Jaya dear, Fatehpur Sikri was built to commemorate Akbar's victories over Chittor and Ranthambhore in 1568 and in honour of Sheikh Salim Chisti, after the birth of Salim in 1569, as also the victorious Gujarat campaign.
It took 15 years to build, and soon after it was completed, the water ran out and Akbar moved his court out of there.
So this predating to 1562/3 is purely fictional.
As for what was there in Fatehpur Sikri and what was not,the authorised official guide to Fatehpur Sikri brought out by the Govt. of India Press can be accessed in its entirety at
http://www.archive.org/stream/guidetofatehpurs035312mbp#page/n21/mode/2up.
It has 78 pages and 12 plates, and it meticulously lists every single building in the complex. I visited Fatehpur Sikri last in 1992, but this book is obviously far, far more accurate than my memory, so I would refer all of you to it rather than to me. It is factual and objective, besides being modest and accessible, all admirable qualities in any piece of writing.
So if you can spare the time, do make the effort needed to go thru it. It has an excellent index, which itself gives a very good idea of all that is there.

Guys, Ok agree that Jalal shifted his base or Capital to FS during 1569 after Salim's birth and the commissioning of the city was in the year 1568. Don't have to give him to credit to build an entire new city and it does require few years to complete the construction. They hd to build a city, not just one house of 5000 sq.ft which could be completed in the same year of foundation. They had to dig wells, build building and make roads, market place, temples, Mazars and even they had to build the burriel grounds. All these things could not ne completed in a month or two. More over they didn't had the facility of current days, concrete mixer, ready Bricks, ACC cement etc. They had to dig the wells first to help them to have water for both their personal use as well as for construction. They had to prepare some land for cultivation, so that they can grow their food. They had to break the rocks to get the stones to lay foundation and the walls. There were too many things involved in bringing up a city. So it is completely OK if they show Jalal initiated this construction in the year 1562.
