Nice post Divya...That is why we always have a soft corner for Jalal right. Though he makes mistakes he is ready to apologize etc. There is only one thing that I dislike about Jalal. His ability in trusting people. The biggest punishment nay wife can have is her husband not trusting her. Yes no matter what ever he does for his wife, the doubting part just wipes away the rest. AT least this is from my point of view. For me more than anything in a relation ship , I want my partner to completely trust me. This is the only complain I have regarding Jalal.

what has Ruqaiyya's pregnancy - fake or otherwise got to do with this?😛
Even if we don't take a polygamous setting into account.. as of now Jalal's relationship with Ruqs has become nearly platonic, not even friendly...
I read somewhere comparisons made between the Sujamal-Jodha/Ruq-Jalal fiasco. How can this be made? One is his lawfully wedded wife and the other an unknown stranger.. besides like it or not, that era was sexist.. so, while Jalal's feelings on Sujamal fiasco came out as would an explosive possessive husband wondering about this stranger with his wife, Jo's feelings here are of pure jealousy which is bang on!👏 Besides, Jalal is not HIDING anything from Jo... everything here if plain for her to see!
Why delay the SR any further? If these two have to sit and wait for good times to come to them, it possibly never will.. and I would rather watch two torn lovers who CAN'T WAIT to become one with each other in the 'heat of the moment' rather than two forty year olds sitting and marking a probable date in their diary for getting intimate like as though its a picnic outing...😉
Love is lust as well. For all physiological reasons too there has to be some amount of lust driving the act or two people can get intimate..
Yes lust is very much a part of an epic love story too as much as awaam and religion and harem and kanha and ajmer and hunar and tedapan and everything else!😉 And I've seen enough of the rest for a year..
Jodha despite being the one who said she never wanted to come in between Jalal/Ruqs can today care two hoots about Jalal's scene with Ruqs ...this only shows me as a viewer that her pagalpan for Jalal has come to the same level as Jalal's for her...the fact that she WANTS him and wants him to do to her what she's seen him sharing with Ruqaiyya.. she's had enough of guessing games and waiting.. I love for such a heroine who's in touch with her feelings and not a sacrificing girl!👏
And Jalal - do we even need to explain what happened.. he left the Jashan because he learnt of a medical emergency.. I don't think it was the time for farewells.. a doctor says your family member ka kuch urgent news hai..I would rush to the spot too.. not be concerned about who all I said bye to or not! It was AFTER that that he learnt of the pregnancy...😆
I even read somewhere someone saying Jalal is so dumb he doesn't know Ruqaiyya is not pregnant..even today men aren't totally aware of the female cycles.. and even with precision equipment to test pregnancies and chart cycles..that is something of a relatively 'unknown' concept for them!
In those days, even women wouldn't have known for sure.. if two - three months went by with no cycles then, a Hakim sahiba/doc was called and a supposition made..
But total confirmation could only happen after 4-5 months and first signs of life being felt inside the womb...How many queens have had false 'good news' even in the British dynasties.. all you have to do is watch History channel...
and Jalal
is supposed to know all this? 🤣

wow shradda. i always love to read ur posts.👏 ur just bang on. even when jodha was declared to be a pregnant even she cant realize tht she was not pregnant. so how can jalal guess all these.😆 will he count the dates or deal with his kingdom's issues???

My dear Divya,

Masterly. Mark Antony would have applauded your riff on his famous Friends, Romans, countrymen address. This one is clearly written from the heart, and it marries a good lawyer's mastery of the facts and of detail- I did a similar cataloguing of all that Jalal had done for Jodha months ago, with more from the early days, but I could not have bettered this effort of yours- with the emotional vazan of a good writer who can feel for her subject.

This said, I do not think those who detest Jalal as a article of faith will be in any way convinced by your piece or will undergo a change of heart. So you are really preaching to the converted, but it was worth it, if only for the pleasure of reading such a lovely brief for Jalal.

There are no perfect husbands, or perfect wives. As for Jalal working towards it, if one could find such a husband as he is now, I am sure most women would be ready to fast for a month of Sundays to get him!

What is really needed is a companion piece Jodha: you are not a good wife, but I suppose no one would risk setting off World War III here!😉

I am afraid I no longer give a hoot whether Jodha accepts Jalal any which way or not. The show bores me stiff, and I am not about to go into transports over a display of fake passion with a body double. You youngsters are welcome to it!😉

Some random Sunday musings (you may wonder I have nothing better to do 😆)

I know many of you are in la la land with the new promo; this was a post I had drafted in response to when Jalal said "I am not a good husband" to Hamida Bano. After Jodha returned and both Jalal and Jodha admitted their mistakes, I felt it was a clean slate and they were ready to move forward and so was the forum- so chose not to post it.

But just 5 minutes on Friday, Jalal left the jashn (with a nod to Jodha, unless I am imagining things), expresses happiness at becoming a father and fulfilling his promise to a childhood friend, and that's it - he is no longer a good husband?

I will be the first to admit Jodha has been a good support and wife to him ... Whether it was ...
- When she feels Jalal's pain and touches his shoulder to support him when he is sad about Bakshi Bano's betrayal after the fake pregnancy track ...
- When she forgets all else and drinks poison to save his life in the Ben track ...
- When she tends and cares for him with the little things as Kajri

And I will also admit, Jalal has his share of faults: He has a short temper and he has misunderstood Jodha ... That being said, his intentions are not to hurt Jodha like Ruqs and Maham Anga and circumstances played a heavy role ... That beings said, he never hid behind or justified his actions based on circumstances. He always apologized and faced his mistakes.

That also does not mean Jalal has done nothing for Jodha. Hence, this post is dedicated to that.

It is drafted in response to Jalal's statement to Hamida Bano: "I am not a good husband" hence, the writing style.

"Jalal, you are not a good husband."

When you know you accused Jodha incorrectly in public, you apologized to her in front of the same public. But, you are not a good husband.

When your wife said that she would rather die than be your wife, you gave her the opportunity to leave the relationship. But, you are not a good husband.

After knowing Jodha was in pain after her suicide attempt and you were a cause of it, you took every taunt and complaint with a smile. But, you are not a good husband.

On the way to Ajmer, you are always vigilant for her safety ... Saving her from an assassin and a snake ... I still remember the look of fear in your eyes when she was missing from her bed. But, you are not a good husband.

At Ajmer, you made a duaa that Jodha's wish comes true. But, you are not a good husband.

You knew Jodha's unintentional mistake of taking out the bullets almost cost you your life and the happiness of your family ... But you did not criticize her individually or in public. But, you are not a good husband.

You arranged Jodha's sister marriage and gave up your prized childhood memory and fort to ensure her marriage. But, you are not a good husband.

You were touched by Jodha's pain that she could not fulfill her promise to Kali Maa ... So you touched your head at the feet of Kali Maa. But, you are not a good husband.

You had every reason to touch Jodha to save her from her frozen state on the way back from Amer ... But you gave greater weight to her sentiments. But, you are not a good husband.

You were willing to give up your throne to keep your promise to Jodha to practice her religion. But, you are not a good husband.

You took the insults and slap of Hamida Bano to save Jodha from insult during the fake pregnancy track. But, you are not a good husband.

You faced your entire awaam on your childless state so Jodha could not be defamed. But, you are not a good husband.

When you realized the plight of women in child marriages, you understood Jodha's pain from their wedding's circumstances. But, you are not a good husband.

On Jodha's one word, you tested Ben to be a Vishkanya ... Ben passing the test made both you and Jodha look silly in the DEK ... But, you are not a good husband.

Even at the height of the aftermath of the Dhakka, you made sure Jodha was not evicted from her room and her Kanha was not displaced. But, you are not a good husband.

You prayed with your entire heart and appealed to the awaam to save her life when Jodha's life was in danger. But, you are not a good husband.

You recognized Jodha's efforts and your mistake in the Ben track in front of the entire DEK ...But, you are not a good husband.

As Badal, you noticed that Jodha's feet were swollen and tended to them ... Seeing her cold and worried for health you started to start a fire. But, you are not a good husband.

You encouraged Jodha to step up to her potential and become the harem warden. You were disappointed when she left it. But, you are not a good husband.

You defended Jodha in public and yelled at Ruqaiyya in public during the murthi kaand. But, you are not a good husband.

You could not sleep, rest, or eat in peace when Jodha was lost. But, you are not a good husband.

You knew Jodha was at fault to for hiding the truth from you, but you took full responsibility and asked for complete forgiveness from the misunderstanding with Sujamal. You did not hide behind Maham Anga or Ruqaiyya's chaal. But, you are not a good husband.

You always take Jodha's advice whether for child marriage, slavery, or the pilgrimage tax. But, you are not a good husband.

You have embraced Jodha's beliefs and values ... Whether praying to the tulsi plant, or lighting a diya, or taking prasad. But, you are not a good husband.

Jalal, just like your saying you did not have a heart did not mean it was true ... Your saying you are not a good husband does not make it true. You are not a perfect husband ... But definitely a person who wants to work towards it.

In Conclusion

As the promos suggest that Jodha will fully accept Jalal as her husband this week ... That means she fully loves, trusts, and accepts Jalal as he is. I will agree the timing seems odd but this also means:
- That Jodha appreciates the good in Jalal, and accepts him with his faults
- That Jodha accepts him with his relationship with Ruqs, which reflects the times in which this show is set
- That Ruqs failed in her plan to separate Jodha from Jalal

Let us see how it plays out ... But felt like sharing this post in the meantime.

bang on 👏
very logical comment 😃
