A few thoughts on yesterday's episode
These days I cannot write a take given I am busy at work ... but I will try to do posts on the weekend when I can. I continue to be intrigued by Rajat's Jalal and his expressions and felt Paridhi emoted very well in the last scene when she asked Jalal what was going on.
The Jalal-Atifa angle is puzzling as it is completely against Jalal's character ... his love and dedication to Jodha but more than anything it challenges his fabric of love for God if he is nearing the ultimate sin of coveting a married woman. So, here is my view on the current track.
Current view of the Atifa track
Has anyone heard of the Schrodinger's Cat experiment? It is a very interesting concept where you have a cat with a vial of poison locked in a box. Till you open the box, you don't know whether the cat is dead or alive and so both states are true in that moment.
We can say what percent chance we think it is alive or dead, but we cannot be for sure ... and hence, till we are sure both states exist.
You can read more here: http://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schr%C3%B6dinger%27s_cat
Hence, in this serial we right now have Jalal and Atifa locked in a box of a plot that the CVs are the only ones who can open ... we can only guess what is going to happen with these two ... but we cannot know for sure till all the cards are opened.
But, I don't know why there is a daily dilemma on what is going on ... we will just need to wait and watch. And, I don't know why we need to expect the worst. It is like we expect there to be a hurricane in the future, but we are holding the umbrella for it today.
Let us first consider the current state of things with Atifa ...
Jalal, who is eager to apologize to his wife Jodha for scolding her out of concern, immediately wants to apologize to her ... he enters the hamaam kaana. He sees another woman and is shocked ... he does not stay mesmerized or distracted by Atifa when Jodha enters
Immediately, his attention shifts to Jodha, in concern, to explain the situation to her ... and he yells at Atifa for using the hamaam khana ... if he was completely taken over by lust, would he have done this? Was it love and attraction at first sight to Atifa?
At first, there is a subconscious pull... he paints Atifa without his knowledge. He had not consciously noted her every feature like he did Jodha ... when he got Jodha's painting painted by Tabussum. This is conscious ill intentions towards a married woman?
He is intrigued as to why he continues to be pulled towards Atifa ... he stares at her the Diwan-e-khaas, he holds her hand, and stops her from leaving by holding her shoulder. Yes, so far, this is the only actions of his that I cannot explain and I will not justify as well.
But, Jalal is as clueless as we are on why he is attracted to her ... he admits she is beautiful and has a beautiful voice. So, this is the the old Jalal who was 100% clear in his intentions with all women and would acquire who he wanted? What is holding him back then? Why is he puzzled?A womanizer should be a pro at this.
He showed concern today that Atifa was being hit by her husband. That is fine. And now, he wants to go out on a hunting trip with the whole group- Tansen and company. What do you think he plans to do with Tansen around? If he was that evil in his intentions, wouldn't he just barge into Atifa's room ... why the hunting trip? Why Tansen along? Who is he hiding from as the ruler of the kingdom? He had the right to do whatever he wants as the King in polygamous times.
And I am still puzzled by what is the pensive look he had on his mind as he was getting dressed ... what is going on in his mind? And it is that intrigue that makes me want to keep watching that Jala has something on his mind.
And based on this mysterious behavior for two days, all the love for Jodha we have seen for months goes for a toss? He suddenly becomes a different person?
If he just wanted to possess Jodha, why did he wait so long ... he could have done on the wedding night, the first night in Agra, or the body heat night?
If Jodha was just a pastime, why did he bow in front of Kalimaa to fulfill her vow?
If he did not care for Jodha , why did her tears move him, to help in Sukanya's wedding by giving his special fort?
If he just was using Jodha, why was he willing to give up his Kingdom to make sure she did not convert religions?
If he did not respect Jodha, why would he take the slaps and insults from his own mother, to save her from defame during the fake pregnancy? He even confronted the awaam on the false news though it was an insult to him.
If he did not love Jodha, why did he plead in front of God for her return? Why did he not just turn to someone else in the harem?
Why did he spend weeks looking for Jodha to apologize after the Sujamal fiasco? Again, he could have just turned to someone else. Ruqaiyya was there.
Why does he feel pain that he could not protect Jodha and his future children from Khaiber if he did not care for them?
As he is subconsciously painting a picture of Atifa and Jodha enters, why is he concerned why she is not resting and he should have called him? Why was he just not bothered about Atifa?
Even today, if he did not care about Jodha and the children, why does he scold Jodha for going near Khaiber? Why does he care about Jodha and the children's safety? Why is he not busy staring at Atifa?
Does he scold Jodha for winning the war and making reforms ... no ... he does it only when he is concerned for her. When even Moti can understand this, why can't we?
Did all his love and concern suddenly disappear?
In conclusion
Guys, I am not saying this is the best of tracks to watch on screen ... though there is an element of intrigue to it ... but, I would request you to wait for the end of it before any conclusions.
But, I am also practical. There is a chance the CVs may go ahead and show him succumb to a sinful temptation. It is not beyond them.
They decimated his sense of justice as he was about to kill an innocent man ... is killing an innocent man not a sin?
He was ready to shirk his responsibility to his awaam for his sister ... is that not a weakness? Perhaps, they will bring in another weakness for women.
And, I guess if they show this one weakness for Atifa, this will erase all the love he has shown for Jodha, at least in the eyes of most viewers. Though I think that is not the case.
But, more than his love for Jodha, if the CVs show him doing a sin of coveting a married woman, the CVs are attacking the soul of his existence ... his beautiful love for God that we have always seen. And if he is punished for this sin by losing children, they are attacking his love for children, which has always been nothing but paramount. This is not only to his children, but the young boy whose parents he released to make sure the kid did not suffer.
But, I hope for all the issues above the CVs do not go this route as they are going against the very Jalal they created.
Message to the CVs
My only message to the CVs are, you are treading in dangerous waters ... but if you are just trying to rock the boat, we will try not to fall before you sail to the coast. But, if you try to sink the ship of the show ... and then lift it up ... more than Jalal's redemption, I am worried about yours.
