Hello... youngsters here (the harry potter generation 😆) - please no offense 🤗

Its part of history of India when this type human chess game was played.

If am correct, it was there even before Mughal rule.. I think probably during Gupta period itself.

I may be wrong, but, I remember seeing the Chess courtyard in Agra fort - years back when I visited there. I never understood the significance, but, now I do. Want to visit all again.
