I think their problem was that Akbar, despite being a 16th century monarch, the Zee guys could not find a single aspect that shows him disrespecting women or treating them as crap / second class - and hence the scene they showed and the way it was presented - the idea was to show how strong Jodha is - infact they shd have shown what a liberal thinker a 16th century monarch was - would have made better social sense!!!
