Friends, when I saw the episode yesterday it looked like like it was the longest episode I have ever seen ... second after second we saw the ultra-saddest scenes of poor little Salim pleading, begging not to be sent away to Kadir's house, and dragging his feet the whole distance of 100 feet between the palace courtyard and the gates, and turning around saying "Maasa, Maasa" in the most heart rending way ...
... and yet when I try to explain in this post what all happened yesterday there is only one short sentence I can write to cover the whole episode:
"EVERYBODY INCLUDING SALIM WERE VERY SAD THAT SALIM WAS GOING AWAY TO KADIR'S HOUSE!"
That's it. That was the whole story of the whole episode.
It started with Ruq being arrested by Jalal, only for Hamida to get all bristly and pull rank on Jalal saying "I am Marium Makkani, and there's a law that the BEK cannot be arrested, so I forthwith free her!" Finito!
Jalal piped down and let the wicked witch go scot free. And then Jalal told Khanekhana to ensure Salim changes to a common man's garb and is led to Kadir's house where he would have to do all the chores that Kadir did at home till Kadir got well again. Much, much later in the episode it occurred to Hamida to ask Jalal, "What if Kadir never gets well?" whereupon Jalal told her sombrely "Well, then, Salim stays there forever!"
Anyway, after Salim was thus punished by Jalal's DEA proclamation, then came the torrent of sad scenes one after another. Granted that the actor Ayan did a simply fabulous job. But still watching a goodbye scene unadulterated for near on 20 minutes was a bit too much for me to take, gripping as it was.
Poor Salim was tracked with every step he took for the last 100 feet from the palace gates, and with every step he turned to one of his family members asking them to please intervene with his Dad on his behalf and see that he didn't have to go ... he hugged and pleaded with everyone almost ... Hamida, Khanekhana, Jodha and even Jalal. He even cast a baleful eye on Ruq. But alas, no one was able to help him by crossing the diktat of the Shahenshah which was anyway deemed to be for his moral good.
Jalal watched with hidden sadness from close quarters and then from a balcony as Salim eventually left ... he made sure Khanekhana and Mansingh would be in disguise close by to Salim for his safety, but he wouldn't change his mind about Salim's punishment!
Anyway we then had Salim see the type of living he would have to do, when he reached his destination and all he saw a rickety bed in one corner of the hut (graciously offered to him by Grandma, who offered to sleep on the floor). The boy looked aghast for the bed was no better than the floor.
Grandma actually also wanted Salim gone from her house for she felt the King has shown his intention for insaaf and there was no need for the little boy to actually co-habit with her and Kadir!
And then when Salim asked for water and saw a dirty mud pot given to him, he used thewater to wash his face instead and then broke the mud pot with dejection. But Khanekhana insisted that even those pieces of the pot could not be picked up by sipahis (who were there merely for Salim's safety) and Salim would have to do EVERYTHING himself!
By now I was feeling so sorry for the little boy that when Daniyal offered to starve in mourning for Salim's plight, I fully understood his feelings.
Anyway after Salim's departure Jodha looked to Khanekhana for news of Salim at which point Khanekhana tried bluffing that he was well - but couldn't sustain his lies and walked off unable to face Jodha. And then Jalal saw Jodha pacing the floor of her room in great agitation like a soul possessed ... and told a concerned Hamida that he knew her feelings, for he too was a sad father, but Salim needed to value "insaaf" above all else as a future king!
What else can I say here, I think I have touched upon every little torturously sad detail, so here I go ... boo hoo, boo hoo, boo hoo!😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Just one point here as I go ... Jalal said NO ONE CAN GO AND MEET SALIM AT ALL! So how come the spoiler picture shows the wicked witch in the hut with Salim?
I asked Diksha this question by SMS yesterday and she said "Ruq doesn't listen to Jalal's orders. It is Jalal who listens to Ruq's orders!" She's dead right!
