They want to ensure that they strip the man of every inch of the tremendous stature he possessed.I really want to give 100 kodas to today's writer plus put a 100 keedas that he/she imagined under his/her pillow.😡

Jodha Akbar 458: Rajat's Jalal reveals a new hunar!
My dearest girls,
You really disappoint me, you do! Here you had a comic turn by Rajat's Jalal on Wednesday that was worthy of Charlie Chaplin and Marcel Marceau at their best, and all that you can find to say in praise of it that you loved his schoolboy naughtiness??😲
Just twice, Amina?? I have watched 6 times running by now.Get thee behind me, all of you, while I try to do something worthy of that performance!
I said Chaplin, who acted mostly in silent films, and the iconic mime Marceau because here Rajat acted very little with his lines - which were quite commonplace - or even his voice, and mostly with his face. Not just, as usual, his eyes, though I always say that he can make them, and his voice, do anything he wants to, but with the brows, the neck, the mouth, the chin, and even the ears!
It was phenomenal, his whole take, and proof of its quality was that in a scene that should have belonged to Ruqaiya - who put on a solid snivelling act - and Jodha - being goody goody as usual - he just took it away from both of them.
His subtlety was almost infinite, as was the sheer speed of his facial movements, and repeat viewings show more and more nuances to be relished.
He begins, when he lands up in the middle of Kausalya's tirade against Mathura, by looking, understandably, puzzled. As he begins to catch on, his retort to Kausalya's complaint about his wife's cooking: Mujhe to achcha hi lagta hai.. Aur apni biwi ki haathon ka khana kise achcha nahin lagta? is a swift recover, delivered with the utmost naturalness and accompanied by a sly, secret half smile.
Then, to reinforce the idea that he is a a joru ka ghulam (which he is, of course!😉), Kyon humein pitwaneka kaam kar rahi hain? Rooth gayee hain to humein hi manana hoga na unhein?.
As he turns away to go after Ruqaiya, he looks at Jodha, and the left eye narrows and the left brow is raised in a split second, in a mild reprimand: Why did you do this now?
Now the fun really starts, and Rajat begins spreading his wings in a marvellous comic turn.
As Ruqaiya rants about Jodha's having insulted the Padshahi Begum, to whom even the Shahenshah had never raised his voice so much, his face moves in incredible ways. The head nods, up and down, left to right, and the eyes blink, all in frantic acquiescence with her complaints, while the voice pleads for calm and reason: Magar Ruqaiya..., and the brain is clearly searching desperately for a way out of this unexpected mini-crisis.
His hesitant yet hopeful plea: Ek bar hamari baat samajhne ki koshish karein..Jodha Begum aapko zaleel karne k baare mein soch bhi nahin sakti! only brings down a fresh storm of protest on his head, accompanied by the accusation that since he was there and had seen it all, how could he now side with Jodha??
At this point, Jalal's head, neck, chin, all make a rotary motion in perfect unison, like the neck movement mudra of a Bharatanatyam dancer, as he struggles to convey assent and dissent at the same time. He swallows, his jaws move mechanically as he seeks an escape route.
It does not help. As Ruqaiya launches into the details of all that she had sacrificed to help him and Jodha Begum, he again goes into a vigorous assent mode, nodding his head up and down energetically, while his eyes, bright and questing, show that his brain is whirring in top gear.
Enter Jodha Begum, endorsing Ruqaiya's complaint straightaway, and Jalal's eyes reflect alarm: Aap yahan kya kar rahi hain? His mouth opens and shuts like that of an automaton, as he tries in vain to fob her off and prevent still more trouble. As Ruqaiya reiterates her plaints, even more forcibly, his head nods once more in despairing agreement, and he seems to have thrown in the towel.
It is only after Jodha has managed to sort things out that his eyes light up with relief, and he moves, now confidently for the first time, into I told you so! mode. And as they watch Jodha leaving, his face is bright with pride in her wisdom and resourcefulness, and his wide smile reflects his profound thankfulness: Ya Khuda, baal baal bach gaye!
I cannot remember having seen anything so superbly done, not in a long time. I thought that I knew everything that Rajat has to offer, and that is an enormous range, but he still has the power to surprise me. Comedy, that too facial comedy, is perhaps the most difficult of all genres for an actor, but our boy is master of that as well!👏👏👏
There, that is better ! Don't you agree?

shyamala my dearest and the loveliest! this kid is a marvel..i watched the scene you mentioned many times to get all the expressions that you have so beautifully explained in your lines..i would have missed all of that in frustration of the current track but you gave a new angle to the scene..and that reminds me of the movie i just saw Cinderella where cate blanchett has done a wonderful job her every expression and even her tiny wrinkle on the face is worth capturing in the frame...and similarly when i watch this particular scene again and again i find every expression as a gem that needs to be preserved and kept sacred!..and that is why i adore this boy..only if he gets a good break in a bigger and better project he will outshine many and will never have to look back!
