btw I across a very interesting take on what Jahangir has written about Akbar's literacy in Jahangirnama - He says that at the age of 12 Akbar when he was not knowing the art of reading and writing, Humayun made the student of Abdul Latif - a persian - who was the one who lit the light of Sul-e-Khul and Peace to all in Akbar's mind - Now this means that Akbar was not literate till the age of 12 but it does not say that he remained illiterate after - infact it is also recorded in Tawarikh-e-Akbari that Akbar was very close to this tutor of his who was also instrumental in the Persianisation of Akbar and in Akbar's Sufi foundations - it was Latif who brought Rumi and Hafiz into Akbar's life and Akbar become totally enamored by their poetry and thoughts at the tender age of 12!!!

So now my question is - Was Akbar really illiterate or is this a mis-interpretation by Blochman and Smith in their translations???? But yes Akbar was blessed with such memory that once he heard something he would never forget it!!!!!

@Adia : He was dyslexic, NOT illiterate. He was probably one of the most intelligent rulers & intelligence is NOT always from academic achievements!

Yes Akbar was blessed by an unbelievable memory. ❤️

I love the fact that they are making the serial Akbar give us mire than a peek into the REAL Akbar, rather than making it into a complete naatakya roopantar. 😆

Tripti if you can, read Ferdinand Noer's 'The Mughal Emperor Akbar' - he has been very critical of Badaoni, and some of the western translators of works on Akbar - he is the one who raises this question where he says that there is no conclusive proof that Akbar was illiterate - and as for dyslexia - well there was no medical proof of that either but his phenomenal memory does put dyslexia in doubt - he may have been mildly dyslexic but even that is doubtful - since he was also brilliant with numbers and an excellent economist !!!!!!! I have many aspects that give proof of his mathematical ability and his economic intelligence.

True Adia, so have I.

And even if he was illiterate, how does that even matter?

He's still one of thegreatest rulers the World has ever seen. ❤️
