sense. Today because Salim did not let Jodha down as a son and stayed true to the fact that despite all miscommunication and bouts of anger towards his parents, he truly loves them. That his love for his mother is deep, his respect and admiration for her sincere, was completely visible today.

Today's episode also brought to light, the striking contrast in the personalities of three mothers in the mahal, whose lives are connected to each other. Hamida Begum, Jodha Begum and Rukaiyya Begum.

Hamida Begum, the queen mother, matriarch of the family who has always been wise and levelheaded with her thinking and decisions is now opposed to Jalal announcing war with the Shah of Iran. So determined is she to thwart his plans that she tried to emotionally manipulate Jodha into converting into Islam, in order to please the Shah, a plan that sadly did not materialize because Jodha's love and respect for her husband and the promise that she made to him, prevented her from giving up the religion of her birth.
The revelation by Jodha that she was coerced into visiting the 'ibaadat khana' for the purpose of conversion by his mother, left Jalal shocked and upset. He found it hard to believe that his mother had actually indulged in such an act. We are yet to see him confront his mother about this issue, however we saw how disappointed he was with her actions.
We see a mother who is still showing gratitude towards the Shah's father for favors done towards Babur and Humayun, in the past. Why is she unable to realize that the present and future well-being of Hindustan lies in its freedom from external forces dictating terms and conditions of governance on it. Why is she unable to understand Jalal's point of view? Why is she not able to understand that by not bowing to the Shah's interference in his administration, Jalal is up-keeping the dignity of the Mughal Sultanate and that of his aawaam. Why is Hamida Begum disrespecting the decision of her judicious son? As a mother why has her love towards Jodha and Jalal turned conditional? Is there something more than meets the eye?

Jodha Begum, a mother who is selfless, who silently missed her child when he was sent away for training on the battlefield, a mother who quietly swallowed tears of hurt at her sons' uncalled for behavior towards her, a mother who magnanimously allowed/allows a motherless fellow queen to have complete access and motherly privileges towards her child, and above all a mother whose love is totally unconditional.
Salim proved me right with my thinking that he may be angry with his parents, have occasional angry outbursts at them, but love them he does, with all his heart. It is that deep love for his father and mother which he was unable to experience between ages eight to seventeen that has made him display indifferent behavior towards them. Salim's feelings of immense respect, love and admiration for his mother, was clearly revealed today. The manner in which he quietly entered his mother's hojra, folded his hands in obeisance and lit the lamp while Jodha was apologizing to him for letting him down by not converting to Islam, was one of the best scenes that I have seen in recent weeks. The silent actions spoke volumes about his high regard for his mother.
Jodha's expressions of motherly pride and love towards Salim when he accepted his flaws and unhesitatingly acknowledged that had she converted to Islam just for his sake, he would have been disappointed with her, stood out and left me moist eyed too.
Paridhi Sharma has excelled in the interaction with her onscreen son. To give the reel son his due, Ravi Bhatia also came up with an awesome performance today. His voice modulation, body language and expressions were bang on. This mother-son bonding will be etched in my memory for long.

'The heart of a mother is a deep abyss the bottom of which, you will always find forgiveness'. This saying is apt for Jodha. Despite the turbulent relationship she shares with Salim, she is the large hearted mother who forgives and continues loving.

The fallen angel, mother number three ammijaan Rukaiyya Begum, I find it very hard to place her on the same exalted position as Hamida Begum and Jodha by designating her as a mother. Nevertheless, I will do so, just to make my character comparisons easier. Mother she is, not biologically, but just by right of being Jalal's first wife. She has repeatedly proved that she is unworthy of being a mother with her unpardonable, malicious actions towards Salim right since childhood. She is continuing to constantly misuse Salim's love, respect and trust in her to poison him against his parents, especially his mother, whom she believes has snatched away all her happiness ever since Jalal married her. She is the most self centered, jealous, manipulative, destructive, spiteful, wicked and repulsive example of a mother ever. Her fake love for Salim is conditional, her only aim being to cause grief to Jalal and Jodha by filling his mind with unpleasant, vicious thoughts about his parents thereby causing further strain and unpleasantness in their relationship.

On the one hand there is Jodha who assures the Shehenshah that her mother Mariam Makani's anger towards her daughter( meaning herself) is only temporary and that she will clear the air and set everything right. She pleads with him not to interfere in the sensitive matter between her and her mother-in-law. She assures him about making peace with Mariam Makani.

Rukaiyya on the other hand is thrilled about the fallout between Hamida Begum and Jodha and cannot wait to spread this news within the harem. She has also decided to take further steps to bring Salim within her control and vowed to create additional problems between him and Jodha.
Jodha wants to create peace within the family and Rukaiyya further unrest and unhappiness.

Hamida Begum's obstinate, unbending, petulant behavior towards Jodha and this entire issue of conversion is not befitting that of a Queen Mothers' at all.

( I normally skip all of Rukaiyya's scenes. Today's episode had me not wanting to skip any part. What I wasn't prepared for was, when she screamed like a woman possessed. At first I thought that she was hurt, then I realized that it was her screaming in a fit of rage. The scene where she ingests 'afeem' was really unpleasant and scary. I wonder what other despicable idea she has up her sleeve.)

👏👏👏👏

Charu, so well written. Such an epic comparison of the main royal ladies we are getting to see, though royal is not a very befitting word to use for Rukaiyya. :p

Really brings out the stark difference between Jodha and Rukaiyya. I am liking the Jodha of the past 2 episodes a lot, she is not being 'mahaan' the tag that all Ek female leads get. She is being strong and thinking about herself and Jalal's trust in her, more than fulfilling the baseless demands of her ammijaan. :)

my noted regarding VK issue, i think if the CV's or the PH insist with new VK entering then the TARGET have been change, NOT to Jalal but to Jodha.
I think its interesting all plotting murder forward, the target is Jodha, cause Jodha as MEH entering in Mughal politics.
