I guess he was happy and smiling because that shafuudin(not sure if i got the name right) said that everyone in mahal and Awam thinks Jodha as kaas and respect her. I guess this made Jalal happy. He was happy that his begum is acknowledged as kaas from everyone not just a title gievn by one.

I just saw the episode now and I am drooling ... The smile he gives in the end... OMG, marjavaaa

he is very used to ruku's tantrums...and he always has been like that towards her

but this smile was something special...becos though ruku was shouting her lungs out...his eyes was on jodha...his thoughts were jodha...and he is so happy that after the memorable boat ride...his beloved is back in his room but she brought a side effects with her...

anyways today indirectly EK promoted Shaadi Ke Side Effects in last scenes...look how jallu was sandwich b/w both his wives...
