I am a newcomer to this, so if you have any example that contradicts what I have written, please give.
The current trend is to switch stories when the TRPs are high and to not switch when TRPs are low and the attrition of the first serial has set in.
This must be the result of better risk-reward assessment nowadays, since as many as six or seven serials that I know of right now are going in for leaps/ story switches/sequels at a time when their TRPs are the highest they've ever been.
I guess when the analytics were a little amateurish, people assumed that dropping TRPs needed bolstering with story changes. Now there is more analysis using numbers and I guess the recent pattern of story changes when on a high on TRPs is the result of better methods of evaluation.
