CHAPTER 13
Jodha felt relieved knowing that she is not in any trouble and knowing Jalaal sir trusts her made her even more happier! Her face suddenly started to glow. She looked at her hand twice and felt a little shy... Unknowingly she started to like his attention...she was more happy about the fact that Jalal sir does not distrust her. His one little touch gave her immense energy. She blushed recalling his anger towards Ms. Bindu. Without her knowledge her heart started to beat faster. Jodha wanted to scream out loud and tell everyone what happened. She ran to her cousin's house...
Seeing her cheerful face her cousin was also surprised...
Jodha with exciting sound told everything to her cousin about Jalal sir and her conversation...
Cousin with smile said: See i told you, when you didn't do anything why would you be in trouble!
Jodha gave a warm hug to her di and said Thank you soo much di for understanding me and giving me courage to tell everything to Jalaal sir! You know i was very scared of how he will react but he didn't get mad at me at all, in fact he was quite furious with Ms. Bindu. He said he will talk to her tomorrow!
Jodha also noticed relieved expression on her di's face.
Di with exciting tone: Thats good! Chal main tujhe tere favourite gol gappe khila kar laati huin!
Jodha: Neki aur pooch pooch...chalo!!
Jalaal on his way back home
Kal jo hua wo kaafi nahin tha jo aaj Ms Bindu ne ye sab keh diya Jodha ko...he angrily thought! Kal hi woh kitna ghabrayi hui thi, itni mushkil se use samjhaya tha aur aaj subah woh theek bhi thi balki itne dino se jo pareshaani thi uske chehre pe shayad mere baat na karne ki wajah se aaj subah woh bhi nahin thi, itne dino baad pehle ki tarah smile thi uske face pe...magar ye Bindu mam ne sab gadbad kar diya...kitna dari hui thi aur ro bhi rahi thi. Sab meri vajah se hua...main kal jaldi pahunch jaata to ye sab nahin hota.
Magar agar jo kal hua wo na hua hota to shayad maine Jodha ko project se hata diya hota...kitna ro rahi thi, haath bhi kaamp raha tha uska...maine pakda to kaampna band hua...suddenly he realized MAINE USKA HAATH PAKDA? Ye...ye kya kiya maine?? BHAGWAN JI AAP YE KYA KAR RAHE HO MERE SAATH?? MAINE USSE DOOR HONE KA SOCHA THA AUR YE...YE KOUNSA RAASTA DIKHA RAHE HO AAP MUJHE?? MUJHE KUCH SAMAJH NAHIN AA RAHA HAI MAIN KYA KAR RAHA HUIN AUR MAIN KYA KARUIN??Par ek baat pakki hai, ab main usse rude nahin ho sakta aur shayad door bhi nahin...to jitne din hain saath mein main normal behave karne ki koshish karuinga aur phir waise bhi ye uska last year hai school mein aur shayad mera bhi...SAB AAPKE UPAR CHOD RAHA HUIN MAIN AB...SAMBHAL LENA PLEASE!!
Soon he reached home!!
Jodha also came back and heard the phone ringing...she quickly climbed the stairs and ran to pick the phone up!
Jodha: ha...ha... he...llo...Hello!
Jalaal with worried sound: Kya hua tum theek to ho? Itna haaf kyun rahi ho??
Jodha: hhfff ... Oh aap, main theek huin! Woh main gol gappe khakar wapas aa rahi thi aur neeche phone ki ghanti suni to jaldi jaldi bhaag kar upar aayi isliye! Kuch kaam tha?
Jalaal in low tone: Nahin bas main check kar raha tha ke tum theek ho...ro to nahin rahi na?
Jodha giggled: Nahin Sir... main theek huin aur ro bhi nahin rahi! Aap meri itni chinta mat karo. Vo main udaas thi na to didi mujhe gol gappe khilane le gayi thi...mujhe khush karne ke liye!!
Jalaal with little happy tone: Oh to tumhein bahut pasand hain gol gappe?
Jodha realised she talked too much: hmm bahut pasand hain, she said shyly in low voice!
Jalaal casually asked: Aur kya kya pasand hai tumhe??
Jodha with surprising tone: Kyun? Mera matlab aap aise kyun pooch rahe ho??
Jalaal with little embarrassing sound: Waise hi!
Jodha : Oh! Kuch khaas nahin...actually main bahar bahut kam cheezein khaati huin...sirf dosa aur golgappe chat, fries wagarah, baaki burger wagarah kuch nahin khaati!
Jalaal smiled at her detailed innocent answers and asked: Kyun?
Jodha: Pata nahi kabhi try hi nahin kiya!
Jalaal: To try karna chahiye na!
Jodha: Hmm ok!
Jalaal: Kya hua?
Jodha: Kuch nahin, bas mujhe nayi cheezein try karna pasand nahin hai! Mummy bahut kehti hain par patani mujhse hota hi nahin! Khair aap ye sab chodo, aap ghar pahunch gaye?? (Isse pehle ke ye bhi lecture dene lagein nayi cheezein try karne ke liye mummy ki tarah its better to change the topic.)
Jalaal: Haan main pahunch gaya, tumhari chinta ho rahi thi to socha check kar luin, tum theek ho na??
Jodha: Main theek huin...aap naraaz nahin ho to main theek hi rahuingi!
Jalaal: Main kyun naraaz hone laga...tumhari koi galti hi nahin thi! Tumhe aisa kyun laga ke main naraaz ho jauinga??
Jodha: Aise hi!
Jalaal wanted to talk to her more and more... he was stretching the conversation : Aise hi matlab?? Koi to reason hoga aisa lagne ka??
Jodha with confusing sound: Woh aap...
Jalaal with smirk: Main kya??
Jodha in little complaining tone: Woh pichle kuch dino se aap gussa gussa the na...mujhse theek se baat bhi nahin kar rahe the to mujhe laga aap mujhse gussa ho isliye main darr gayi thi.
Jalaal felt really guilty hearing this!
Jalaal with regretting sound: Woh main thoda busy tha kuch personal problem mein isliye, tumse gussa nahin tha!
Jodha in exciting sound: Sachchi??
Jalaal: Haan sachchi!
Jodha: 1 min!
Aayi didi...
Jalaal: Kya hua?
Jodha: Kuch nahin wo didi ke saath Mumma ke paas jaana tha to usi ke liye wo bula rahi hain!
Jalaal: Acha acha koi baat nahin tum jao! Apna dhyan rakhna aur kal final preparations kareinge project ki...monday ko jaana hai na! Tumhari presentation to ready hai na??
Jodha in shocking sound: Presentation? Meri kyun? Woh to sirf emergency ke liye hai na??
Jalaal laughed and said: Haan haan sirf emergency ke liye hai!! Tum jao ab! Bye!!
Jodha: Bye!
On Friday in School
Computer class started...Jalal felt contended seeing cheerful smiling normal Jodha.
The day went normal...Jalaal's behavior was warm and nice and all smiles towards Jodha! They did the final check on the model and prepared everything for Monday!!
Even after all this Jodha was still feeling worried little bit... reflexively she was thinking about Ms. Bindu...How she will face her!
Jodha was again in dilemma should I ask him or not? What conversation he had with Ms. Bindu and Principal mam? She decided that she will certainly not ask him in front of Gurvinder. With her confused mind she was thinking...will he tell me if I ask?? He didn't tell me what he said to Principal Mam?
Any way doesn't matter I better stay away from junior classes... to avoid seeing Ms. Bindu, I certainly don't want her to say anything more to me!!
Jalaal noticed Jodha lost in thoughts...Seeing her worried face he called out: Jodha!
His voice shook Jodha out of her thoughts...
Jodha: Yes sir!
Jalaal in puzzled tone: What happened Jodha?
Jodha abruptly answered: Uh no no...Nothing sir!
Her abrupt answer confirmed his doubt...This made him think maybe she is still worried about Ms. Bindu, but I don't want to say anything in front of Gurvinder, I will talk to her later!!
Jalaal with instructional tone : Ok! So all set then...we will leave from here around 9am along with 4 others students from science side and Mrs. Sangeeta who is accompanying them!
In the evening
Jodha with her little confused mind thinking: He should be home by now...should I call and ask what happened with Ms. Bindu?
Finally with little yes and no war... she decided to call and ask him what happened?
Jodha with little fearful low tone: Hello!
Jalaal's face gleamed hearing her voice: Hello Jodha! I was thinking of calling you only!
His statement made her more nerverous... why sir... ? Have I done something wrong? Am I in trouble?? Her sound filled with alarm.
Jalaal with little frustrating and angry tone : No Jodha! Why do you always assume I am mad at you??
I saw you lost and thinking something in school so I wanted to ask you what the matter was? But I think I know, it's about Ms. Bindu, right?
Jodha with shocked expression: How do you know?
Jalaal still sounded little upset, with questioning tone: Never mind that...did she say something to you again??
Jodha with frightening tone: No! I just wanted to know what she said to you when you talked to her...u did talk to her, right???
Jalaal: Yes i did talk to her and you don't have to worry about it...she won't bother you anymore! I explained to her that she was wrong and out of line to say anything without knowing the whole thing! She won't bother you anymore!
Jodha with surprise blurted out: Thats it?
Jalaal firmly: Yes that's it! (Implying he does not want to say anything more about it.)
Jodha in little disappointed tone: Ok sir!
Jalaal in calm tone: Ok Jodha! So I will see u tomorrow morning for tuition class!
Jodha: Sure! Bye!
Jalaal: Bye!
Jodha thinking: Seems like he is still upset about it...God knows what Ms. Bindu said to him and what he said to her?? He was so furious yesterday after knowing...anyway now I have to remember not to talk about it with him or he might get mad at me!!
Monday morning
Everyone gathered near the mini bus!! Models in the mini bus, everyone ready to go!! All 6 students, 2 teachers, Driver and Narain (that store room guy, he was also the school photographer)
Jalaal: Tum bhi chal rahe ho saath, Narain?
Narain: Hunji Sir mujhe bhi jaane ka order mila hai!
Jalaal: Okay good!
Driver: Sir mujhe sirf Hyatt hotel tak ka raasta maloom hai uske aage poochna padega kisise!
Jalaal: Nahin uski zaroorat nahin padegi mujhe pata hai kahan jaana hai! Aap Hyatt hotel tak chaliye uske aage main bata duinga!
Mrs. Sangeeta: Aapko kaise pata hai woh jagah? Aap pehle gaye hain wahan?
Jalaal: Ji mam, actually ye jagah mere ghar ke bahut paas hai isliye mujhe pata hai!
Mrs. Sangeeta: Oh okay!
40 mins later
Jalaal pointing: See that street, I go in from there and couple streets down is my house and across the street is Hyatt hotel!
Jodha asked fascinated: Wow you come to school every day from so far!!
Jalaal smiling at her expressions: Yes I do!
Mrs. Sangeeta: U drove all the way from here and we have to go near here only and in the afternoon u will go back and pick up your scooter from school and come all the way back here again? Why don't you meet us here tomorrow, we can pick u up from here and drop u off here in the afternoon...it will save u a lot of time and petrol!
Jalaal: Ya it's a good plan! We can do this! We can decide a time and I will meet u all here tomorrow! Thanks Mam!!
Soon we reached the place! We all were given batches with our names on it along with the name of the school and allotted tables to display our models!
All 6 of us started setting our models and 1/2 hr later we were all set!
Soon students and teachers from other school started coming and looking around!
As usual Jodha hid behind and made Gurvinder give the presentation and explanation of the model!
After some time we all decided we should also go and look at other models! We made two groups Jodha, Chhaya(12th science section), Neelu(11th science section) and Gurvinder, Jatin(Chhaya's classmate), Rohan(Neelu's classmate) as one person from each model needs to be there with the model at all times!!
Jodha looked around and noticed hardly any people were coming in their direction...
Jodha: Gurvinder why dont u guys go first and look around then we will go!
Gurvinder: ok sure!
Gurvinder, Jatin and Rohan left.
Jodha thinking: I just hope no one comes and asks about the model until Gurvinder comes back!!
Soon the boys came back and Jodha left with Chhaya & Neelu! They all enjoyed looking at other models.
Jodha amazed: Wow some of these are really good!
Chhaya sadly said: Haan yaar hamare projects to next level pe nahin jaane wale.
Jodha trying to cheer Chhaya: Arre to kya hua, State level tak aana koi chhoti baat nahin hai...aise udas mat ho aur just enjoy!!
Jalaal who was nearby talking to another school's teacher heard Jodha and smiled!
Jalaal to himself: She is sooo sweet, always helping others, cheering them up, she is full of positivity, makes everyone smile! Who wud not love her?? But she can never be mine, he thought sadly!
Soon it was lunch time
Mrs. Sangeeta: Lets go and have lunch, we will go in two groups! Three of you come with me and three can go after we come back!!
First the girls-Jodha, Chhaya & Neelu went with Mrs. Sangeeta. They went to the lunch area and sat on the benches and shared their lunches with eachother and enjoyed. Then later the boys went with Jalaal!
Jodha somehow managed to survive the second half as well without having to give presentation even once! She was very happy with this achievement of hers.
On the way back everyone was tired and sat quietly in the bus! It was a tiring day as they had to stand most of the day!
First off the bus was Jodha! She waved and said good bye to everyone and Jalaal made sure she got off the bus as near to her house as possible!
After dropping everyone to their respective houses including Mrs. Sangeeta...Jalaal went to school and picked up his scooter and went home!
Tuesday morning
As decided everyone met near the bus except Jalaal as we will be picking him up from near Hyatt hotel! All of the kids played Antakshri on the way and had lots of fun! We reached a bit early at the meeting place as there was less traffic that day! Jalaal was not there so the driver parked the bus in a corner and we continued playing antakshri while we waited.
Soon we saw Jalaal walking towards the bus and as he noticed the bus was already there he ran a bit to reach faster!
As Jalaal entered the bus everyone wished him "Good Morning"! And the driver started moving.
Jalaal: Good Morning everyone! How long have you guys been waiting here??
Mrs. Sangeeta: A few minutes only!
Jalaal: Oh okay! I'll come early tomoro!
After reaching we all went to our tables and soon people started visiting and Gurvinder gave the presentation to everyone!
At lunch time Mrs. Sangeeta came to take us for lunch but...Gurvinder, Rohan & Jatin said to day we will go first! So the girls stayed behind! After they returned back Mrs. Sangeeta said now uou girls go. She looked around and noticed Jalaal Sir was busy talking to someone so she said you girls go and have your lunch! We all went and sat and started eating! A couple mins later Jalaal sir came...
Jalaal: Here you girls are! He sat next to us!
Jodha: Where is your lunch?
Jalaal: I dont bring lunch from home, i will get something and eat later!
Jodha: Later when?? Aren't you hungry?
Chhaya: Sir share our lunch with us!
Jalaal: No no its okay.
Jodha in the mean time already put half the pooris aside in the cap of the lunch box and moved it towards Jalaal...
Jodha: Here, eat please!
Jalaal: No you will be left hungry.
Jodha: No i won't be, this is too much i don't eat this much! Mumma usually gives extra for Moti, coz she loves Mumma's pori aaloo, i think Mumma forgot i was not gonna eat lunch with her today and she still gave me so many pooris...i cant eat this much!
Jalaal: You sure?
Jodha: Offcourse!
We all started eating!
After some time...
Jodha thinking: Didn't i have one and half poori left? How come there's half more?? Hmm May be i am getting confused!
She started eating again! Few minutes later there was another half poori on her side...
Okay now i am sure i didn't have this one!! She looked at Jalaal who was smiling mischieviously and purposely looking the other way.
Jodha: Oh so you are keeping these here! Here take yours back! I wasn't looking so you started cheating?
All three of them- Jalaal, Chhaya & Neelu started laughing...
Jodha stared at them: Its not funny...
Jalaal: I just didn't want you to be left hungry! Tumne saari pooriyan to mujhe de di aur khud chidiya jitna khana apne liye rakha to mujhe cheating karni padi.
Jodha: I told you i'll be fine! Aur main chidiya ki tarah khana nahin khaati!
Jalaal: Haan woh to main dekh raha huin.
Jodha stared at him!
Jalaal: Ok ok i am eating!
Jodha: Tomoro also u have lunch with us, i will bring extra for u.
Jalaal smiled: Okay!
Jodha: And no cheating tomoro!
Jalaal laughed: Okay no cheating!
While leaving in the evening Jalaal instructed the driver to drop all the kids in the same order and place like yesterday!
Later at Jodha's house
Jodha: Mumma kal lunch mein kya doge??
Mainavati: Kadi chawal banane ka soch rahi huin, kyun? Kuch aur chahiye??
Jodha: Nahin nahin kadi chawal perfect hai! Bas thode extra dena wahan sab lunch share karte hain na isliye!
Mainavati: Theek hai!
Wednesday Morning
Same like yesterday we left from school at the same time and picked up Jalaal sir on the way...today he came early and was already waiting there when the bus arrived!
It was a busy day as lots of visitors came. The whole first half Jodha again managed to survive without having to give presentation!
Before Lunch time
Jodha: Gurvinder aaj bhi tum log pehle lunch karne chale jaana.
Gurvinder: Kyun??
Jodha: Woh kal hum sabne Jalaal sir ke saath apna lunch share kiya tha na kyunki woh lunch nahin laate hain to aaj bhi share kareinge isliye! Humne unse kaha tha ke woh hamare saath lunch karein.
Gurvinder: Oh okay! Hum pehle chale jayeinge.
At lunch time all the boys went with Mrs. Sangeeta.
After coming back...
Mrs. Sangeeta: Okay girls now u all also go and have lunch!!
We all headed towards the lunch tables!
Jodha looking around: Where is he??
She spotted him talking to someone. There he is...but how will we ask him to come? May be he will come on his own like yesterday!
We sat on the table and waited for Jalaal sir to come!
A few minutes later Jalaal came and saw we were just sitting there with closed lunch boxes!
Jalaal: Why are you all not eating??
Chhaya and Neelu together: We were waiting for you only!
Jalaal looked at Jodha and she was looking at him like "Don't you know why?"
Jalaal: Oh sorry i made u wait! He quickly sat!
Chhaya and Neelu offered their lunches to Jalaal and he took a bite from them!!
Jodha opend her lunch box and handed a spoon to Jalaal...
Jodha: This is kadi chawal, hope u like it!
Jalaal smiled and started eating! They both ate from the same lunch box...Jodha noticed that he was eating very slow, she wondered why?
Jodha thinking: He really eats this slow?? May be he is doing it purposely so i can eat more.
Jodha to Jalaal: Waise aap hamesha itna slow khate ho, ya aaj kuch special hai??
Jalaal looked at her amused by her question: What?!
Jodha: Mujhe pata hai aapko lag raha hai ke mere liye kam na reh jaye is liye aap slow kha rahe ho haina?? Ye dekho (jodha opened the other half of her lunch box) aur bhi kadi chawal hain...maine socha thande na ho jayein isliye pehle ye khatam karke phir kholuingi magar aap to phirse kal ki tarah cheating karne lage!
Jalaal laughed: Oh okay...acha theek hai kha raha huin! Tum bhi khao!
Jodha smiled and started eating.
Jalaal: Acha kal tum sab lunch lekar mat aana! Kal hum log lunch se pehle hi free ho jayeinge kyunki kal to sirf winners announce honge aur participation certificates mileinge bas. Uske baad him sab kahin lunch karne chaleinge saath mein uske baad tum log ghar chale jaana! Main baaki sabko bhi bata duinga, theek hai?
Chhaya and Neelu excitedly: Wow Sir aap party de rahe ho??
Jalaal laughed: Haha aisa hi samajh lo!
Jodha sat quietly thinking something! Jalaal noticed her lack of enthusiasm and obseved her for a minute and then smiled and thought to himself: I know what you are thinking.
