How many of us have heard this proverb - 'Keep your friends close but keep your enemies closer'?
And yet we seem to be overlooking this little gem!!!!

If anyone remembers the epi where Jalal got the news of Bairam Khan's murder and where he marries Salima and brought both her and Rahim under his care - there was a bg score where it said that Jalal also realised the role of MahamAnga in this fiasco. Since then I have been wondering why he has been quiet on that front. This proverb always seemed the answer and today's epi strengthens this.

Maham till now has not been identified in any wrong doing and her support and protection of Adham has not been prooved. If Jalal lets her go she can definitely become a rallying point of those who want to see Jalal removed as Emperor. And this would lead to further strife and war. For all his ability as a soldier and commander Jalal has never believed in shedding blood unnecessarily. And he has never been impatient with his actions. Yeh woh insaan hai joh 'dum mei pakna' iss baat ko bakhubi samajhta hai.

Where all want Jalal to act swiftly he waits for the perfect time and opportunity to act. - This is called brilliant strategy. When Jalal finally breaks off with Maham no one would want to stand by her or rally around her and this is exactly what happened too. Though Ekta Maiyya and her team are creating a lot of candy-floss drama but ultimate anjaam yehi hai and have to say - for once Ekta maiyya and her team ka drama is enjoyable!!!

Good write up. Although I think the reason Jalal keeps MA close is because of his milk debt, not because he thinks she is an enemy that needs to be monitored.

That was true then but since the Bairam Khan incident and ever after Akbar kept those whom he did not trust as close as possible. It is a recorded fact by Fazl and Badayuni and others that Akbar was a very good judge of ppl and characters. And that was one big reason for his success. Yes he has never openly confronted Maham but that was more to do with his own nature of courtesey. And the fact that he also knw for all her failings Maham did love him in a convoluted way. And ofcourse he did believe in paying all his debts - Milk included!!!

Wow, that s a brilliant point u made. Yes, Jalal indeed is a very good judge of character, but also never forgets to pay his debts for the good others do for him. And today I did feel that he wasn't completely swayed by MA s emotional drama. That s how it looked to me from his expressions & some of the answers he gave to her in reply to her complaints.

Jalal has doubt about her since quite long! Its just his love for her that has stopped him in taking any action. Yes he knew she is behind BK's murder and took Salima and Rahim under his care. He knew Adham is behind all the massacre in Malwa and Rupamati's and other women's Johar+Suicide and he saw how Maham protected her son by taking sword on her neck. So he is just ignoring her actions as he does not have a solid proof or he is scared if he himself investigates he will find her guilty which is one of his worst nightmare! I will say he is still not ready to convince himself that his Badi Ammi can plot against him for her son. Sad it is!!

Very true.
In the serial also a few episodes ago he tells BB he didn't trust anyone not even his shadow but now he trusts jodha ,

Shows he didn't trust MM , but he did respect her for what she had done for him as a child. After the MC track the MM lookalike episode , He has kept MM close but at the same time hasn't consulted her much
* when MM asks him to not think much abt JO after her sucide attempt he tells her i cant let it be as she is my begum and we are very much similar

* he didn't consult her regarding the fort given to Sukanya
* even in fake pregnancy track she was kept out

He smartly made it seem like a win win situation for MM , when she tried to emotionally blackmail him in the subedari issue,

He asks her do you trust your son , do you trust your shehensha ... In that case as a son don't leave me and as a shensha I don't want you leaving the palace

There was no way she can say she doesn't trust him so there is no need for him to revisit his subedari decision which he has taken.
And as we will see later on also although MM has been given the authority to decide in Adhams case the final word will always be Jalal's
