beautiful post divya..and the man needs no defence ...it is belittling both of them if we keep on questioning how good or bad he is or she is...

people are too busy seeing everything from their own pov that they refuse to see his pov...refuse to see him

there stands a man who time and again has only heard news about loss of a child...his yearning is so great, his hurt is so deep...and then the news of becoming father ...his happiness...every expression on his face...i want to slap ruqaiyya harder..not an ounce of remorse but rejoicing coz she ruined jodha's anniversary ...it felt like Jalal or his expression or his happiness did not register with her ..only the fact that he is with her and not jodha registered...

they both lost a child few months back...she may be bad or evil or a monster but she is about to become a mother ..even a stranger would be sympathetic and here we are talking about the father ..for that one moment time stopped for him and everything else vanished ...

and in such bliss you never reason or see logic ..it is just bliss...and similarly when jodha wept and was hurt even that was immediate reaction and i am so happy she reacted this way instead of raising her hands to bless both of them ...neither is Jalal's love for jodha taken a backstop nor has Jodha's love for the child...

and given the pics seen ..it seems jodha herself stopped him and both of them are in complete control of their senses without being drugged or drunk or emotionally vulnerable ...ence if they decided to go ahead with their relationship ,you and me are like the kazi who cannot and should not do anything...

even me more than the SR i am interested in the talk that led to this ..i love the emotional outpouring in such situations and hoping for a confession

to conclude people are too busy seeing the little things and all i am concerned about is the huge heartbreak he is going to suffer and no..no one in this world deserves this ...mocked twice once by his sister and next by his best friend and chief wife...his entire family will be shamed once again ...

My dear Divya,

Masterly. Mark Antony would have applauded your riff on his famous Friends, Romans, countrymen address.

Thanks so much! Interestingly, I had memorized that speech for my English class at some point ... It must have stuck in my subconscious mind as it didn't even occur to me I was copying it

This one is clearly written from the heart, and it marries a good lawyer's mastery of the facts and of detail- I did a similar cataloguing of all that Jalal had done for Jodha months ago, with more from the early days, but I could not have bettered this effort of yours- with the emotional vazan of a good writer who can feel for her subject.

Thanks so much Aunty - it means a lot!

This said, I do not think those who detest Jalal as a article of faith will be in any way convinced by your piece or will undergo a change of heart. So you are really preaching to the converted, but it was worth it, if only for the pleasure of reading such a lovely brief for Jalal.

I know- but that goes both ways, I do not change my mind easily ever 😉It was more for my own enjoyment and to provide a thread for folks to share their thoughts

There are no perfect husbands, or perfect wives. As for Jalal working towards it, if one could find such a husband as he is now, I am sure most women would be ready to fast for a month of Sundays to get him!

I guess I better start fasting soon ... There is a lot of competition!

What is really needed is a companion piece Jodha: you are not a good wife, but I suppose no one would risk setting off World War III here!😉

To be honest, you could create a post on why Jodha is a good wife ... Or why Jalal is a bad husband ... If is the same as the whole glass half full, half empty situation

I am afraid I no longer give a hoot whether Jodha accepts Jalal any which way or not. The show bores me stiff, and I am not about to go into transports over a display of fake passion with a body double. You youngsters are welcome to it!😉

But, I hope you will continue to share your POV with us ... As it is always so eloquent and well worded

Shyamala Aunty

Lashykanna,

Relax! There is nothing to get het up about in defence of Jalal.

If I can find it, I will read your closed thread, though I cannot understand why you did not tell me about it.
Ille periyamma that thread wasn't in defence of Jalal.. that was a positive -look up to the SR kinda thread😆 I know I know.. I can hear the facepalm!
And I know he came to know of the pregnancy news once he met the Hakima... the general gripe around the forum is that he lost his manners by not wishing Jodha bye in the jashan before going to meet the Hakima.. My question is he left the jashan knowing the doc had called for him.. he knows NOT its not an emergency since Ruqs has been supposedly unwell for the past couple of days..
so, he gave her half-a-nod and left and for that he's being shred apart! 😊

But as for @blue, you are off the mark, my dear. If you lipread what the Hakima says to Jalal, she is clearly saying Ruqaiya Begum ma bannewali hain. Jalal knows what the matter is as soon as she has finished talking to him, and that is why his eyes widen in incredulity - he cannot believe his good fortune, poor chap.

Plus, remember the sequence when he enters Ruqaiya's rooms. He tells her not to get up, and then straightaway he asks her Kya yeh sach hai? No one is shown telling him about the baby, he knows that already at the jashn itself.

How anyone expects him, given his desperate yearning for a child, NOT to rush to Ruqaiya's bedside at once passes my comprehension. But then, so does most of the stuff written here, which is why I confine myself to very few threads.

Finally, I do wish you would use 'desire' instead of that ugly L word.😡 There is something to be said for delicacy, plus there is a clear distinction between the two words.
Ok ok I shall use the word desire... 😆 though personally, I find nothing wrong in a lawfully wedded husband and wife having the 'L' word for one another either... but desire it shall be!

Shyamala Periamma.

i know many r sad about jodha's sadness, but im actually happy. for months we were complaining about jodha not showing the same passion & same longing for jalal. but finally tht moment came when jodha wants him, she wants to be one with him forever & thts why she got upset. as salima had said, if love is there jealousy will also be there. why we will be sad about jodha's tears??? instead we should be happy tht now she has the same desire which jalal has for her. why only jalal will evrytime run behind her??? she also needs to miss him, needs to be impatient, needs to feel tht emotion. thts wht makes it an epic love. infact, im happy tht the SR will be happening at this point of time, bcoz jodha also needed to feel the same way which jalal was feeling even she was in amer. though jodha was also missing him, but still tht want, tht passion was missing, but this one incident made her realize how deep her love is for him. only saying is not enough, she also have to feel tht 'adhik prem'. isnt it actually beautiful??

Hi Divya,

Though your statement and initial lines confused me, you proved once again that you are a genius. Such a well written post, i had tears in my eyes reading all the praises you showered on Jalal.
you can't get a better husband than him.

Sorry if my technique was confusing ... I wanted to show you can still support Jodha and feel Jalal has faults while seeing good points in Jalal

He is intelligent, powerful, a warrior, ambitious , determined, rich
loving, caring, handsome, romantic, understanding, broadminded
...comes with little short temper.

A very good summary!

Compared to all the qualities above his shortcomings are nothing..I don't think there can be any man this close to perfection. Jodha is one lucky woman and she accepted that as well.

Exactly!

Now though i believe everyone is entitled to their opinion, some of the comments made by Other forum members on Jalal, are utterly hypocritical.😡
SR happening on Ruq pregnancy background shows, his happiness on becoming a father and his love for Jodha both are very dear to him. He cannot ignore one for other. Isn't that beautiful that inspite knowing he is becoming a father, that did not stop him in making love with Jodha, shows how much he WANTS her to be one soul and the love he has for her.
Similarly, Jodha ready to give herself to him at this juncture means she loves him unconditionally and the wants all of him.

Well said!

I am so glad you made this post.

Thank you for posting!

Thanks,
Sush
